Chapter 500: Chapter 500
On October 10th, Japan time, in a sea area near Osaka.
The sun was fierce, the sea and sky reflected each other, but a deserted island on the sea was shrouded in bottomless darkness, as if God had neglected this island, thus casting a bleak cloud solely over it.
This is the habitat of the Light-Eating Bee tribe. Sunlight is the main nutritional source for the Bee Race, so during the day, their clan takes turns absorbing sunlight, as if holding some evil ritual.
As batch after batch of Bee Race took turns consuming the sunlight spilled over the island, the island had to remain engulfed in darkness for a long time. There wasn’t even a trace of a gap; any sunlight that fell on the island was consumed by the Bee Race at the first moment.
So until nightfall, their feeding would only stop, and under such circumstances, only moonlight and artificial light could shine onto this island.
At this moment, at the center of the island, atop a steep mountain, hung a gigantic hive.
The hexagonal hive glowed, like a brightly lit aerial garden, still and suspended in mid-air, undoubtedly becoming the island’s most striking structure.
Its size was as if three or four football fields had been connected together.
And at this moment, four distinct-looking Light-Eating Bees were staggered at the entrance of the hive. ɴᴇᴡ ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀʀᴇ ᴘᴜʙʟɪsʜᴇᴅ ᴏɴ 𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙡✶𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙚✶𝙣𝙚𝙩
Their appearance was vastly different from ordinary Light-Eating Bees, but most of them had human body contours.
The leading Great Bee Lord "Qiao" had an elongated tail, with dark skin all over, his facial features identical to humans, his upright pupils emitting a striking golden light, two pairs of hexagonal wings grew behind his back, each wing resembling a hive.
The Second Bee Lord "Guli" was wingless, purple-skinned entirely, his pupils were purple too, and his tail was connected to a giant hammer. Among the Four Great Bee Lords, he was the tallest, with robust limbs, and his physique like that of a bodybuilding champion, exuding intense impact.
The Third Bee Lord "Cameron" was slender with a human female face, blue pupils. She wore a sea-blue dress, her short hair topped with a blue bow, and behind her were a pair of massive wings like a bird.
The Fourth Bee Lord "Malvite" had a relatively ordinary appearance, golden all over, with well-proportioned limbs, and a pair of transparent thin wings at his back. He looked like a larger ordinary Light-Eating Bee, but his face lacked the enormous bee stinger, replaced by the normal facial features of a human youth.
At this moment, "Qiao" and "Malvite," the two Bee Lords, sat on the ground at the hive entrance, each with a hand playing cards;
"Cameron" lay on the ground, pressing down the corpse of a small human boy beneath her. She propped her cheek with one hand, smiling slightly, using the boy’s hand to hold a pen, drawing in a notebook;
"Guli" rubbed the giant hammer connected to his tail with the stones inside the hive, making clanging noises, sparks flying.
Malvite looked down at the cards in his claws, scratched his head, and used his transparent wings to pat off the dust on the ground, "Qiao, I really don’t understand what’s fun about these human things."
"I don’t understand either." Qiao said, "That’s why it’s meaningful, something is only interesting when it’s unknown... humans as well, once you completely understand them, they become dull."
Guli said while sharpening the giant hammer, "Weren’t humans originally our food?"
"Qiao, Guli, Malvite, look, look! I’m drawing with his corpse!" Cameron said, suddenly sitting up from the ground.
She grabbed the boy’s two hands, and lifted the boy’s corpse high above her head.
The other three Bee Lords turned their heads, only to see the boy’s eye sockets were hollow, with only two streams of fresh blood flowing out. His left hand held a pencil, the right hand still grasping a notebook, both hands were already frozen.
On the notebook, the blood and pencil strokes mixed together, drawing a playful smiley face on the notebook.
"What’s fun about this?" Malvite sighed, "Hurry and eat it up."
"Such lowly creatures should be in our stomachs, not used as decorations." Guli swung the giant hammer on his tail.
"But... don’t you think he’s cute?" Cameron raised her finger to her chin, glanced at the boy’s blood-stained hollow eye sockets, then looked at Guli and Malvite.
Qiao quietly withdrew his gaze from the boy’s corpse, continued playing cards with Malvite.
"I’m tired of playing." Cameron suddenly straightened up, "Here you go, Guli." She said, tossing the boy’s corpse towards Guli.
"I don’t eat such undeveloped food; it’s not even as good as fruit."
Guli swung the giant hammer at the end of his tail, smashing the boy’s corpse, turning it into a mist of blood splattering on the wall.
He turned his head, watching Qiao and Malvite playing cards, "You guys stop playing; the Queen Bee has instructed the worker bees to bring the captured empowered individuals over, so now we should feast."
"Why do we need to feed?" Qiao suddenly asked.
Cameron curled her lips, "According to the Queen Bee, as long as we feed on those special humans, we can develop our potential and gain unique abilities."
"And what’s the point of gaining abilities?" Qiao asked again.
Guli said, "Of course, it’s to trample the lower species beneath our feet and conquer the world."
"And what’s the point of conquering the world?" Qiao glanced at his hand of cards, took out one, and placed it on the ground.
