Chapter 81: Chapter 81
Chapter 81
Flora was horrified and terrified to the extreme when Enzo compelled her to watch the entire video clip, even though it lasted only five minutes, it felt like five hours to Flora. Enzo gazed at Flora, who had fainted from fear, feeling deeply disappointed and disheartened. Originally, he had revisited this video solely to prove his own innocence, confirming that he had been faithful to her.
The five-minute duration of the video did not capture the entirety of what had truly occurred. This was because, after the fifth minute, Enzo had accidentally knocked the camera over, causing it to shatter, which prevented it from recording the remaining events.
However, at that point, he paid little attention to it and continued relentlessly wielding a sharp saw blade in his excitement and fascination. Although his words seemed to blame Flora, his gaze towards her was incredibly tender and gentle.
"I deliberately went back to that moment just for you to see it, but you couldn't bring yourself to watch it all. You've made me very sad, Flora," Enzo softly whispered into Flora's ear, nestling his head against her neck, planting gentle kisses on her face and neck, leaving faint pink marks on her skin.
Enzo had confessed to everything, even showing Flora the video of the heinous crime he had committed. She couldn't fathom why he had committed such acts, and she firmly asserted that Enzo must be insane to take someone's life without any reason. Not only had Enzo brutally ended Rika's life, but he had also returned to the scene without fear that the police might use it as evidence to incriminate him.
After regaining consciousness, Flora's mind was in chaos and fear as she observed everything around her. She was terrified but dared not close her eyes, for every time she did, Rika's lifeless, vacant gaze became vivid in her mind.
Every minute and second, Flora remained vigilant, curled up under the blanket. Even the slightest sound from outside startled her. Only when fatigue overtook her did she ease her guard a bit, but she still felt on edge. Then she heard the familiar footsteps drawing closer to her bed, making her senses taut like the strings of a guitar.
"Flora, it's time to eat. What are you doing?" Enzo's gentle words, along with his warm voice, greeted her. He observed the woman hiding beneath the blanket, finding her adorable. In this state, she resembled a small, frightened mouse.
Flora's greatest fear was that Enzo didn't offer any excuses for his cruel and gruesome actions. Instead, he appeared to take delight in recounting them, as if they were achievements and thrilling experiences. Now she understood that the man beside her wasn't her ex-husband or a mere stalker, but rather, a deranged serial killer.
Observing Flora's lack of response, Enzo furrowed his brow slightly. He hadn't anticipated that his wife's mental state would be so fragile. Despite this, he found the situation somewhat advantageous; he hoped Flora would be less defiant than before.
Enzo decisively uncovered the blanket, and though Flora curled up, she couldn't escape his gaze. No matter how much she resisted or struggled, Enzo could force her to comply with one method: violence.
Enzo fed Flora spoonfuls of soup, holding her chin firmly and ensuring she ate every bit. Flora's strength was utterly depleted, rendering her incapable of resisting. She could only obediently consume the soup he spoon-fed her.
After finishing the meal, Enzo once again transformed into a loving and caring husband, gentle and tender. He stood up and remarked, "You did well, Flora, but I think you're unwell. You don't need to worry because I'll summon a doctor to examine you. Alright... it's time to sleep."
Enzo gently pushed Flora back onto the bed, carefully tucking her in with a blanket. He smiled at her for an extended moment, as if he was certain she would fall asleep.
Flora had consumed all the soup under Enzo's coercion, and she had planned to vomit it later when he left the room. However, now she felt overwhelmingly drowsy, her body fatigued, her eyelids heavy.
The vision became increasingly unclear, then plunged completely into darkness, with only a faint awareness that Enzo had put something into the soup.
As Enzo stepped out of the door, his demeanor and expression immediately changed. There was no longer the gentle affection he had shown Flora. At this time, the coldness and cold aura from his body made his subordinates and even Taylor hesitant to approach.
“Bring a psychiatrist here, my wife is probably sick.” Enzo said, lighting a cigarette.
One of his subordinates quickly complied and left, while the others had their own tasks and left as well, leaving only Taylor, who glanced softly at the door Enzo had just walked out of.
Taylor had anticipated this day for a while now. As Enzo's secretary for many years, she knew just how terrifying his madness and possessiveness could be. It was a personality trait that had remained hidden when Enzo had lived with Flora.
Flora was like the safety pin of a grenade, while Enzo was that grenade. Taylor could only sigh when she saw the current state of Flora, knowing that Flora would never be able to escape Enzo's grasp.
