Chapter 33: Chapter 33

She went silent as I got up from my chair, and Kai took a couple of steps toward me.

I knew something was about to transpire. His approach, his aura, was quite odd. This isn’t a good one.

“Congratulations on your wedding, Alpha Gerard, for I am so happy to see you and your newly wedded wife. Congratulations, once again.’

“Thank you.’ I struggled to speak but maintained my cool. I took an unnoticeable breath and felt mad within me. I can’t believe he is the chosen Alpha for Oceana, what were my parents thinking choosing someone like him?

“You must have heard that Oceana is my bride-to-be,” he pridefully uttered

I nearly rolled my eyes. He is really rude, as the rumours say he is.

“Are you trying to say that I am deaf, to not know about your arranged marriage with Oceana, since you seem to know much more than me?’ I forced out a smile.

He laughed. “I mean no disrespect, Alpha Gerard. I can see that I have offended you.’

“I mentioned nothing about you disrespecting or offending me. You said all those words yourself, Alpha Kai.’

What a foolish Alpha.

He seemed a little uncomfortable at first, then smiled, nodded his head, and revealed. “I’m sorry if I misunderstood you or came at an inconvenient time. I have no other choice. This is the only way I can talk to you. You are always busy, Alpha Gerard. Once this wedding is over, I wouldn’t be seeing you anymore. You will be with your wife, having your honeymoon and even when you are back, you still won’t have the time to see me or let me see you. I can understand we are both busy with our schedules and all that, including the realms….”

I halted him. “Can you please get straight to the point, Alpha Kai?’

He talks too much.

I’m tired of standing here and looking at his face.

It feels like I have been standing here for an hour and hearing his thousand reasons was making me lose interest in whatever he is trying to say.

He sighed and began. “Oceana is delaying this marriage, and I don’t know why. I love her so much…”

I felt a slight pain in my chest, hearing those words from him.

He went on. “Believe me, Alpha Gerard, I would like you to talk to her about me, tell her to hear me out, and give me a chance. She will understand how important I am to her and…”

I interrupted. ‘She’s not completely eighteen yet. Aren’t you too fast in trying to marry her as soon as possible?’

“She’s mine. I love her so much and I want her to be mine. She will be completely eighteen in two months’ time.” he took a step forward in his red suit. “I don’t like what I saw today. She caused chaos and ran out of here. Am I supposed to be silent when I am her Alpha and do nothing? I know she is obsessed with her brothers, but it is a disadvantage for a princess like that to be against her brother’s wedding. What would have caused her to behave that way? I am dumbfounded. This is uncalled for. What will people say about her?’

Loathe to admit it, but he is right.

‘And you think wedding Oceana will keep her in control?’

“Yes, at least it will help the both of us. She doesn’t want to know me, she doesn’t want to get together with me at all. I thought if I take her as my wife…”

I couldn’t wait for him to finish his statement. I was furious.

The fact he mentioned Oceana as his wife provoked me, Oceana is not his wife yet and the fact that he is trying to be on the good side annoyed me. She is a living being and not some property he needs to keep in control, like some pet.

“Get out.’ I glared.

“What?” he asked.

“I just got married. You are contemptuous of me and you have no manners. I could throw you out right this minute if you were not so important to my family.’

“CONTEMPTUOUS? Have I offended you in any sort of way, Alpha?”

“Call me Lord Gerard.’ I demanded sternly.

“Lord…”

“Stop disturbing Oceana. She belongs to this family. Just because we have given you the privilege to step into this realm doesn’t give you the right to force her into marriage…”

“I am not forcing her into marriage…”

“That’s what it sounds and seems like to me. You are trying to keep her under supervision when she is still underage, which is to your advantage, so when she grows into an adult, you will manipulate her. She is the princess of the realm and they get to decide her marriage, which is my parents and not you. Don’t overstep your boundaries, because if you do, I will not hesitate to take action against you.’

“She is…”

“I don’t want to know if she is given to you by my parents for marriage, but it is not yet time for that, she is still a child, and oppressing and putting a lot of pressure on her will keep her away from you and give her this mindset about something else. You still have time. Don’t force her or dare to take her in as if you own her, or else I will have you dealt with, and it wouldn’t be quite funny if that happens. Do not force her into marriage. She is this family’s responsibility for now. Give her some time, she…she will come around, and let’s see what she does next.”

Deep down, I knew that wasn’t true, but I hope it was true. I’m really frightened.

One thing I’m terrified of the most is losing Oceana. I don’t care if I lose my title or wealth. She is my life. She means everything to me.

“Are you talking to me, threatening me, Alpha Gerard…”

“Lord Gerard,’ I corrected with a smirk. “If you don’t have any respect for this clan, I wouldn’t have that regard for you either. Don’t instigate me.’

“Lord Gerard, I did the honour of accepting to get married to you…”

“You did no honour, don’t act like you are the only Alpha on earth, my sister has thousands of admirers in and out of the clan, you are not the first one, Alpha Kai, don’t think of yourself as something special. Respect your position, if not your clan.’

We both stared at each other. I came forward and stood face to face with him, my white hair nearly covering my face, and I strictly cautioned him as I nearly whispered.
