Chapter 1666: Chapter 1666
On those small fishing boats, the strong winds carried some urgent noises. Sun Daren then saw the little boats frantically rowing towards the shore. Fortunately, these small boats were experienced and all managed to reach the shore before the storm hit.
A strange expression could not help but emerge on Sun Daren’s face. The materials used for these small boats were not ordinary wood and nails, but giant shells, crab claws, and fish bones!
No wonder they looked strange from a distance. These boats, had not people emerged from them, would have been mistaken for sea monsters by Sun Daren at first sight.
The people who came out of the boats were even stranger. Some parts of their bodies had been replaced with parts of sea beasts — Sun Daren was certain that these were "replacements", not their original bodies. For example, one tall, thin middle-aged man had a dark red giant crab claw for his left arm. However, where his arm and the claw joined, the muscle tissue was bizarrely elevated, a result of a "transplant".
Others had thick, sturdy fish scales implanted onto their bodies, two legs replaced with octopus tentacles, and some even had a fish tail attached behind their buttocks...
They worked together to pull the boats ashore, just as the heavy rain arrived. One of them wiped the rain off his face and happened to see Sun Daren standing on top of the reef.
"There’s someone there!" When Sun Daren realized that they spoke the same language as him, he became even more puzzled: Did they come from the Eight Desolations World?
An elder, whose head looked as if a large fish skull had been transplanted onto it, resembling a huge helmet, glanced at Sun Daren through the fish bones. He then looked away, saying, "He’s a waste, no need to worry about him. Secure the boat and let’s get going."
Someone, looking at the approaching storm, spat and complained, "Ever since that Overlord showed up among the Guest Clan, both groups have been affected. They’ve been smooth sailing, while we’ve been struggling to have enough food! We go out to catch fish and barely catch anything before the storm comes."
"What can we do about it, hasn’t it been for tens of thousands of years? If we had an Overlord, they’d be the ones suffering."
"I heard the Overlord of the Guest Clan fell from the sky?"
"Who knows? I heard that on the Heaven and Earth Gorge’s side, we suffered another terrible defeat, losing tens of thousands of lives. I’m afraid the new conscription order will come soon. I don’t know if I can escape it this time... Ah..."
"But according to our tradition over the past tens of thousands of years between our two races, if the heavens give them an Overlord, they will surely give us one too. But several decades have passed, and our Overlord still hasn’t appeared."
They moved away as they spoke, but Sun Daren noticed that one fellow with octopus legs kept looking back at him, seemingly with malicious intent.
Sun Daren didn’t mind, but he was somewhat suspicious about the Overlord they mentioned, who "fell from the sky": "Could it be the Inheritor?"
A giant lightning bolt struck the sea’s surface, and a huge wave surged towards the rocky coast. Sun Daren descended from the reef and walked a few miles in the direction the people had gone. He saw a small fishing village by the sea, with about dozens of households. All the houses in the village were built with materials from sea creatures. The most "luxurious" house in the village was probably a gigantic two-storey sea snail shell.
No plant could be seen around the village. Not a single coconut tree which were commonly seen along the coast of the Eight Desolations World was present here.
Remembering the elder’s earlier remark about him being a "worthless person", Sun Daren guessed these people might not be friendly, so he decided not to enter the village. Instead, he found a cave in the nearby reefs to seek temporary shelter.
The storm arrived instantly, making the world look like it was ending. Anyone would feel small and powerless under such natural forces, even those who had transplanted sea beast organs, whose strength was several times greater than ordinary people in the Eight Desolations World.
Sun Daren had seen earlier how that tall, skinny man dragged an entire boat to the shore easily with his crab claw.
Looking at the state of the storm, Sun Daren knew it wouldn’t cease anytime soon, so he lay down in the cave to sleep. His journey to this world had been extremely hard, and he was truly exhausted, physically and mentally. He soon began to snore lightly. This may have been the first real sleep Sun Daren had had in years.
Sun Daren wasn’t worried about his safety. His younger brother was having a great time playing in the storm.
The next day...the weather didn’t clear up. The storm actually lasted a full five days! Even after the storm, the sky remained dull and grey, affecting the mood of people.
Sun Daren had completely recovered his strength, but upon patting his belly, he found that with his decreased physique, he needed to eat. Fortunately, he wasn’t like ordinary people who couldn’t persist without a meal.
Sun Daren left the cave, covertly signaling his younger brother to catch him something delicious. His brother complained non-stop about not being fed for such a long time, and now having to hunt for him, but still obediently dove into the sea. Not knowing what his older brother considered "delicious", he caught several items according to his own taste.
The octopus-legged man had waited impatiently at home during the storm. As soon as the storm stopped, he shot out of his home, built from giant fish bones, his movements resembling a squid squirting ink to escape.
He quickly arrived at the large house with a two-story sea snail shell. He knocked on the door forcefully, "Barlow, Barlow, quick, open the door. It’s time to catch slaves!"