"Taylor, I have a question for you," Enzo exhaled a cloud of gray smoke, his eyes icy as he looked into the void ahead.
Taylor maintained her serious demeanor and the trademark smile on her face. "Yes, what would you like to ask me, sir?"
"Tell me, will Flora ever love me as she did before?" Enzo asked though it seemed like he already had an answer in mind.
Taylor was somewhat taken aback, not expecting Enzo to ask such a question. But the answer was apparent without asking. "Do you want to hear the truth or a lie?" Taylor gently inquired.
Upon hearing that, Enzo gave Taylor a cold look and walked away. Taylor kept her smile intact. "Madam, you now hold the power to control this demon."
As Enzo had mentioned, he had indeed invited a psychologist to meet Flora. Flora was no longer as terrified as she had been, but her gaze remained vacant, as if she had no consciousness.
The psychologist invited by Enzo was highly skilled and renowned, and it wasn't easy to get him to come. When he received the call from Enzo's subordinate, he dropped all his current work to come to Enzo's mansion.
"Flora, how are you feeling right now?" The psychologist gently inquired.
Flora glanced at him briefly and nodded without saying anything.
"Can you talk to me? Share everything that's bothering you. It's just the two of us here. I'm a psychologist, and I'm here to listen. I won't disclose anything that happens between us to anyone else. You can trust me; I won't violate my professional ethics," the psychologist smiled warmly, looking forward to helping Flora address her issues and providing her with a safe space to confide in.
It was true that Flora had been very scared of Enzo yesterday, but Flora hadn't noticed any psychological issues or the like. Enzo had simply mentioned that she was ill.
Flora looked at the psychologist in front of her and couldn't help but feel anxious and uncomfortable. Like everyone else in this mansion, this doctor was undoubtedly under Enzo's influence. Flora couldn't rule out the possibility that Enzo had planted listening devices or hidden cameras in the room. He might be watching her from a distance.
The psychologist remained patient, and Flora couldn't afford to resist because she knew that resistance would only make things worse. Flora cooperated by sharing her experiences from the previous day with Enzo, all of which were truthful and not concealed. However, when she mentioned the shocking murder case with Rika as the victim and Enzo as the culprit, the psychologist's reaction was not one of surprise but rather intense interest.
As the psychologist prepared to leave, Flora couldn't decide what she wanted to say but reached out to call him back. However, as he turned around, Flora withdrew her hand, clasped it tightly, and lowered her head, saying, "It's nothing."
Flora knew that this psychologist was brought here by Enzo, but she couldn't help but seek his help. However, she quickly realized that she couldn't seek help from anyone here.
Enzo was in a room near Flora's, sitting in front of a computer screen, his eyes fixed on every move of the woman on the screen. Enzo absentmindedly stroked his chin as he watched Flora on the screen, then smiled mysteriously.
He had originally thought that his wife would seek the help of this psychologist, and as he had anticipated, Flora had reached out to him with a plea, but when the psychologist turned to look, she hesitated. "You're getting smarter, my dear," Enzo chuckled softly, satisfied that he had correctly predicted Flora's actions. However, if Enzo's beloved wife had sought the psychologist's help at that moment, he would not have been able to leave this mansion unscathed.
Enzo turned off the screen and called Taylor, who was waiting outside, to report on the company's issues. Enzo preferred not to be far from his wife, so all the company's activities were handled by Taylor and the deputy manager, while he worked remotely and received reports from Taylor.
"... That's all. Mr. Hill, the CEO of Monodes, would like to invite you to his birthday party, and it seems he wants to introduce his daughter to you," Taylor reported, observing his boss's reaction in silence.
Upon hearing this, Enzo raised an eyebrow and asked, "Doesn't he know I'm already married?"
"He knew."
"So, he wants to offer his daughter to me for some greater benefits? In that case, decline the invitation and reject all cooperation projects with Monodes. With the reason..." Enzo paused abruptly, deep in thought. Thinking of something, he burst into laughter. "Make it known to everyone that he wants to offer his daughter to me, and spread the rumor that my wife is furious about it. And because my wife is furious, I must decline any cooperation with him."
Taylor was surprised by Enzo's unusual reasoning, unlike his usual straightforward approach. If he was displeased with something, a single word from him would lead to the downfall of the person and their company. Taylor understood that his boss was trying to make everyone aware of the high status and importance of Mrs. Flora.
"Yes, I understand, sir," Taylor replied respectfully, bowing his head, and quickly returned to his work.
