Chapter 48: Chapter 48
Chapter 48: Someone to Confide In
I looked at the two children with tears on their faces and felt extremely sad. I couldn't help but blame myself for the mess that I had caused. I held Rollo in one arm and took the small hand of Min in the other, leading them to the luxurious car that Enzo had prepared in advance. In my heart, I felt conflicted and couldn't help but look back at Roy, but he just stood there, looking at me for a long time with a worried and regretful expression on his handsome face.
I didn't know if Enzo did it intentionally or not, but he walked up to me and blocked me, purposely hiding Roy from my sight. I didn't want to be near Enzo so I turned my face away, feeling uncomfortable. He smirked and looked at Roy with a provocative expression, saying to me:
"You're so attached to your lover that you couldn't bear to leave. You're a callous woman. Remember, we are not divorced yet. So don't do something that would embarrass me."
I didn't have the mood to argue with him, perhaps I was too used to his mockery and contempt and didn't care anymore. But my indifferent and cold attitude made Enzo uncomfortable. He sat opposite me in the car and stared at me for a long time. Enzo frowned and said,
"Leave the kid aside, are you afraid that I would kill him?"
I didn't want Enzo to continue to make a scene in front of the children so I put Rollo aside and stroked his head gently to comfort him.
I felt that Enzo wanted to make things difficult for me.
"Don't talk loudly in front of the kids, we'll talk about our matters when we get home. I don't have the mood to listen now."
Enzo exhaled heavily and turned his head to the other side, crossing his legs and looking annoyed and angry. But he listened to me. During the ride back to the villa, neither of us spoke again, but his attitude did not become any more pleasant.
During the ride, the two children did not act up or cry. Rollo was scared of Enzo, as Enzo's facial expressions towards Rollo were always hostile. Min did not show any extreme attitude or anger, she held my hand tightly and kept staring at Rollo.
The atmosphere was tense not only between me and Enzo but also from the silence of Min and Rollo. No one spoke in the car but you could hear heavy breathing.
When we arrived back at the villa, I knew that once I came back here it would be difficult to leave again. I sighed and wondered why I was always bound like this.
Before we even entered the villa, Enzo looked towards the housekeeper with an annoyed expression and said loudly,
"Quick, take this kid to a room. Don't let me see him."
Then he turned to Min with a gentle and indulgent attitude and said,
"My dear, you're tired, go rest in your room."
Min nodded and ran upstairs, but before she took two steps, she turned back and looked at me. She asked Enzo,
"What about Mommy?"
I didn't want the children to witness our fight, especially as Enzo had previously said that Min had depression after I left, so I was afraid that Min would be agitated if she knew about the bad relationship between her parents.
I spoke gently to both children, "You two go to your room first. We'll have dinner together tonight."
Rollo cried and clung onto me, but then he kept silent and pursed his lips, not daring to cry any louder as he was afraid of Enzo's angry eyes looking at him.
I was not comfortable with Enzo's behavior towards Rollo, so I confronted him, saying, "Stop scaring the kid. Didn't you beat him enough yesterday?"
Enzo didn't want to argue anymore, so he yelled at the housekeeper, "Do your job!"
The housekeeper quickly carried Rollo upstairs, and another housekeeper led Min to her room.
In the living room, only Enzo and I remained. At this point, I didn't want to talk or look at Enzo. I didn't want to get close to him even a little bit.
Before I spoke, Enzo spoke first, saying,
"As for that kid, I will allow him to stay here and have a good life. I won't bring up your infidelity again. We'll act like there's nothing happened."
I didn't understand what Enzo meant, so I asked again,
"What do you mean?"
Enzo looked at me for a long time before saying,
"You don't understand or you're pretending not to understand what I'm saying."
I lost patience with Enzo's mysterious attitude and frowned.
" If you don't want to speak, it's fine, I have no desire to understand what you're saying," I said
Enzo lifted his teacup and drank calmly before speaking, his relaxed demeanor made me uneasy. He continued, "Okay if you're not clear, I'll make it clear. Firstly, we are not getting a divorce and I will never accept the idea of divorce. Secondly, you are not allowed to leave here. This is your home and I am your husband. Thirdly, I will not pay attention to your son or any other man you may have a relationship with. He can stay here, but on the condition that you do not contact or have any relationships with Roy or any other men."
I was surprised by what he said, I didn't expect him to say such words. Before, it wasn't that I didn't understand his intentions, but I thought I was hallucinating. But when he reiterated, I knew I had heard everything correctly and wasn't hallucinating.
I found it a bit funny that Enzo was holding onto me like this. With his perfect appearance, he could have any girl he wanted. And yet, he chose to stay with me, an ordinary girl with nothing special about her?
Enzo looked at me for a long time, waiting for my response. I smiled and said, "I do not agree with what you have said. I know I was wrong to Min, and I will make it up to her. As for us...the best choice is still to get a divorce."
Enzo suddenly spoke loudly, making me startle, "Are you stupid? I've been talking for a while now and you don't understand anything?"
I replied seriously, "I understand everything you're saying very well. But I do not agree with you."
