Chapter 20: Chapter 20
A thousand years ago, the Red Lycan Pack was also known for having white hair.
A wolf without its white hair was condemned and thrown out of the clan, seeing them as phoney.
They didn't spare their lives either and they can do anything to protect their clan.
"Whatever.' I rolled my eyes.
"They both are amazing. Powerful and filled with impressive auras and pheromones. Everyone is thrilled to see them. The pack wouldn't stop talking about them.' He pointed out and I knew who he was referring to.
"You must have also heard that my brothers are back. The clan's news spread like wildfire across the realms." I sneezed and hugged my chest avoiding his expression.
He took a seat beside me, where my mother sat and sighed. "Aren't you happy that your brothers are back? Haven't you always wanted to see them all these years?"
Adolph is two years older than me. He is also my best friend.
Jessie and I both grew up together with him.
He is highly from a respected clan, so he knows me so well.
"Did Mom tell you to come to talk to me?'
He shrugged his shoulders. "No, your Mom only told me why you were downcast when I asked her what went on at the chambers." He explained.
My Mom is fond of telling the people I'm the closest to, to come talk or advise me on certain stuff and I don't like that about her.
Just because I'm close to them doesn't mean I always listen to them anyway.
"I see." I rolled my eyes.
"Let's go see them.'
"I don't want to, I want to be all by myself." I said.
Adolph got up and stretched out his hand. "Let's go outside, princess."
I looked at his hand and scoffed. "To do what," I questioned.
"You need some fresh air. This room is already smelling of your tears. Let the maids come in and clear it up, if you don't want to see them." He laughed.
"Why are you laughing?'
"I'm not laughing, I'm stretching." He rolled his eyes and softly chuckled.
"Seriously," I said.
He finally surrendered. "Okay, you just look so hilarious, your face is funny,' he giggled. "Come on, no playing. Get up now." He dragged my hand and pulled me up from the bed. "You are such a lightweight."
Well, I haven't eaten properly for days.
I stood still, after getting my balance and pulled my hand away from him. "I don't want your mate to see me with you and start getting suspicious," I grumbled.
"You are my best friend, she knows that."
"But, she doesn't like me, she looks at me as if every minute now, I'm going to snatch you away from her. She doesn't see me as your best friend."
He laughed. "You understand how wolves are. They love to protect their property and their territory, she's nice."
"That doesn't mean she will attack anyone that comes across it. The person might just have good intentions," I added.
"Well, not everyone thinks like you do, Oceana, unless you prove it to them." He said and pointed to the door. "Follow me. Let's work through the garden and discuss specific stuff."
Adolph was close to six feet tall.
Dark purple eyes, pointed nose, clenched jaw, a handsome man who everyone adored, he was quite muscular, toned muscles, tattoos at his back, and a very white skin and pale pink lips.
When he turned twenty, he came across his mate and bonded with her.
We haven't gotten the chance to see each other as we normally do, since he mated with her.
His mate is an attractive lady with almond silhouette eyes, everyone loves her.
She's super kind but she has this tendency to be extremely jealous when anyone, especially a female comes close to her mate.
I sometimes wonder what she thinks in that head of hers.
I sighed and followed him through the hallway, passing the maids then stopped midway.
Adolph must have noticed I wasn't following next to him and swivelled to me. "What is it?'
I know I shouldn't be asking or saying this but I'm super curious about what he thinks of them.
Asking him and knowing his opinion will surely release some of my thoughts from my head.
"If…if you find out, I mean hypothetically." I shut my eyes and opened them and gaze at his dark purple eyes. "Your sister…I mean if you find out your sister is your mate, what are you going to do, Adolph."
"You mean, my sister? The biological one." Adolph has a pretty younger sister, who loves to brag about her clan.
And she's pretty strong too.
Well, we don't usually get along, because she is always trying to compete with me in everything I do to show how good she is.
And Adolph being who he is, loves to call some people his siblings because of how friendly they are to him.
"Yes,' I nodded.
He thought for a moment and said. "It's kind of complicated because it's a taboo and it's been banned for a thousand years and burnt out of history. If such a thing still exists, one of them has to die." He revealed.
My eyes lit up in shock.
"Yes, Oceana,' he looked away from me and repeated the same words. "One of them will have to die or else they will both die."
"Why does one of them have to die?'
"It's quite simple. To save the other one.'
"To save the other one?!"
"Yes. Especially when the male wolf is an Alpha. The realms value Alphas you know more than anything. So, they would kill the other one to save the Alpha. As they would claim to prevent the Alpha from falling into temptation because of the other one. You know Alphas are extremely moved by their mate because of the mate bond and their love for them. It has to be done to prevent that from happening and from the public."
"What if the Alpha can't survive the reality that his mate is dead and gets broken instead?'
"The realms don't care. That's why I also said both of them have to die. If the other can't accept the fact that his mate is gone, and can't function properly, they would have him killed."
"But why? They were ordained by the moon goddess, it isn't their fault. They never asked of them being fated mates. Why should they die?" I quickly reacted.
"I don't know. More stories about them were sold out a thousand years ago. I don't know much but if we are caught reading such books or acting on it, they will have our heads. The realms are not going to take it likely. But what I do know is that it is forbidden. It was also said a thousand years ago, they were brutally slaughtered because it was getting out of hand. They were causing commotions all over the place. Paedophiles were seen engaging in disgusting acts..."
