Chapter 27: Chapter 27

I bit my lower lip to stop myself from speaking out of shape and getting myself in deep trouble and causing more questions, which I despise.

I am a grown-ass fucking Alpha, but that doesn’t stop me from doing what I love to do, for the fact I’m not fierce doesn’t mean that I have to be.

If I had known she was going to speak of Oceana, I would have walked out the instant I saw her.

I wanted to get out of here.

“Nothing is going on between me and Oceana, Mother. Why do you ask and what the shit is going on for you to ask me such a question?”

She sounded relieved at my statement. What had she heard and what was she thinking?

“Are you sure, Gérard?’ Her intense look was bothering me.

“What are you trying to say, Mother?’

“Oceana demands to meet her mate at the werewolves’ ceremony.”

I was stunned. Could this day get any worse for me? What the hell is going on?

Shit!!

She went on. “She was so excited when she heard you were coming back. I don’t know what’s occurring in her head these days. She’s distant, and it seems like you know something and wouldn’t tell me either, but I still want to know.”

She will think of me as some freak, if she finds out I lust after her daughter, my sister, every fucking night and you know what’s worse, I’m her mate and she wants to attend the werewolves’ ceremony.

Is she nuts?

How is our mother going to deal with the fucking truth? She wants to act like a mother and solve all her children’s problems, but the question is, can she handle the burden of finding out our secret?

The thought of me sleeping with Oceana and claiming her as my mate.

Come to think of it, is she trying to play games with me?

How is it my business that she wants to go to the werewolves’ ceremony, since when was I getting informed of what Oceana wants to do with her life?

I know that was such a dumb decision for Oceana to go for the werewolves ceremony, she wouldn’t do such a thing when she knows who I am or else she has some ulterior motive or is my mother just testing me to see how I was going to react to the conversation she was bringing on.

Was some stupid rumour spreading around in the realms?

“Don’t butt into something you can’t handle just because you can ask the question.” I stated, and she seemed surprised. “What are you saying, Gérard?”

“Mother, as you can see, there is nothing wrong or going on with Oceana and I, but if you continue to persist, then I will assume that you think I have something to hide.” I raised my leg, hung it on the other as I sat down properly and looked at her with my black boots on. My black long sleeve, which of course is a turtle, a long jacket covering my body and dark blue trousers.

I had to look up to see if the air conditioner was on.

'Why would I think you have some sort of secret or do you have one that I’m unaware of concerning Oceana?’

I looked over at her and pretended to laugh out loud with my white hair getting in the way.

“Why are you laughing?’

“You are so hilarious, mother.’ I needed to laugh it off, or else this will get more serious than it already is.

“She is obsessed with you and Carmine. I’m serious here. If no one knows better, they will think the both of you are her mates.” She revealed.

Her words startled me, but I continued cracking up.

It was better to pretend I know nothing of what she was talking about.

“This is not funny, Gerard.’ She sighed. ‘She holds you people so dear, like her life depends on it.’

“Why do you think so, Mother? We are her siblings, are we not?’

“People are talking, Gérard, it’s having a stain on the realms.” She stressed out her words.

I gave a long sigh. “That’s why I told you to find a good alpha for her. Those rumours will stop when she sees a man by her side, a powerful Alpha, which will make the rumours cease and suppress itself. She’s only leaning on us because we are close to her. We are the only ones she trusts.’

“That’s what I will do now, get her married as soon as possible. No need to waste time anymore.” She agreed.

“That’s such a good idea.” I nodded. “She should get married, I think.” I gave a soft chuckle, feeling a slight pain in my heart. What was I saying?

“Exactly, you are right, Gérard.” She smiled and softly touched my shoulder. “How is your body? How are you coping with the full moon without a mate?”

I bit my lower lip, soughed and put on a bold and noble expression. “I’m getting used to it. After all, I get to heal after that.”

“Is that the reason you are getting married to Emily? She’s such a sweetheart.”

“Of course, she is such a sweetheart.” I laughed. “Since I’m not destined for a mate, what else can I do but choose the one I love and live happily ever after with?”

That was my fate anyway.

“You are going to mark her, right?”

I was a bit stunned, but I maintained my expression. How come I never thought of that?

“Aren’t you going to mark her, since she is going to be your wife?”

I couldn’t say a word. I felt numb and out of words to say. How come I never thought of marking Emily? Damn it, I can’t mark her or else Oceana will suffer from the bond.

Suddenly, the door opened and Emily came in with my coffee and set it down on the table in front of me. I ducked down, took it and tasted it.

It was pretty good and milky.

Thank Goodness, she came and broke the tension.

“Thank you, I love it.” I smiled at her and she was so happy I could see it on her face, glad she interrupted the conversation between me and my mother. I didn’t know how to answer that question.

Or probably, I could just lie to her about marking Emily, but when the time comes and I don’t do it, everyone will have suspicions about me and could create all kinds of ways to get to me and that will be a tremendous shame.