Enzo laughed, his smile twisted and eerie, "Do you want a divorce because of your pathetic lover? You and I are so distant, yet you not only flirt with other men but have a child with one. And now you want a divorce? Dream on."
I took a deep breath and said firmly, "Don't you feel there's a problem with our relationship? It was wrong from the beginning. Can't you see that?"
Enzo's face after hearing me was embarrassed and suspicious. But I knew he was still stubborn and refused to see that our relationship was incompatible from the start. He was just curious and enjoyed it. I didn't want to live just for his enjoyment. There was nothing wrong with me wanting to be happy and stay away from bad people.
Enzo didn't say anything, his face getting more and more uncomfortable. I bowed my head and whispered, "It seems like you don't understand, or maybe you do but you're still holding onto it. Enzo, I've always wanted to ask you why you hold onto it like this. You're not even happy, there are plenty of women and girlfriends around you."
I was about to advise him to let go and accept the divorce, but Enzo slammed his hand on the table, making a loud noise that startled me. He said, "Shut up. Don't make me angry. I've said it, and I will not retract anything. Do not pretend to be so virtuous, Flora, you are my woman and I will never allow you to leave me."
Enzo thought I kept wanting to divorce because I was still paying attention to his affair from years ago. But the truth was, I didn't care, and I just didn't want to be with him anymore. The divorce was entirely my decision, unrelated to anything else.
I said, "I do not care if you have another woman or any other relationships. What I want is for you to accept the divorce."
Enzo laughed mockingly, raising his voice, "It's ridiculous. You should know that with just one word from me, your life could go up in flames or down to hell. So many women want me, and yet you want a divorce from me. Roy must have urged you to divorce me."
"No one urged me. It's what I want. Enzo, you need to look at reality. Even if we don't divorce, our relationship cannot be salvaged anymore." I clenched my fists, trying to control my anger, but it was useless. From the beginning to the end, Enzo didn't understand anything I said. Everything I said was like pouring water into a sieve.
Enzo sneered, "Up until now, you still want to defend your lover. I give you everything, but just because of that scumbag, you keep wanting to divorce me. I've said it before, I don't accept divorce. Don't make me cruel to your little lover. You don't know what I might do."
In the end, Enzo not only didn't listen to me at all but also persisted in his own stubborn thoughts, framing innocent people who had nothing to do with the situation.
Enzo was furious, his face turning red. He stood up and kicked the chair next to him hard, his strength shattering it into pieces. He didn't even look back at me but left the room directly. Before leaving, he spoke, "You'd better fulfill your duties as a wife and mother, Flora. Don't make me angry. I can do things you wouldn't expect. Just talking to you is already a kindness."
The door slammed loudly, and then I heard him loudly saying to someone outside, "Flora is not allowed to leave without my permission."
I sat in the room and sighed, feeling even more helpless than before. Enzo not only stubbornly refused to divorce me, but also wanted to imprison me.
"What do I do now?" I stared blankly at the ceiling, not knowing what to do to make Enzo calm down and accept what was happening.
I didn't admit from the beginning that Enzo and I were in the wrong. I loved him and agreed to marry him. But in this marriage, I only felt pain and despair. I had been despised and belittled by the man I loved for many years. In this marriage, I didn't feel happy, and it was even more ridiculous that I didn't feel like Enzo's wife.
I felt that I was not wrong in wanting to end this unhappy marriage. Min would definitely understand my feelings and thoughts. I had lost my trust in this man a long time ago, and I no longer had any hope for Enzo.
As long as I had a little hope, Enzo would extinguish it completely and mercilessly.
I slowly got up and went to the guest room. As I climbed the stairs, I felt the scrutinizing gazes of the maids, but at this moment, I didn't have the mood to pay attention to them. As long as they didn't go too far like before, it would be fine.
Enzo and I still had a conflict to resolve, so we couldn't share a room. He seemed very angry with my attitude and words.
In the guest room, I looked up at the ceiling feeling despondent. While I was lost in thought, my phone suddenly lit up. I saw that there were many messages from Roy.
He asked if I was here, whether Enzo was giving me trouble... Roy was very concerned about me, and I felt his sincere care. Every time I was lost and confused, Roy would appear like a god and care for me. If I said that I wasn't moved by this, I would definitely be lying.
I immediately called Roy, and he picked up quickly.
"Flora, are you okay? Where are you now? Is Enzo giving you a hard time?" His voice was full of anxiety and worry.
I chuckled lightly after hearing his voice full of urgency, feeling a warm current running through me. I spoke gently, "I'm okay, everything is fine. Enzo is very angry, but he didn't hurt Rollo or anyone."
Roy breathed a sigh of relief and said, "[...] Flora, you can't be negligent. Even if Enzo doesn't harm Rollo, are you sure he will be happy there? Don't worry, trust me, I will help you divorce Enzo. But I need some time."
I understood what Roy was saying. Enzo was not an ordinary person. He was rich and powerful, and all information related to him was strictly controlled because it would also affect the DIZ corporation and his family.
I nodded my head and firmly said, "I understand. Things won't be that simple..."
Before I could finish my sentence, there was a knock on the door.
