Chapter 99: Chapter 99

Winter's POV

"You have something to tell me?" grandpa kept on looking alternately at me and Matthew as soon as we arrived at his office. I called him this morning saying there is something we want to inform him about.

I glanced at Matthew, who was just sitting next to me with a serious expression on his face.

"Mr. Wesley, know this would surprise you. But first of all, I would like to make it clear that I have clean intentions toward your granddaughter."

"Yes, of course, I know that."

"Matthew is my boyfriend now, grandpa." I straightforwardly blurted, with a smile on my face.

Grandpa looked so surprised, then he suddenly spoke. "Boyfriend? Isn't he your husband?"

"Grandpa, we all know that marriage was fake. What we mean right now is that we have a genuine relationship. I love Matthew, and he loves me too."

"Mr. Wesley, I know it's—

"Oh, you two. I know it already. You don't have to tell me about your relationship when I already knew from the start that you're going to fall in love with each other."

Matthew and I glanced at each other with widened eyes. "What?"

"Ah, what you should inform me about is your marriage and when you're going to give me grandchildren."

"G-Grandpa!"

"Oh, well. I know you're still young to be married yet and there are things you still need to know about each other. But I just want the two of you to promise me that you will always take care of and love each other. Can you promise me that?"

We both nodded our heads and responded. "Promise."

"That's right. I'm so glad that my lonely granddaughter finally found a boyfriend."

"Grandpa, you really love teasing me just because I never had a boyfriend."

"Of course, not."

"Mr. Wesley, I know you still have a lot of important things to do. We will be going now and not waste any much of your time." Matthew stood up and even lowered his head to pay respect to grandpa.

I pouted at him. "Why are you so formal towards grandpa when you can also call him grandpa?"

"It's just—

Before we could even leave grandpa's office, the door went open and my parents came in together with Summer.

"Oh, I knew it was you, Winter, and Matthew!" Summer cooed.

"Yes, it's us. And so we are going now. Let's go." I said as I grabbed Matthew's hand.

"Looks like you finally fell in love with each other, huh? Are your feelings the same now? Oh God, Winter. You really have no taste when it comes to me." mom suddenly said. "Who's going to pay for the food when the two of you go out to have dinner? For sure it's you."

I rolled my eyes and faced her. Matthew was even trying to stop me, but I didn't mind him. "And so what if I'm the one who pays for it? Matthew loves me, and that's enough for me. I don't need a man who would pay for everything I want. Now, if you please give some respect and leave us alone."

"You shouldn't have talked to your mom like that."

"And why not? He just insulted you in front of me."

Matthew heaved a sigh. "It's alright with me. I don't get offended by it."

"But I do. I get offended whenever someone tries to insult you or whenever someone says something bad about you."

He didn't expect me to say that, but then a smile appeared on his face. "I see. Then from now on, I will never let anyone insult me again, especially in front of my pumpkin."

"That's right. No one has the right to belittle you just because you're not as rich as our family. Don't ever let anyone look down on you."

Matthew already got rid of his cast, but grandpa still asked him to have one more day to rest. That's why we're roaming around the city together again.

"Is there anything that you would like to try for the first time?" I asked him out of the blue.

"Huh?"

"Like something you haven't done yet. Maybe something that your parents never allowed you to do, but you've always wanted to try it."

He thought deeply at first, then he looked at me. "Well, I have always wanted to get soaked in the rain."

"But we have already done that before, right? By the way, why don't your parents allow you to play in the rain? They must be so caring towards you."

"Yes, they were."

"Anyway, it's not raining today, so—

As if the earth heard Matthew, the rain started pouring down. I glanced at him with widened eyes.

"Well, I guess things are going according to my plan."

"Fine, fine. Everything goes on your side."

We stayed standing in the middle of busy people shoving through each other. Some were running, avoiding getting soaked by the rain that didn't seem to stop at any moment. I looked up at Matthew and a smile immediately appeared on my face as soon as I saw him having so much fun. I swept the hair that was covering his eyes.

"Pumpkin."

"Huh?"

"There is actually something that I've been wanting to experience."

His brows furrowed while looking straight into my eyes. "What is it?"

"Actually, I only get to do it during the filming of some melodrama or rom-com. I think it's so romantic and I've always dreamed of doing it with the man I want to be with forever." I stretched my legs and tiptoed in front of him to meet his height. Then I put both of my hands on his shoulders.

Matthew was just staring into my eyes as I moved my face closer and closer to him. I claimed his lips, just like how he claimed my heart.

I was never this possessive about something or someone. I was used to not having everything I want. But right now, I want him for me. The man in front of me, I want all of him.
