Chapter 8: Chapter 8

"Just stop it, Blaze!" she said, irritated. When Blaze wasn't in school, Ella had a peaceful life, but today her peaceful world is in turmoil again. When she entered the gate earlier, the first thing she saw was Blaze's annoying face.

"Admit it first, love," he said cheekily. Ella rolled her eyes while crossing her arms over her chest.

"Admit what!?" she said, raising her voice.

"That you missed me," Blaze replied with a smug look on his face. Ella looked at him as if he was gone crazy. She shook her head and laughed.

"You are full of confidence, huh?" she said. "But no, I don't," she added and walked away, smiling triumphantly. Blaze grabbed Ella's arm, causing her to bump into his chest. She shivered in his touch. She felt the sparks flying once again.

"I don't believe you, sweetie," he huskily whispered in her ear.

"Let go!" Ella said, turning red and stammering. Blaze chuckled and let her go. Ella suddenly felt regretful.

"Ella? Are you okay?" Blaze worriedly asked. "You spaced out," he added. Ella nodded absentmindedly and turned her back at him. She started walking away, clutching the strap of her bag tightly.

"Ella, wait!" Blaze shouted. Ella didn't look back, and this time, she walked at a breakneck pace.

"I said, wait!" he said and spun her around.

"What the hell is your problem, Blaze?" Ella shouted at his face. "I have other things to do, so please, don't bother me!" she added angrily. Though what she said was a lie. Ella doesn't want to associate herself more with Blaze. The sparks she felt kept confusing her mind, and she doesn't want that.

"And what was it that you will do?" Blaze asked. He wanted to know everything about his mate, even the little things.

"None of your fucking business, Reese," she spat and ran away, leaving Blaze dumbfounded. Ella went to the library to rest because her heart was beating erratically.

Blaze entered the Dean's office in a foul mood. He's vexed at how Ella reacted earlier. Blaze grudgingly slumped on the couch, waiting for the Dean.

"What can I do for you, Mr. Reese?" the Dean asked and sat on her swivel chair.

"I want to change my schedule, same as Ella Merlyn Scott," he directly said. The Dean clasped her hands and looked at him.

"Do you mind if I ask?" she said. "Why would you want to change your schedule?" she added thoughtfully. Blaze isn't someone who carelessly flaunts his power. This is why the Dean was curious about his sudden request.

"Because that girl is your future Luna, and I need to be with her," he said, grinning widely. The Dean looked taken aback but smiled at him.

"Yes, Alpha," she said and bowed her head. Blaze stood up. His foul mood was gone after mentioning Ella being his mate. "Blaze?" the Dean called. Blaze glanced at her and saw her holding her phone.

"I sincerely congratulate you on finding your mate," she said. Blaze nodded his head and went out of her office. He went to the classroom where he will be with his mate again. When Blaze got inside, Ella glared at him. He mentally chuckled and sat beside her. The professor entered carrying a book. He glances at Blaze but didn't say a word and began the class.

"Today, we are going to have an activity. It will be by pair," the professor said. "You have to know your partner and present it on the front after. This has something to do with our topic," he added, putting the book down. Murmurs filled the small classroom while Ella groaned. She doesn't like these kinds of activities. She prefers to work alone.

"Listen carefully while I call the pairs," the professor said.

"Cruz and Reyes," he said. Then one by one, he started calling the students paired together. Ella closed her eyes, wishing she won't be paired with the boy she hated. Blaze amusingly glanced at her. An idea struck his mind.

"Partner me with Ms. Scott," he said, mind-linking the professor. He stopped talking for a minute and cleared his throat.

"Yes, Alpha," he replied.

"Scott and Reese," he said. Her ears tingled, hearing her surname.

"What!?" she yelled in surprise. The whole class stared at her. Ella awkwardly smiled and sat again. Blaze secretly laughed while looking at her face.

"Do you have a problem, Ms. Scott?" the professor asked and fixed his glasses.

