Chapter 90: Chapter 90

Winter's POV

It's been a week now since I started avoiding Matthew. It was kind of hard at first, but I think the day will come when I finally won't care about him, just like when we first met each other. He still tries to talk to me, but I'm always ignoring him as if he doesn't exist at all.

"Miss Winter, are you mad with brother?"

I almost got choked on the sandwich I was eating when Elisse suddenly asked me that. It was Sunday, and so I wanted to go out with her to have some fun.

I took a sip of my lemon tea before looking at her again. "Mad at him? Why are you asking me that?"

"Because I no longer see you talking to each other. Whenever brother tries to talk to you, you ignore him. Did brother do something bad? Don't you love him anymore?"

"Elisse, listen to me. I'm not mad at him, okay? It's just that it's better not to talk to him, even for a while. It's something that you won't understand, for now, okay? But I'm not mad at your brother. Don't worry about anything. For sure, one of these days you'll see us talking to each other again."

Elisse nodded her head. "I understand, Miss Winter. I'll wait until the two of you finally talk to each other again."

"That's my girl," I said, as I patted her head. "By the way, do you want to go to the amusement park? I heard they opened a new booth there. Want to check it out?"

"Yes!"

After having our snack, we then decided to head to the amusement park. I just let Elisse have some fun while playing with the other kids as I watched them. At least I still have a reason to smile. At least Elisse is here to make me feel like I'm not alone again.

"Don't go too far, okay? I'll just go to the toilet!" I reminded Elisse as I stood up from the bench.

"Yes, Miss Winter! We'll just play here!"

I smiled at her, then I started walking towards the toilet.

Elisse has now a lot of friends, and I am so happy for her. At least, she'll get to have a beautiful childhood with her best friends unlike me when I was a kid who was hated by the surrounding kids.

After re-touching my makeup, I finally stepped out of the toilet and started looking for Elisse. I was able to immediately see her near the booths and so I started walking over to them. But then just as I was about to call her name, someone appeared from behind me and covered my nose with a handkerchief that smelled weird. The next thing I know, I already lost consciousness.

Themis' POV

"Stop crying now. Don't worry, Elisse, we will be able to find her again." Belle kept on consoling Elisse, who has been crying since the time we found her at the amusement park.

They went out this morning to have some fun outside, but then a while ago, a police officer called us saying that a child has been crying at the amusement park. Winter left her phone, and also her bag, so it's more likely that someone abducted her.

Although I don't know who, and I don't even know the motive behind it.

"Where's Winter?! Where is she?!"

Ian suddenly barged into the mansion looking for Winter. When he saw me, he walked over to me and pulled me by the collar of the shirt that I was wearing. "Where is she, huh?! Where's Winter?!"

"We're still looking for her. Please, let go of me." I calmly told him.

With his hands shaking with anger, he let go of me. "What happened? Did someone kidnap her?"

"We're still finding out about that, but that's more likely what happened. I don't think she would leave without even telling Elisse and without bringing her phone and bag with her."

"Of course, she won't! Are you dumb?! Why would she leave like that?!"

Belle stood up and stepped between me and Ian. "Please, don't fight in front of a kid. That's not good for her."

"I'm going to find Winter and I don't care if you help me or not. And you know what I would do when I finally find her? I will take her away from you and you will never see her again." Ian said with gritted teeth to me, then he finally left after that.

I balled my hands into fists as I watched him walk out of the door. When I felt Belle's hand on my shoulder, I turned around and looked at her. "Belle, can you watch over Elisse until I come back?"

"O-Of course, I will. Wait, don't tell me you're going out at this time? It's already late in the evening, The—I mean, Matthew. You should take some rest and proceed looking for her tomorrow."

"I can't sleep knowing that Winter was kidnapped by some strangers. I won't forgive myself if something ever happens to her."

"Matthew..."

"Please, take care of Elisse. I need to go now."

I stooped down in front of Elisse who was just confusingly looking at me. "Elisse, behave here. I will find Winter and I will take her back here, okay?"

"Promise?"

"Promise."

After saying a promise to her, I wore my coat and left the mansion to find Winter.

I will find her no matter what happens. I can never afford to forgive myself if something bad ever happens to her.
