Chapter 31: Chapter 31

...........TESSY..........

I sat on the bed with Andrew in my arms. I decided to breastfeed him immediately we returned from the hospital.

Steve has been on his knees begging for my forgiveness. He had no idea he hurt me deeply with his words.

"...I'm sorry, Tess. I was mad about the way you commended doctors. I let it get to me and I ended up saying what I'm not supposed to say" He explained apologetically.

"I'm no longer mad at you. Like they say, the truth is bitter at times. You said the truth - that's all" I muttered shrugging my shoulders.

"That's not the truth. You're smart and hardworking even though you never finished school. I still admire you a lot, alright?" He cooed dropping his head on my thighs next to the baby.

"That's enough, Steve. You're being too dramatic, right now" I scolded shaking my legs.

"Okay, I'm sorry again. I'm sure you know how much I love you, right?" He asked getting back on his feet.

"Yes...I'm aware" I answered, my pulse fluttering like an excited butterfly.

"I'm gonna book us a flight. We'll go somewhere nice - our first family vacation" He stated and I gasped.

"We can't, Steve. The baby's still too small to travel. Unless we can call the doctor and ask him if it's safe to embark on a journey with our little prince" I suggested and he nodded.

"That's not a problem. I'll call him, right away. I need to take a bath, first" He said leaving the room.

Andrew was already asleep and I'm glad he has been well taken care off before dozing off to wonderland.

.........STEVE......

"What if I get into university and get all the required certificates?" Tessy asked the moment I woke up.

I dragged myself up on the bed, rubbing my eyes till they became less itchy.

"What??" I asked in muffled breaths.

"I said...I'm thinking of going back to school! To the university. I won't be called a 'housewife' anymore. What do you think, Steve??...." She asked again pulling my arm.

"First, good morning sweetheart. Second, I thought we are already through with this. Why do you suddenly want to go back to school??" I queried feeling perturbed.

"I want to get a good job just like most women around! I might as well apply to study in a nursing school, what do you think?!!!" She rasped shaking my arm this time.

"You can't start now to study those courses. We have a baby and you need to give him an undivided attention" I remarked removing her hand from mine.

"But Steve...." She sighed and dropped her head back on the pillow.

"You can do some other things...like writing stories, poems and trying out those hidden talents you've got" I suggested and she growled loudly like some teenager.

"Alright...fine. You can go back to school and study whatever course you want but that will be after Andrew turns a year old. That will be to avoid much stress on you, what do you say?" I asked stroking her long hair.

"Fine, we've got a deal" She simmered down still on that same position.

"That's better!" I stressed and started leaving the bed.

A happy wife makes a happy home.

I got downstairs to see the maids moving around in their numbers carrying one load or the other.

What's going on?!

I heard a familiar voice coming from the kitchen. I rushed to the place and was astound to see my mom wearing an apron.

"Mom??" I called, gob smacked.

"Yes, son. Good morning" She responded and continued ordering the maids around.

"What's going on? What are you doing here??" I asked curiously.

"I'm here for breakfast of course. Go upstairs and tell your wife to get everyone cleaned up. I would like us to share a meal together, this morning" she replied with a big dubious smile on her face.
