Sapphire was the one behind it, but why?
Was she the one who killed Kezya?
Why her?
Why Charlie?
I have too many questions and I don’t know if I’ll ever find the answers.
“You don’t think Sapphire would do that right, Emmy?” Diamond asks Emerald.
“I don’t know. But I know she’s the one who kidnapped Ruby” she says with a quizzical look on her face.
“We have the sister pact, we should support each other, not kill each other”
Sister pact? Are they serious?
I always hated Sapphire for her guts but I never knew she’d go to the extinct where she’d hurt her own sister. I can tell they are ashamed to be related to her.
We enter the Ann Brooke Falls; I’ve always hated this place. I had my first heart break here. Whenever they threw parties at the den, I’d end up drunk and cry my eyes out for nothing.
We walk for what feels like hours and then, suddenly an idea pops up.
“What device was she using?” I ask Jack.
“Um, Tablet”
If she was using a Tablet to send those messages, she must be having it now.
“Track it” I say.
He nods and settles down and starts working on it.
After fifteen minutes he shouts, “They are here!”
A flash of fear passes through me but I push them out, “How far?”
“The party den” he answers and we all gasp.
Emerald takes out a gun, “We’ve got no time to waste”
“Whoa, whoa. Where in the world did you get that?” Jack says pointing at the gun.
“This one’s my father. When I heard Diamond on the phone, it seemed like we were going on an adventure. So I bought one, for safety”
A proud smile spreads on Diamond’s face.
“Let’s go” I say and we take the route to the den.
After few minutes we hear a gunshot and then another, all the hope I had vanishes just like that.
Fighting my tears, I start to run towards the den.
By the time I reach it, my legs are shaking and I am out of breath, without thinking I enter it and a strong smell of fresh blood makes me gag.
“Look who’s here!” I hear a voice say.
I turn towards the voice and gasp.
“W-Wesley?” I say, “What are you doing here?”
“You still haven’t figured it out?” he laughs.
Then, everything rushes back to me. He returned the journal, the earring, her doodle book. Everything that meant so much to Kezya.
“Where is he?” I scream.
I turn and in the pitch blackness I could see Sapphire standing over passed out Charlie, he’s lying in a pool of blood and my throat closes up.
He’s not moving.
He’s gone. Just like that.
“Honey, you missed the amazing climax” she says.
I fall down on my knees, I gave up. I gave up on Kezya and now Charlie. The two people I love the most.
Jack, Diamond and Emerald enter in and Diamond helps me up stand on my legs but I am too weak.
Emerald points her gun at Sapphire, “You were never my sister. You broke our pact”
Wesley points his gun at Emerald, “You do anything to her, and I am going to kill you”
In one swift moment Emerald points her gun at Wesley and click. He falls down and screams in pain.
“That must shut you up” she says a evil smirk spreading her lips.
Diamond unties Ruby who’s in a corner unconscious, she’s not shot. She’s alive.
She takes the rope to Wesley and ties him up. He wriggles in pain. Sapphire stands still.
“K-ken?” he says stifling, he’s there, and he’s alive. I run to him, he’s shot in the shoulder.
I hug him, and I could feel his breathe on my hair. “Don’t leave me Charlie, stay with me”
I hear a wail of sirens and people moving but right now, I want to be with him. I am not going to give up on him.
“Y-you came here for me?” he asks, I pull back and look him in the eyes.
“Of course I came back for you; I always come back for you”
He smiles, a pained smile.
A drop of blood rolls down from his nose and his breathing slows, “I love you, Kendal Hughes”
He closes his eyes, the sirens come closer and my eyes become blurry.
I know we are getting out of here, I know Charlie is going to be alive. I don’t know how but I just know.
