Chapter 219: Chapter 219

"I don't quite understand what you mean by that, Miss Emma," Jin answered nonchalantly while feigning a confused expression.

Already knowing that she won't be getting a satisfactory answer on the first attempt, Emma tried to play along with Jin.

"You only scored 92 in the specialisation you chose, which is barely two points above the passing marks. You're telling me to believe this score?"

Emma snorted as she finished her words.

"You're right. I still need to hone my marksmanship skills a lot," Jin stated while nodding to himself.

"Don't play dumb!" Emma banged her fist on the table in front of her and raised her voice, "Do you think I didn't witness your actions during your selection exams? I refuse to believe you have only such meagre skills in reality!"

"While I'm flattered by your appraisal of me, Miss Emma, the truth is lying plainly in front of you.

If you have any doubts, you can even ask Mr Brown about it," Jin brought up Brown to save him from the unnecessary trouble.

"Mr Brown will never give a false report, so that isn't necessary…"

Jin almost gave out a smirk when he heard this, but managed to keep his cool.

"…so that must have been that you deliberately hid your skills,"

Emma stated her conjecture.

"Then let's suppose you're right, Miss Emma. I've deliberately hidden my skills. If that's the case, then there must be a reason behind it."

Jin paused for a second and continued.

"So why do you think I'll readily tell you the truth if you question me ?"

Hearing this, Emma exhaled deeply and said, "You're right. You really have no reason to tell me the reason. However, I definitely have a reason behind questioning you,"

Emma took something out of her suit's inner pocket, placed it on the table, and slid it forward towards Jin.

It was a folded paper slip.

Jin took the slip and opened it up. Meanwhile, Emma started explaining, "Whether you agree to it or not. I know for a fact that you're lying about your skills, and I want to make sure that a talent like you doesn't decide to go to any other branch in the future.

That's my private number in your hand. Call me anytime you need something. I'll do my best to fulfil your wishes."

Jin glanced at the number on the piece of paper one more time before looking back at Emma, who had a neutral expression.

Seeing this, Jin smirked in an amused manner and playfully said, "Your dedication to the organisation is truly admirable. To think that you would even end up offering yourself for the organisation's benefit,"

A subtle furrow formed on Emma's face, which soon developed into a frown the very next moment, "No! I didn't mean it like that!"

Seeing the serious countenance, finally breaking Jin felt accomplished in his heart as he said, "Of course, I must have misunderstood. So, what tasks can you help me with?"

Jin changed the topic and said while pointing at the slip of paper in his hand.

Emma sighed in relief, seeing that Jin didn't pursue that matter anymore and soon explained, "Information, as you're aware, keeps on changing. So my people work day and night to make sure that our system is up to date.

However, instead of doing it every day, we update everything together once a week.

If you contact me, then I'll be able to help you with the latest information on individuals or items that are available in our system.

Apart from that, you can also ask me for items or information on specific things which aren't available in the application.

My motive behind doing this much for you is only to make you realise how much my branch values you.

This is all in the hope that you won't be swayed by those bastards in the future who will try to lure you into other branches."

Hatred was apparent on Emma's face as she finished her words.

'Inner politics, huh?' Jin thought in his mind, 'Whatever, it's not like it matters much to me. However, this situation does seem beneficial for my goals.'

"Thanks for the clarification," Jin smiled and continued, "It just so happens that I'm really in need of some information right now."

"Oh? Please tell." Emma asked with expectation.

"Can you prepare lists of the top 20 Virologists, Immunologists, Biotechnologists and Clinical Researchers in Valeyria?" Jin asked without any hesitation.

"This…why would you need something ?" A frown formed on Emma's face as she truly wasn't expecting such a request to be made.

"Looks like it's not possible. Never mind then, I'll be going," Jin reached for the briefcase containing the laptop and was about to stand up when he was stopped by Emma's next words. Chapters fırst released on noᴠelfire.net

"When did I say it isn't possible? Three days…no two! I'll message you the details at your registered number."

Emma immediately responded.

A smile formed on Jin's face the next moment, and he reached his hand towards her, "Then I'll be waiting for the good news, Miss Emma."

"And I'll make be making sure to deliver it, Mr William," Emma shook Jin's hand and, realising that he wanted to leave, she called for the guards to guide him back.

Jin soon left the branch office under the guidance of the familiar guards and an hour later was dropped to the exact spot from where he was picked.

By the time he returned to his hotel room, it was already half past three in the morning.

After freshening up to clear his mind, he decided to call it a day and went to bed.

The next morning, when Jin woke up a little late. A few seconds later, at the top right corner of his vision, he noticed some changes.

Out of the thirty red dots, twenty were now concentrated in Kalium, while the remaining ones were segregated in different places in Roscosta.

There were also two dots that seemed to be moving over the sea at great speed.

One towards Valeyria and the other towards Morose, indicating that they were being aerially transported.

"Interesting…" Jin muttered to himself as his gaze fell on the place the 20 out of the 30 mini trackers were concentrated.

"It looks like we share a common enemy, Ice." Jin narrowed his eyes the next moment as his expression became ruthless.
