Ruby lies helplessly on the floor unconscious. She’s bleeding in her head. She can survive if we escape.

Sapphire and Wesley, I should have guessed, the double trouble. But why Kezya? What did she do to deserve to die? It should’ve been me, whatever the reason was.

I am tied up and entirely powerless. The moment I woke up, I knew where I was, the party den. I spent most my high school days here, how could I not know? And my life is going to end here.

A flash of sunlight falls on me and Sapphire enters with her grim smile and Wesley follows her with even more wider grin.

Sapphire pouts her lip when she sees me, “Oh, guess who’s wake”

Wesley sits on a rock and eyes me.

“What now Wes? You want to kill me? Do it already”

“Oh, I am not going to. She is going to do it”, he says pointing finger at Sapphire, “and I am going to enjoy every single scream that you let out”

I shake my head, “You killed her, didn’t you?”

Sapphire laughs, “Oh honey, we didn’t. She did it to herself. We were just her triggers”

I flinch at her words, we were her triggers.

“What did you do to her?”

“Oh, it was simple” answers Wesley, “And all it took was a game”

“Why?” I cry out.

“Why?” he laughs, “Why? You are the reason!”

“You had everything. Fuck! Everything! You have my scholarship, you have the fame, and you have the money. And I wanted to hurt you, badly, and there she was. She was your everything, I knew from the start if she’s gone, you’d fall apart and I’d have everything I ever wished for”, he pauses and laughs again. “Believe me, we didn’t kill her. She was already depressed and we triggered her depression, we took everything she loved, like her amazing doodle book. God, eve it was filled with pictures of you and her journals that she loved the most. She had nothing to pour her feelings into and then, just like we planned, she was gone”

I stay quiet; I remember how devastated she was when her doodle book went missing and then her journals, my gifted earring. I told her that it was fine. But she never was fine.

I am the reason she’s dead.

“You are the reason she’s dead” Sapphire says like she’s reading my thoughts.

“Do you know how much I loved you? More than my sisters, and all you could see was that bitch. God, what did she have in her?”

She had everything in her to keep me sane. But I wasn’t someone to keep her happy.

“Kill me. But leave Ruby out of it. She has nothing to do with me” I say, feeling defeated.

Sapphire scoffs, “Oh we are not going to leave anyone alive out of here”
