Chapter 28: Chapter 28
“You are such a beautiful girl.” My mother beamed and stretched her hands for a hug from Emily and she went to her and they both hugged themselves like they’ve known each other for a long time, and have been best of friends ever since.
“Thank you so much, Mother.” She grinned happily and left my mother, who told her to sit opposite her in the same chair aside.
“You are welcome,’ she laughed. “I hope the moment you get married to my son, you are giving him a child as soon as possible.”
Emily laughed shyly.
“I want a son.” My mother requested.
A son.
“I could also give you a daughter, mother.” Emily joked.
“That will be nice, but I don’t want another Oceana. I’m having a tough time controlling her and her strong headed behaviour, so I don’t want a daughter. I want an Alpha this time. I could take him hunting, teach him how to fight, be a vigorous wolf and a lot of other things.”
“Oh, wow, that’s so great, Mother. I hope your wishes come true.”
“Thank you, my daughter.” She asked. “Have you seen my daughter?”
“Yes, I saw her and…” she paused when I shook my head to not say anything to her about what transpired between her and Oceana today.
Emily understood the message and shut up and ended up changing the topic. “She’s really sweet.”
“I’m glad you met her, and I hope you continue to get along with her. She is a very nice alpha. Don’t mind her tough attitude.”
“Yes, Mother, I can’t wait for her to teach me what I have to know. She’s so sweet and everything, it wouldn’t hurt to be friends with her.”
‘`Yes, and you are soon going to be part of the realms. Fulfil your duties and I would also love to meet your parents.’
“Alright, Mother.” She bowed before her. They had a few discussions here and there. I was so deep in my thoughts that I didn’t know when I finished my coffee.
My mother announced she was leaving and left the room. I stood up and was about to go out when Emily stopped me.
“Why did you not want me to tell her about Oceana?’
“She doesn’t have to know. Talking about it will bring more concerns,” I uttered.
“But why, the queen is her mother, and yours as well, isn’t she? Are you concerned? She will be deeply worried about Oceana?
I wasn’t in the mood for this conversation. Why was everyone talking about her today?
“Leave that discussion for another day.” I walked to the door and held the locks.
“Are you happy about this marriage, Gérard?”
I stopped and faced her with a blank expression.
If only she knows what I think in my head every day, how would she react?
“Why do you always ask unnecessary questions?”
She rolls her eyes. “Here we go again with this tough and dark attitude. What is going on, Gérard?”
I frowned. “What do you want from me, Emily?’
“You? I want your attention.” She revealed. “I feel you are hiding something from me. Since we came to this palace, you’ve been acting strange, avoiding me as if I’m invisible. I don’t want that from you. I want my Alpha close to me…”
“I don’t have time for all that you are requesting of me. I have other things to do and I’m in deep thoughts, don’t always make this about you.”
“Is that so?’ My words hurt her, so I grabbed the handle of the door and walked out of there.
I needed to clear my head. If I had stayed there any longer, I would have said some words I might end up regretting later and causing more issues.
I walked along the hallway when I saw Carmine talking on his phone and smiling like some love sick fool.
I walked past him when he quickly held my arm.
“Yeah, don’t worry about it.” He says on the phone. “I will call you later, be with your phone, alright, yeah, have a great day, beautiful.”
Shit, he’s so romantic about things like this.
He hung up on his phone and stared deeply at me.
“What the fuck is that look?’ I half grinned.
“You are fucking losing quite a weight. Are you scared or filled with the anxiety of the full moon fast approaching?”
I sighed and rubbed my temples. “I am not…”
“I know you well more than yourself.”
I smiled. “Bastard.”
“I’m serious here.’ He chuckled, then turned solemn. “Who is going to be with you?”
“Emily,” I replied.
“You are as stubborn as a bull, brother.” He spoke.
“Thanks, Carmine. I am not ready to risk it.”
“We’ve been through a lot together. Are you perhaps scared of…”
“Can we stop talking about this?”
"Huh! Why?!'
"Why is everyone talking about her today? Can you guys just give me a break?!'
"Not with that look on your face.'
'What look?!'
"The look of "I want to burn this place down if I don't get what I want because I am fucking worried" something like that.' he winked.
"You are so fucked up, Carmine.'
He laughed. “I saw Oceana begging you, why don’t you think about this, Gérard? This can’t wait for long.”
“She’s a child, Carmine, don’t you get it? She doesn’t know what she’s saying. She will regret it as more time passes. She will become a complete lady and wish…”
“But she doesn’t want to grow. She has always loved you since when you were a kid. I just want you to make the right decision. This suffering has been going on for too long that it is time to set it free and you know what I mean by that. I can’t watch you suffer anymore. I’m tired of watching you be like this. How do you endure the pain?” My problems filled him with concern.
I was grateful he had always been by my side since I was born and I’m doing this for a good reason or else our asses will get burned.
“I’m used to it,” I responded.
He had always been there when times were hard. How I will cry every night, how my wolf will howl and cry out to my mate to bond and mark.
It is a terrible experience no one would want to face. The realms taught alphas to face so much pain and bond with their mate immediately they make an encounter. To avoid them from going insane while I’m one of the rarest alphas who has held out this long and kept sane.
