Chapter 13: Chapter 13
Chris
“Heather Blue” I finally told her.
“What? Why?” She questioned and that is what I don’t ever want her to know.
“It’s… It is not important, Ash. The thing is three years ago, I made sure that those documents were deleted. But maybe she had a copy or something. But why attack now? Why make it known to us?”
She thought for a moment. “Is it related to us?”
“But we were not in a relationship when this happened” I reasoned. “Maybe something else”
“You need to tell me how and why Chris. How can I help if I don’t know how she had them in the first place?”
“I… I think she has nothing to do with it because it makes no sense for her to attack now. She would have done it three years ago if she wanted to. Nothing has changed now, so leave her” I said and she looked at me with an unsure face but then nodded.
“So, anyone else on your suspicion list?” she questioned and I went through my mind to remember anyone else I had shown the documents to. None in the last years. Only Heather.
“None,” I finally said.
“See, I am not forcing…” she looked at me. “But we have only one lead other than your brothers. Why not just look into her? For once?”
“Fine. I will deal with her. Give me your laptop” I said and realized she hasn’t brought her laptop here. “Or take mine and log into the company’s Gmail”
She nodded and did the same. She gave me the laptop and I sat straight, ready to type.
I can’t use the code language here, otherwise, she will know I messaged her, so…
“Ms. Heather Blue.
Actually Mr. Brown is considering a meeting with you at his workplace soon. I would like to know your free time so that we can set up an appointment.
Regards,
Ashley Jones
Personal Assistant
Mr. Chris Brown
The Brown Association”
And I sent it.
“You sent it with my name?” She asked me as she read it.
“Or should I have done it with mine?”
“Ah, no. I just asked”
“Okay”
I really hope you are not the one to make this mistake, Heath or you’ll suffer.

Ashley
I sensed something different in the way he treats or rather reacts to Heather’s name. Who is she? Why does she have the papers? I mean, had? What’s their relationship? Even if… even if she was his ex or something, he can tell me about it. Come on, everyone has a past and past relationships. I can’t be the first in his life.
I shrugged my thoughts. Maybe I am just too concerned about weightless things. But why can’t he tell me about her? He is gonna deal with her, but won’t tell me anything?
huh.
I got up.
“So, now I am leaving. Are you coming?”
“Hm… sure. I have nothing else to do” he got up too and we went downstairs and then went to the headquarters in his car.
Yeah, I came in a cab because I expected to come back with him.
Anyway, I stepped inside and there was someone. He was tall and quite handsome. No, I am not eyeing other boys, but he was handsome.
I looked down and kept moving until I was sure he called me.
“Hey, Ms. Ashley, right?” he asked and I stopped.
I looked at him and smiled. “Yes. How may I help you?”
Come on, don’t tell me you expected me to be unprofessional. At least not when Chris is right next to me.
“Hey. I am Ms. Heather Blue’s assistant. You are Mr. Chris Brown’s, right?”
“Yes, I am”
“Great. I would like to discuss the meeting” he said and I was quite shocked.
Aren’t they too fast? We just sent the email. Was he sitting on Gmail for the mail so that he can come running here?
“Ah… okay,” I said and excused myself from Chris.
We reached my cabin. Actually, it was the second cabin Chris has, he lent me.
We sat down across each other.
“So, Mr--?”
“Oh yeah! I am Jason. Jason Manes”
“Okay, Mr. Jason--”
“You can call me Jason, Ashley,” he said and I stopped.
Just a few moments ago he called me Ms. Ashley. At least he should ask me if he can call me by my name!
“Okay, Jason,” I said. “So, when is Ms. Heather free?”
“She has time three days later, at 3 PM. Is it okay or shall we schedule it for another time?”
I took out my phone and checked Chris’s schedule. Luckily, he had no meeting at that time.
“Nope, it is perfect” I exclaimed to him. “So, the appointment is set”
“Yes,” he said but didn’t get up.
Boy, I indirectly told you that work is done, now go and kill yourself.
“So, I should get going” I finally said and got up.
“Um… Ashley?” he stopped me and I looked at him. He stood up.
“Yes?”
“Can we grab a coffee sometime?”
Don’t tell me he is asking me out on the first day.
For your information, I am Chris’s girlfriend.
“If it is okay?” he asked.
Business partners, we are, right?
huh.
“Yeah fine” I replied.
“Great! How about three days later, when they would be having the meeting?”
“Shouldn’t we be present at the meeting?” I raised an eyebrow.
“No. Ms. Heather always has private meetings with her partners and clients. Or anyone, actually. No one can be present there except them. Didn’t Mr. Brown tell you this?”
“Um… maybe he didn’t know?”
“He does. Actually, anyone who has done business with her does. Now don’t tell me you don’t know he did business with her?”
“Actually I figured that out,” I said.
“Okay, that’s cool. So, three days later?” he questioned again.
“Yes, okay fine” I replied and he smiled at me.
Am I a pervert if I am liking his smile?
Gosh, Ashley, you are in a relationship with your boss.
Huh.
Chris knew I would not be able to attend the meeting. What is so confidential that he doesn’t want me to know, anyhow?
