Chapter 16: Chapter 16
Ashley
We reached our hotel after a small drive. I opened the door to our room.
“I like this teddy! It is so freaking cute!” I tried to lighten the atmosphere as I entered the room.
I didn’t hear any reply, instead the sound of the door being locked. I turned to face him.
“Chris?” I asked, referring to the lock. “You really don’t need to lock it”
“I will,” he replied.
I looked at him with an unsure expression, before going to the bed and sitting down. He was rather angry and I didn’t even know the reason.
“Why are you angry, Chris? I know you told me not to ask any questions, but I can’t let you be angry… please?” He took a seat beside me.
“I don’t wanna be angry, Ash,” he took my hand. His touch was harsh, and quite cold. “But I am”
“Just give me a reason. I will improve…”
He left my hand and took out his phone. “Do you know Jason?”
“Jason... um… oh! Ms. Heather’s assistant?” I remembered him.
“Yes,” he replied.
“Um… what about him?”
“He asked you on a date, and you approved,”
“What? No! What the hell are you talking, Chris--”
“Shut up Ashley!!” he yelled and I stopped.
What is wrong with him?
“Chris…” I whispered.
“Give me a minute. I need to think about things and also…” he looked at his phone. “Show you a lot of things”
I nodded slowly. I didn’t know what else to do.
After a minute, he took my hand again. This time, it was a warm touch.
“Look, Ash,” he looked at me, and I followed him. “I love you, don’t do this”
“Don’t do what, Chris… I… He just asked me to meet him. It is nothing like you are imagining,” I clarified.
“I saw the footage,” he showed his phone’s screen to me. “He asked you out on coffee”
“Yes. Just a coffee. Can’t you trust me, Chris?”
“Ash…”
“Chris. Trust me”
“I trust you, Ash but are you really this naive? Don’t you know the meaning of what he asked?”
“I know… I get it. But trust me, I agreed just because he is our business partner. This is gonna be so awkward if I don’t agree… do you understand me?”
“But that doesn’t mean you are gonna agree to everything”
“But it isn’t everything… Chris, it is just a coffee”
He sighed. “I trust you, but I don’t trust him”
“I understand you,” I took his hand. “I do. You care about me. But this shouldn’t come between my duties now, should it?”
“This is not your duty”
“This is a part of my duties. Keeping a good relationship with my clients. And for that, I need you to trust me, alright?”
He sighed once again and then nodded. “Alright, but only this time. There is just no second time you will go out with some boy other than me”
“Okay! I will ask you next time” I winked at him and he smiled. “I hope you don’t even need to ask the next time. I mean, I hope no one asks you out the next time, alright?”
“Yeah, okay, I get it,” I smiled at him back.
Heather
“Great job,” I complimented Jason.
“I am getting so used to you compliments, Ms. Heather,” He smiled.
“Yes, you are working so nicely nowadays, I am really impressed”
“I am glad”
“Now,” I turned in a serious mood. “What about your first date with Ashley?”
“Well, I made sure that Chris looks at the footage where I asked her out and she agreed, which sure would have made him doubt her. Also, I think they had a fight”
“Wouldn’t that be an obstacle in your date? Wouldn't Chris try to stop her?”
“Yeah, but it is worth it. You know, this trust is a bitchy thing. Once broken, it can never be the same again. I just hope my plan created a lot of misunderstandings between them. That is all I want from this all”
“Mhm, I loved your plan, Jason, but only if it works”
“It is confirmed that Chris was quite angry. Only if that resulted in a fight, or better, a break-up, it is a clean win!”
“Yes, it is. Alright, tell me your plan for this date”
Unknown
“No,” I smirked at her.
“Please!”
“No,” I said seriously and she looked down.
“S-Sorry, I… I will… not say that ever again!”
“Good, May,” I leaned down towards her face, and took it in my hand. “I see. You have learned a lot”
“Y-Yes”
“Don’t stutter,” I left her face. “Let her go,”
“No, please no! Oh please!” she yelled while my men were dragging her to the free world-- where people will kill her any minute.
“She will die, and that can and will be our loss, sir,” Ray interrupted my decision.
Ray is my left hand. He is the only one who can say anything where I am present, you see. He is the only one that has this right.
“Loss? Because of some whore? Ray, are you out of your mind or what? Are you drunk?”
He looked down and kept quiet and she was dragged out.
“Boss. This… here,” he gave me a photo.
“You found her?”
“Yes, boss!”
“Where is she, right now?”
“I think at her residence. But we can bring her here sooner than expected”
“Really?”
“Yes, Boss!”
“I want her soon. You have a complete week. And if you fail…” I took out my gun and shot just right and left of his face. It missed him by an inch. “This inch will be long gone”
He nodded and looked down. I could see him shaking.
This is his fear. He fears of getting shot a lot. He is so afraid of guns that he'd rather be stabbed by a knife.
“Leave,” I ordered everyone and within a minute, the room was vacant.
I am finally getting you, and I am so happy. This has to be the second-best day of my life, fiancée.
