Chapter 7: Chapter 7

On her fourth day at school, it became worst. Ella's plan to become invisible the whole year was gone. Every time she meets the students in the hall or the corridor, they greet her with all smiles. It frustrates her because she doesn't know why they are doing it.

"Ella!" Gwen shouted. Ella facepalmed, Gwyneth's annoying her again. For the past few days, she was consistently following her around. Ella tried to be mean to her as much as she can, but Gwen won't budge.

"Let's go together. Classes were canceled," she happily said and clung to Ella's arm. "They said there's a program on the gymnasium today," Gwen added with a huge grin plastered on her face. Ella rolled her eyes inwardly. She woke up early to go to school, finding out there are no classes, her irritation grew.

"I rather go home," Ella answered. She removed Gwen's hands and turned away, but Gwen quickly pulled her.

"No, we are going to the gymnasium. Besides, the guard won't let you go out anyway," she said and started walking to where the gymnasium is. Ella gave up; she couldn't do anything again.

When they entered, it was already full of students. They sat on the space at the front. The program started with the Dean's speech.

"I'm so sorry, guys. Obsession can't play today," the emcee said after the Dean spoke. Many were sad about the announcement. The gymnasium was filled with protests. Ella glanced at Gwen and poked her arm.

"Who are they?" she curiously asked.

"They are the school's band," Gwen answered. Ella nodded her head. She's not interested in them. She stood up, and without looking back, she got out of the gymnasium and went to the garden.

When she arrived, she sat on the grass. Ella was amazed at how well-maintained the garden of the school was. She took a book out of her bag and began reading. She was immersed in it when she noticed that the students were leaving the gymnasium one by one.

"Where could he be?" Ella whispered, putting the book on her face. Like Gwyneth, Blaze kept bugging her every day, and it was unusual to see that he wasn't around the campus. Ella shook her head. She shouldn't be thinking about him right now. There are other things that she needed to do.

Ella went to the cafeteria to buy her food. With her irritation still brewing, she bit the hamburger she bought hastily without knowing that Gwyneth was already on her side, bringing her food with her.

"Why was your forehead creased?" she asked. Instead of answering, Ella stood up and left the cafeteria. She doesn't know what's gotten in her. She excused herself from her professor and got a slip to go home. When she arrived, she immediately lay on her bed.

"Blaze," she muttered. "What's happening to me!? Am I attracted to him?" she added and messed her hair up.

"No, Ella. Remember what happened with your ex. He'll trick you," she said to herself and hugged her pillow. Flashbacks of when she was happy with Ashton reappeared. She wiped the tears that left her eyes and buried herself on the pillow. Ella closed her eyes, praying that the pain will go away. With a heavy heart, she drifted off to sleep.

"Alpha, you have a meeting in Winter's pack," Blaze's beta said. This was the reason why he couldn't attend school. Being the Alpha requires him to participate in the meeting, benefiting the pack actively. Blaze groaned as he doesn't want to go. In some discussions, he could order his beta to go, but today, it was different.

"Fucking hunters," he cursed under his breath. He wanted to see his mate’s face and tease her, but he couldn’t. "Let's go," he said grumpily. The four of them got in the car and drove to Winter's. Winter's pack was one of their allies, and the meeting was all about the human hunters. In this age, they still exist. They're the ones who knew about the existence of werewolves, vampires, and other creatures. The sentinels spotted them on the border, and two wolves disappeared. Their suspicion was they were kidnapped and killed by the hunters.

"Ella, my child?" Elisa called her name. She just went back from working in the clinic. Ella jerked out of her sleep and glanced at the window. It was already evening, and she had a long rest.

Her mother knocked on the door once again. Ella stood up and opened it.

"Are you alright?" her mother asked and cupped her face. "Gwen told me that you went home because you're not feeling well. Did you drink a medicine?" she added worriedly.

"I'm fine, Mom," Ella said and smiled at her.

"Are you sure?" she asked. Ella nodded her head. Elisa breathed a sigh of relief; she was thankful that her daughter was okay.

"Let's go down. I cooked your favorite," Elisa warmly said. Together, they went down the stairs and went to the kitchen.

"Mom, I'll go outside for a second," Ella said after finishing her food. She wanted to watch the night sky. She was always fascinated by the atmosphere. Ella felt comfortable just by sitting and admiring the stars and the moon.

“Stop the car,” Blaze ordered. Caleb looked at him, confused. The meeting took longer than they expected. The discussions about what to do with the hunters still left hanging, but

Raymond – Alpha of Winter pack promised to double its sentinels working around the border.

Blaze will also send some of his warriors to aide Raymond’s “Where are you going?” Caleb suspiciously asked.

“Of course, to where my mate is,” Blaze answered nonchalantly and went out of the car. He began stripping his clothes. Bones cracking, furs growing, and sharp fangs elongated. A brown wolf emerged and landed on all fours. Blaze shook his body and ran to the house where Ella was living.

“What is she doing outside?” he asked himself, seeing Ella alone while walking in the forest. “What was gotten in her mind!? It’s dangerous out here!” Blaze cursed. He carefully watched

her through the long bushes, guarding her secretly from harm. Smelling her scent made Blaze’s wolf go crazy. He missed her already. For him, it was torture without seeing her for hours.

Ella heard the twig snap. Suddenly, a large brown wolf jumped in front of her. She froze because of fear. Ella began trembling, afraid for her life. She took a step backward, tears streaming down her face. Only the moon’s brightest light illuminated the forest.

“Am I going to die here?” she whispered as she can. Ella started praying and wishing her mother well. A great escaped her, and she covered her face with shaking, thinking that if she dies here, her mother will definitely get sad. The brown wolf tackled her to the ground. Ella yelped in surprise. She decided to kick it, but it won’t move a bit.

“Let go of me, please,” she pleaded as if the wolf understands her. What happened next left Ella much baffled. The wolf whimpered and began licking her face. “Please don’t eat me,” Ella added, clasping her hands together. The wolf growled and sat in front of her. Ella moved her body away from the wolf until she collided with a tree. She stared and couldn’t help but be amazed. It was a beautiful wolf. She slowly stood up and tried approaching it. The wolf bowed his head, waiting for her patiently. With her hands still shaking, she touched the wolf’s head and caressed its fur. Ella smiled and gently removed her hands, causing the wolf to whimper once again.

“Ella!?” she heard her mother yell. “Where are you!?” Elisa added. Ella looked at the wolf and smiled.

“I’ll be back tomorrow,” she said and touched the wolf’s head for the last time before running back to the house. Blaze felt delighted; he howled and ran back to the packhouse. For him, it was the best night of his life.
