Chapter 34: Chapter 34
“If anything should happen to my sister, I will kick your fucking ass.”
“Then both clans will go to war. Lord Gerard, your parents made a collaboration with mine, they wouldn’t sit down after hearing you….’ He reminded me.
“I don’t give a damn. I haven’t spilled so much blood in a while. Fighting thousands of wolves will sharpen my talons.’
“Are you asking for war, Lord Gerard?’
“No, I am asking you for peace but don’t provoke the beast, or else you will be my prey if anything happens to Oceana. Control the tail between your legs, Alpha, or else, we are gonna have a big problem.’
We both glared at each other for a couple of minutes before my father interrupted.
“Alpha Kai and Gerard.” He called, but our gazes were still fixed on each other, ignoring him. But I knew my father must be furious about Oceana’s attitude.
As for Kai, I know what he wants and his ulterior motive.
However; he is not getting that from me or Oceana.
Oceana’s Pov.
She was all in hysteria, with tears in her eyes, and her voice broke down. “Please tell me what’s going on. Stop leaving me in the dark. I hate it when you leave me in the dark and shut me out. You are my sister, my best friend. I don’t know when I became a stranger to you. It’s like you don’t trust me anymore and find me unreliable. You quarrelled with your siblings and you never told me. Am I so pathetic you don’t believe in me anymore?“
It hurt her. I could feel it in her tone, but my lips were too numb and weak to speak. It’s not like I think she is a loser or anything. I’m the problem here, not her.
“Oceana….”
I interrupted her. “Can we talk about this for another day?’ I spat out the last blood on the sand from my mouth and stood up on my feet.
“If you don’t tell me what’s going on, I will call everyone and tell them what is going on with you and cause more chaos.” She threatened. Her expression turned solemn as she stared at me.
“Jessie,” I whispered. She was threatening me.
Nice try.
“I need to know. Don’t think I’m threatening you or emotionally blackmailing you. In fact, you can think whatever you feel like. That’s your problem. And your expression tells me otherwise, you don’t seem troubled, you feel comfortable which shows you know what’s going wrong with you, you don’t look scared or terrified to me, you know what the fuck is…”
“I found my mate.” I blurted out, and her eyes widened, yet I continued. “He’s been by my side for ages, right under my nose. I was a fucking fool that I didn’t recognise who he was to me until we met again.”
“Met again?’ she frowned.
“Yes, but he is with someone else now.”
“Who is this person? How could your mate be with someone else? Who is he and what pack is he from?” she questioned.
“He is close to me, Jessie, someone I love so much.’ I looked at her and saw how she was focused on me to continue my story and spill the milk. I sighed, taking a deep breath. “That person is my brother.”
“Wait, what!!” she screamed.
“Yes, Jessie,” I boldly stated. “MY BROTHER IS MY MATE.” I cried bitterly as I kept holding my painful chest.
“When did you find out?” she darkly asked. I saw her clenching her fist. She was furious.
“Since the first day he came, I found out from him and became devastated.”
Jessie lost her balance and fell to the ground in shock. “You are joking, right? She looked at me. “Tell me you are joking, Oceana.”
“I’M NOT JOKING, JESSIE,” I shouted.
She held her hair in shock, her knees crawled to her chest and she seemed so cold.
I wouldn’t blame her, anyone could be in her position and react in such an attitude, even I could be in her shoes someday and behave the exact way she did.
“Who is this person?” she whispered and questioned, as if she was fearing for the worst. “Which of them is your mate?”
“Gérard,” I answered.
She sighed and looked up at the sky with tears in her eyes. “Are you suffering from the bond?”
“Yes…”
“HOW COULD YOU KEEP THIS AWAY FROM ME.” She glared at me. “Am I that insignificant in your life?”
She was hurt; I know I shouldn’t have kept it away from her; we were like family; we tell each other everything; we don’t keep this away from each other. When did we come to get to this extent? I love Jessie, but I shouldn’t have shut her out of it.
“No, Jessie, I was just too ashamed to tell you, it was killing me,” I confessed.
“But I knew the truth in the end. What’s the difference between then and now, Oceana? I still knew about it in the end. Gerard is your mate. Why didn’t I know about this all along?”
“I’m sorry, I thought I could handle it, but it failed and Gerard has gotten married to someone else. After everything I said to him, he refused to listen to me and got ahead with his plans.”
“Gérard is your mate?” We both looked at Adolph, fuming with disgust.
I quickly stood up from the ground. When did he come here and why didn’t I perceive his scent all along while I was talking?
“Adolph, when did you get back?” I fearfully asked.
“You are disgusting, you know that.” His eyes widened with shock and a second of embarrassment.
“Do not dare talk to her like that.’ Jessie stood up in my defence.
“Was that why you were asking me about the books of the forbidden mates?”
“Oceana asked for those types of books.” She didn’t seem surprised.
“Are you not her best friend? You should have known about it.”
“It is not her fault she is Gérard’s mate,”
“Adolph.” I took a step closer, but he raised his hand at me. “Do not come closer. I don’t want to see your face right now. How could you keep this from me? Do you know what you did back there? You disgrace your family, acted like a child, and ran out of the ceremony.”
“Do not dare talk to her like that.” Gérard was behind him as well. “You find out she is my mate and so what, aren’t you fated to your sister as well?”