"No, Sir," she said. The professor nodded his head and continued calling names. When he finished, he gave the hand-out to the students. Blaze gaped at her.

"Hi, sweet pea," he said. Ella looked at her and rolled her eyes. Out of all students, she was unlucky to get Blaze Reese as her partner in the activity.

"So, what's your favorite color, sweat pea?" Blaze sweetly asked.

"Violet, you?" she asked. "And please, don't call me weird pet names," she added. Blaze chuckled and wrote what she said on the paper.

"Blue," he answered. Ella nodded her head and wrote it on her paper. "Do you like animals?" Blaze asked.

"Yes," Ella replied. The image of the wolf she met last night flashed through her mind. It was majestic.

"What is it?" Blaze asked.

"A wolf," she said and smiled at him. Blaze stiffened on his seat. He clenched his hand into a fist.

"Y-yes," he cleared his throat and wrote on the paper. "I like wolves too," he said enthusiastically. After the activity, the professor announced the class dismissal. Ella put all of her things inside her bag. She went out of the classroom, not noticing that Blaze was walking beside her.

"What do you want, Blaze?" Ella asked and crossed her arms.

"My friends invited me to a party," he said, putting his hands on his side pockets.

"And then?" she said, raising an eyebrow.

"I just want you to know," Blaze said and scratched the back of his head. He couldn't believe he was shy in front of his mate.

"Blaze, it's none of my business. Besides, you are not my boyfriend," Ella seriously said. "You can do whatever you want," she said and walked away, leaving Blaze alone in the corridor. Blaze heaved a sigh. He was frustrated at how his mate was treating him.

When she arrived at her house, she did her homework on a different subject. While doing the work, she overlooked the time. It was already past seven o clock, but her mother still wasn't home. Ella sighed and prepared her dinner. Suddenly, she thought of Blaze going to a party with girls fawning over him. She quickly shook her head with those images.

Ella pulled the frozen meat on the refrigerator and put it on a clean plastic. She made sure to wash the dishes before going out of the house. Ella was planning on waiting for the wolf she met yesterday. She wanted to touch his fur and caressed his body again. Ella sat on the protruding root of the tree and put the plastic on the ground. Her visit was not in vain. She quickly saw the wolf running towards her, wagging its tail. She welcomed her with a hug and caressed his soft fur.

"I'm glad that you are here," she said. The wolf purred and began licking her face. Ella was shocked to smell his breath; it doesn't reek of blood or putrid smell. He smells nice. The wolf was also clean.

"Stop it!" she said while laughing. She pushed the wolf's face away from her. "This is for you," she added and raised the plastic bag with the meat inside. The wolf looked at her as if she was high.

"Hey! If you don't want it, then fine," she said and put the plastic bag on the ground once again. The wolf leaned his head on her thigh. Ella rubbed his head gently.

"You know what, I met someone in school," she said. "He's annoying and so full of himself," she added. The wolf's ears perked up, indicating that he was listening to Ella's story.

"His name was Blaze," she said. He keeps on pestering me, but I don't know why my stupid heart beats faster whenever he is around," she confesses. The wolf looked at her, seemingly happy with what he has heard.

"But I don't want to feel this. I don't want to feel those sparks whenever Blaze touched me," she said. The wolf whimpered while Ella smiled at him. "I don't want any of that." The wolf whined again, interrupting her.

"What's got into you?" she said and rubbed his head. "You see, my boyfriend… he's my ex now. He betrayed and cheated on me. I don't want to be in pain again. My heart won't withstand it," she muttered, wiping the stray tears that left her eyes. The wolf looked at her with a sad expression. It's like he understands her.

"I'm going home wolfy. Thank you for listening," Ella said and kissed the top of the wolf's head. Ella felt better after confessing to a wolf in front of her. She stood up and fixed her clothes. She waved her hand to the wolf and walked back to the house.
