Chapter 87: Chapter 87

Chapter 87

In a large room, littered with empty wine bottles on the floor, a man lay disheveled on the sofa in rumpled clothing. When he finally sobered up a bit, he saw the news about Flora and Enzo spreading all over social media. Ron, still groggy from his intoxication, was astonished as he read the articles and comments on social media.

"Lies... they don't know anything about Flora, they've all been brainwashed by Enzo." Ron mumbled softly, running his hand through his hair.

Ron tried to contact his subordinates to remove the baseless articles and posts from social media. If they had been posted this way, Flora must have seen them, and Ron blamed himself for drinking too much and not being sober enough to prevent this from happening.

But what made him angry was that his subordinates couldn't take down those articles. It was as if they had been intentionally created by someone. Grinding his teeth, Ron suspected that it was all Enzo's doing. He had whitewashed himself and pinned all the blame on Flora.

Ron wrote a few articles to counter the prejudices and negative comments about Flora, but he couldn't fight this battle alone. Public opinion was like a massive wave, and Ron felt like a small fish struggling against the current.

He paced nervously, worrying about Flora, not knowing how she would react when she read these articles.

"Do you see this? The media has reported it; this is the truth. Everyone knows that you're a fool for trusting that conniving woman!" Ron's younger sister, who had despised Flora ever since the incident with their father's company, shouted at him.

Furious, Ron retorted, "Just be quiet. Flora isn't like that. I've been with her for over six years, and I know who she is. These news are all written by people who don't understand anything."

This was the first time his brother had shouted at her like this, leaving her stunned. "You're shouting at me because of her? Are you crazy? Now you want to be with her, and because of her, our family's company is in trouble, and our mother nearly died. Because of her, you're reduced to a pauper. Do you even realize that?"

"Alright, stop arguing. Ron, the wedding has been arranged, and the invitations have been sent out. It's time to move on from the past and look to the future. Everything should end here," Ron's father interjected, aware of his son's feelings for the woman named Flora.

Ron could only remain silent and clench his fists, overwhelmed by emotions. The thought of what Flora had to endure at the moment and the fact that he had to marry someone he didn't love made Ron feel like he wanted to die.

"You should understand that if you marry Anna, it will not only benefit our company but also keep Enzo Robert away from our family. I know the feelings you have for that woman, but you and she will never be together. You need to give up," his mother gently advised, knowing that she used to belittle and speak ill of Flora, but she dared not say anything unpleasant now.

The wedding was quickly held to prevent Ron from drowning in alcohol and intoxication. His parents enforced a strict diet and restricted him from checking the news.

The wedding took place at the city's grandest hotel, with everything being lavish and elegant. All the guests were present and enjoying themselves, eagerly awaiting a glimpse of the bride and groom.

Amidst the joyous atmosphere of the wedding, Ron, one of the two main characters, felt nothing but emptiness and boredom. Despite the lively conversations and laughter of the attendees, he felt indifferent and out of place, as if this place didn't belong to him.

Ron absentmindedly shook his glass of wine, lost in his thoughts, even as he pretended to smile and listen to a guest's conversation. Suddenly, a familiar figure passed by, completely pulling him out of his reverie.

Ignoring the guests who were talking to him, Ron rushed forward in shock and panic.

"Flora! You..." Ron exclaimed loudly, drawing the attention of some guests. He wanted to touch the woman before him, thinking that Flora had come here because of him, and they could escape together if she wished. But the beautiful scenario he had in mind did not materialize.

When Ron hadn't even had a chance to touch her, a large, rough hand forcefully grabbed and pulled his hand away. Enzo quickly pulled Flora close to his chest, his cold gaze at Ron seeming to devour him ruthlessly.

Compared to Enzo's cold stare, Enzo's demeanor was very friendly and polite as he spoke, "It's been a while, and my wife and I are here to congratulate your wedding with Anna Kim."

However, Ron didn't want to pay any attention to him. His focus was entirely on Flora. Although he was impeccably dressed in a masculine and attractive suit, his face showed signs of exhaustion. He tried to smile and look at Flora.

