Chapter 20: Chapter 20
Karin's eyes widened when she heard Matthew's words. The people there who heard that joined in cheering and clapping. Matthew immediately grabbed Karin's hand and took that girl away from there.
"I misspoken," Matthew said without turning his head.
"I didn't mean to ask you to marry me, but I wanted you to work for me. Why did it turn out differently?"
"Okay, that's okay," Karin said with a relieved laugh. She had been surprised and thought Matthew really proposed to her.
Matthew stopped walking. He turned and looked at Karin.
"So how? Do you want to work for me?"
Karin shook her head.
"Working with an actor like you must be troublesome. Just look at how many fans you have, I can't handle them."
"So you prefer to handle Mr. Han and the customers at the bar?"
"You don't have to worry. I can take care of myself. Come on, you won't be like Silvi, will you? Always think that I can't take care of myself."
Matthew took a deep breath while looking at Karin.
'You really can't take care of yourself, Stubborn Girl,' Matthew muttered to himself. Even so, he still nodded in agreement to Karin and let that girl go to work.
***
Matthew walked through the bar area. He couldn't let Karin work like that. He had to keep an eye on that girl. Not too long, he saw Karin busy serving the guests. When Karin passed by, Matthew immediately lowered his hat.
"Matthew!" call Karin.
"Hm...." Matthew immediately realized his mistake. He shouldn't have responded to Karin's call. Now she knew that he was there.
"Are you here to watch over me?" Karin asked in a slightly louder voice to beat the loud music playing in the venue.
"No," Matthew denied.
"I came here for a drink. Just so you know, I'm a customer here."
Karin just nodded with a smile. She then immediately approached Nana who called her. Matthew breathed a sigh of relief that Karin wasn't mad at him.
***
"What is it?" Karin asked after standing in front of Nana. She was still smiling because of Matthew's presence. Actually she was relieved that Matthew was there, she felt safer because someone was looking after her.
Nana took Karin's hand and dragged the girl away.
"Nana, let go of my hand!" Karin exclaimed.
"Nana!"
Nana stopped walking when they arrived at the warehouse. He turned and looked at Karin.
"You're lucky to still be able to work here after what happened to Mr. Han a few days ago," said Nana.
"But now you're smiling at another man, when he asks you to serve him."
"Nana, I'm sorry. At that time there might have been a misunderstanding. But I can't serve Mr. Han anymore, he intends to harass me."
"Karin, have you forgotten what it means to please customers? It means you have to fulfill their wishes, including if they want your body."
Karin nodded slowly.
"I can't do it, Na," said Karin.
"Okay, I should have known you were like this. I shouldn't have helped you work here in the first place. I'll tell the boss that you have stopped work here," said Nana who then walked away from there.
***
Karin stepped on the road unsteadily. Matthew who followed immediately followed the girl's steps.
"Don't be so heartbroken, you should be glad you stopped working at the bar. That's not the place for you," said Matthew.
"Where's your car?" Karin asked.
"Why?"
"I want to go home," Karin answered shortly.
***
That night, Karin was so angry with herself. Again she was going out from work. She then took Matthew to a tavern on the side of the road.
"Matthew, the famous actor, you must have never been here before. You have to accompany me to drink," Karin said as she poured soju into a glass.
"Karin, let's go home," said Matthew.
"You're drunk."
Karin even smirked while shaking her head. Her cheeks were red.
"I'm not drunk. Who said I was? I just drank a little."
"Okay, you're not drunk, but let's go home," said Matthew again.
"Drink, you drink first. You must drink!" Karin ordered in a forced tone. Matthew fulfilled that girl's request.
"Look, I've had a drink. Now let's go home!"
Karin nodded. Matthew then helped the girl to standing in her feet and led her to the car.
***
Edwin stared out the window. He felt uneasy since knowing Karin was still staying at the hotel. When he asked Silvi, Karin's best friend said they had a fight and Karin chose not to go home.
"I have to go after her," Edwin said to himself, then hurried off. But when he arrived at the hotel, Edwin saw Karin laughing at Matthew. The girl's hand also wrapped around Matthew's shoulder. Without meet with Karin, Edwin left from there. He feels very sad and
disappointed.
***
"You're always like this. Drink, get drunk, and then sleep. You won't even know what happened to you. No wonder Silvi is so worried about you," said Matthew as he looked at Karin who had fallen asleep. After putting a blanket on Karin, he then walked out of that girl's room.
When he got outside, Matthew immediately took his cell phone from his pocket and called someone.
"Hello, you have to help find something for me," he said to the person on the other end.
***
Anna knocked on Edwin's door repeatedly the next afternoon. That day, Edwin didn't come to work and his cell phone wasn't even active. This is of course made Anna anxious. Therefore, after work she went straight to Edwin's house. Not long, that man opened the door with a wrinkled face.
"What are you doing? Are you sick?" asked Anna in a worried voice. Her hand reached out to touch that man's forehead. But Edwin stepped back instead.
"It's okay, I'm fine," Edwin said later.
Anna looked at the face of the man in front of her then shook her head.
"I can't believe you're okay. Your face looks so gloomy and pale. Something must have happened and it has to do with Karin."
Edwin was silent until Anna spoke again,
"What happened? Did something happen to Karin?"
Edwin remained silent for a moment.
"Karin didn't come home with Silvi. She's still at the hotel with Matthew," he said then in a low voice.
"Edwin," Anna said in a low voice, taking that man's hand. But Edwin then withdrew his hand.
"I went to the hotel to see her. I wanted to invite her to stay in this house so I could take care of her, but Karin was with that man," he said with sad voice.
"They seem so affectionate and happy."
Edwin looked at Anna and shook his head.
"There used to be Vian and now Matthew, I don't know when will Karin look at me and realize that I'm the one who loves her the most?"
"What about you, Edwin?" said Anna, who had been silent for a while. Edwin was stunned.
"When will you look at me because I love you the most?" she then asked him.
