Chapter 35: Chapter 35

Chapter 35: Beginning a New Life.

Just within a month after Roy brought up the topic of going abroad with me and I agreed. But before agreeing to that, I had thought a lot to the point where I couldn't sleep many nights.

Initially, I found the idea very sudden and I didn't want to leave. After all, my daughter was still here. I was afraid that if I left, I wouldn't see Min anymore. And what if the little one couldn't see me?

The sole reason I could refuse Roy was Min, but if I stayed here, I would still have to live in exhaustion and misery in this unrequited love. Must I continue to watch Enzo date other girls and endure that just because we've divorced but still live together...

I used to think, "If that's the case, is it worth trying harder? If it's really worth it, how much longer should I continue?"

Enzo isn't an ordinary man, he's a leader and he always knows how to make everyone bow down before him. Sometimes gentle and affectionate, sometimes tough and cold, sometimes genuine and sometimes deceitful, he spun me around and made me believe he loved me too.

Enzo always knew how to make others bow down to him and accept all his flaws.

The choice to go abroad with Roy wasn't a decision made impulsively or hastily on my part. I've never been more clear-headed than now; this will be the biggest turning point in my life. In this country, Min is the only affection for me.

But I also want to be selfish for once, my daughter will still live well and happily even without me. Currently, Min isn't an ordinary child but a little princess of the Robert family.

It's better for Min not to accompany me.

Roy was quite surprised by my decision, even though I reiterated many times that I agreed to go with him. But he seemed so astonished that he couldn't believe my words, Roy's face looked bewildered by my answer, which made me chuckle.

"I am certain about my decision!" I firmly stated.

Hearing that, Roy burst into laughter:

"Hahahahaha... Are you that sure? Aren't you afraid I'm tricking you?"

I was surprised when Roy said that, our relationship wasn't overly intimate and it wasn't long-lasting either. The first time I met Roy was when I needed a lawyer, and Nana introduced him to me. Later, he became my colleague, we became close friends for almost two years, and our relationship was quite good. Currently, he's still helping me like this, making me trust him even more.

But before Roy's question, I said:

"I'm scared... but I trust you."

Roy burst into laughter upon hearing me. I found it perplexing why he would laugh like that:

"What's so funny?"

"No, nothing... I'm just very happy when you say that you trust me. Flora, I will never deceive you."

After that dinner, Roy helped me prepare my things and book the plane tickets. Almost everything was arranged by Roy, and I didn't need to do anything. I didn't want to trouble Roy too much:

"I can handle things myself; you've helped me a lot already."

Instead of letting me do it myself, he said:

"I feel really happy helping you, so don't worry."

I felt quite anxious, fearing that my plans to go abroad might be discovered by Enzo. However, Roy didn't seem concerned about it. He said:

"Don't worry, I've asked a friend to book the plane tickets for us; Enzo won't find out."

I nodded in understanding, but deep inside, I still had fears. Enzo had a lot of money, and just a word from him could turn this whole city upside down to find me.

Many people might think I'm foolish for choosing to leave, as even though Enzo didn't love me, he could offer me wealth and status if I stayed by his side. But my heart was fragile and had endured too much pain, making it impossible for me to accept that cold and heartless life.

I wanted to live a better life, one filled with love and happiness that money couldn't disturb.

We arrived in a different country, and it was only then that I learned Roy wasn't of the same nationality as me; he was a foreigner. He had come to live with his mother from a young age and had been working here for a long time after his mother's passing.

We hailed a taxi and arrived at his place after getting off the plane. It was my first time in a foreign country, so I was extremely excited:

"You really have a house here? You've never mentioned this."

Roy laughed and said:

"If I told you beforehand, there wouldn't be any surprises."

His house was in the suburbs but not too far from the city. The house in front of me was sizeable, though not as grand and beautiful as Enzo's mansion, it felt familiar and close to nature.

"It's fortunate I had this place cleaned before; we won't need to tidy up anymore." Roy said.

We brought our luggage inside, and I really liked the style of this house. The dominant color scheme was brown, creating a warm ambiance. However, I couldn't stay here for too long; it might inconvenience him.

Before coming here, I had done a lot of research on the place, food, and jobs. Luckily, my language skills were excellent, I had a driver's license, and I knew how to code. With these skills, I could live well anywhere.

"Let me stay here for a while before I find a place of my own." I said, feeling grateful for Roy's help.

But when Roy heard me say that, he furrowed his brows slightly:

"You just got here, and you already want to leave?"

I didn't understand his intent; I only knew that I wanted to start a new life somewhere, and having a place to stay was essential:

"I also need to have my own place; if you know of any available places for rent, please let me know."

Roy seemed reluctant to discuss this issue. He turned away:

"Let's talk about that later. Let me show you to your room."

And so, I stayed temporarily at Roy's house and actively searched for a place to live and work. Roy wanted me to join his company, but I declined.

...

Two months passed, and I had found a job with a decent income. The cost of living here wasn't high, so I was doing quite well. I also found a rental house; the landlord was difficult, but Roy was skilled at persuading others, so I managed to rent the house at a lower price than usual.

Roy often invited me for dinner and bought many books for me. He knew I loved reading, so he even set up a large bookshelf in the living room.

Our relationship grew close to the point that neighbors mistook us for a couple, but we immediately denied it.

Things were going smoothly until one day I saw an article online. The article was about my ex-husband Enzo Robert, and it had garnered a lot of attention due to its insights into his personal life.

They mentioned that they were still trying to trace the whereabouts of Enzo's mysterious wife, but the woman remained an unanswered question. Enzo Robert himself had remained silent on the matter and denied the women captured in the photos taken by the paparazzi.

My daughter, Min, also received media attention for her impressive language skills, even though she was only six years old.

As for the woman Enzo had an affair with, there was no information available about her anymore; it seemed like their relationship had been swept under the rug.

I read the article about Enzo, and I didn't feel any particular emotions. However, when I read about my daughter, I felt immense joy. My daughter was talented and beloved by many.