"I didn't know that you were here, Flora. I've..." Ron didn't finish his sentence; he wanted to express all the longing he had felt during their time apart. He wanted Flora to know how exhausted he had been, but Enzo interrupted him.

"Ron, I don't think your words are appropriate to say to my wife," Enzo said coldly, his icy gaze fixed on the man in front of him who seemed to have intentions towards his wife.

Ron wasn't deterred, and he tried to say more to Flora. However, he noticed Flora's strange reaction. From start to finish, she hadn't said a word, and her expression was emotionless, like an unfeeling machine.

"Flora, what's wrong? Please, tell me," Ron said urgently, his words filled with concern and fatigue. But Flora remained the same, standing silently and looking at Ron as if he were a stranger.

"Flora, you..." Ron wanted to say more, but Enzo, clearly angered, forcefully pulled his hand away and said loudly, "That's enough. My wife and I genuinely wanted to come here to congratulate you, but your attitude towards her is unacceptable. You should know your limits."

The guests had been paying attention to the three of them from the beginning. Enzo's presence had always been a focal point since his name was on the guest list. Ron's family and the bride's family had noticed and rushed over. Anna quickly pulled her husband away, her face paling as she realized that the man causing trouble was Enzo Robert.

Ron's family was also deeply concerned, not expecting their son to make such a big mistake by disrespecting Enzo's wife. They had invited Enzo to the wedding with the hope of building better relations between both families.

Ron was unwilling to be led away. He was certain that Flora would never behave this way, and he believed that Enzo had done something to make her act like this. But no matter how loudly he protested, he was still pulled away from the wedding scene.

The atmosphere at the party became tense, and the guests began to gossip and speculate about the situation. They were all individuals with social standing, and they had already gathered information about Enzo and his wife.

"So, the man who had an affair with Enzo Robert's wife is today's groom."

"I didn't expect Ron to be so audacious..."

"It's unbelievable that Ron didn't realize he was crossing a line by engaging with Enzo's wife."

"I never thought that I'd come to a wedding and witness such a drama."

"So, that's Enzo's wife? She doesn't seem to be a famous person, but she looks even more beautiful than in those articles."

... The guests continued to discuss Ron as a troublemaker, someone who had feelings for Enzo's wife. Once again, Enzo was praised as a generous and devoted husband for attending the wedding of his wife's lover.

After the wedding ceremony ended, the people present continued to gossip about the incident.

In the room, Ron received a strong slap from his father in the face due to his attitude and thoughtless actions, which had caused them to lose face, leaving the guests angry and annoyed. Fortunately, they had banned reporters and the press from coming here from the beginning; otherwise, the situation would have been even worse.

"Do you even know what you're doing? Do you want to die that badly?" Ron's father angrily exclaimed.

Ron looked weary, but in his mind, he still saw the image of Flora with that indifferent gaze. "She must have been harmed by Enzo in some way. Otherwise, she wouldn't be so indifferent and apathetic towards me."

Ron's father breathed heavily, almost to the point of fainting from anger. "That isn't important. If it weren't for Enzo Robert's good mood, do you think we could be having this conversation peacefully? And what about our family's reputation? How will they look at you?"

"Ron, you can't be so selfish. Flora is Enzo Robert's wife; you can never have her, and we can't meddle with Enzo." Ron's sister shouted, unable to continue watching her brother immerse himself in an unattainable and futile love that was affecting everyone.

After the severe scolding from the family, Ron just bowed his head and stared into the abyss, remaining silent for a long time.

On the private plane, Enzo chuckled softly after hearing the report from his subordinates. He looked very pleased as he watched Flora sleeping beside him. After the wedding, he and his wife immediately boarded their private plane to return. He brought Flora to Ron's wedding not because of an invitation from Ron's father, nor because he wanted to accept any reconciliation or apology from Ron's father and family. He wanted Flora to lose all hope completely.

Enzo knew that Ron's position in Flora's heart was crucial, and only when he made her completely lose hope could he be at ease. This would also prevent Ron from dreaming about his woman anymore.
