Chapter 57: Chapter 57
Third Person’s POV
The old man, currently sitting on his throne, was waiting for the rogues to bring him one of the prisoners that had escaped. The door creaked open, and two rogues dragged Alpha Louis hand in hand. Alpha Louis was drenched in blood and was satisfied that his queen had escaped. No, he can die peacefully. The rogues threw Alpha Louis on the ground when they got near the old man.
“You, sneaky bastard!” The old man shouted at Alpha Louis.
“Hahaha, what’s wrong? You look so anxious,” Alpha Louis said while smirking at the old man.
The old man hurriedly gets down from his throne and stomps at Alpha Louis. “I spared your life, and this is how you repay me?!” The old man shouted at Alpha Louis and continued kicking the Alpha, who was dying.
When Alpha Louis didn’t feel any kicking and heard the old man going back to his so-called throne, he pushed himself for him to sit on the floor. He spat some of his blood and glared at the old man. “I’ve been telling you from the start you won’t succeed, and you never will,” Alpha Louis said mockingly. The old man’s face turned red because of anger.
“KILL HIM!” The old man shouted.
Alpha Louis’s head rolled down to the ground in an instant. Klaus, who severed the head of Alpha Louis, licked the blood on his fingers and smiled happily. “Clean it,” The old man said, disgusted at the sight of the corpse. One of his subordinates entered the room and cleaned the corpse. When the cleaner left, the old man sighed in frustration.
“Why so anxious, old man?” Klaus asked sarcastically.
“Why, you say? YOU LET THEM ESCAPE, YOU DAMN FOOL!” The old man shouted furiously at Klaus.
Klaus just rolled his eyes at the old man for overacting. “You sound like I intentionally let them escape. You are starting to hurt my feelings,” Klaus said, acting hurt.
“You? Hurt? Hahaha,” The old man laughs, knowing that Klaus is just acting. “Well, you should get ready,” the old man added, and Klaus gave him a confused look.
“What do you mean?” Klaus asked while raising a brow.
“Let’s do the one you wanted the most” The old man smirked, seeing Klaus’s excited face.
“Finally, old man!” Klaus exclaimed and grinned like a kid who got candy.
“Ready our troops. It’s now time to clean up this wretched country,” The old man said and stood from his seat. He turned his back on Klaus and left the room.
Meanwhile, one of the rogues outside the office heard everything and told Merlin that there would be war. Merlin became nervous and looked at the child she was holding in her arms. “Don’t worry, and everything will now end,” the witch whispered into the child’s ear.
Clara’s POV
I entered the secret room with Erik following me from behind. I could feel that he wanted to ask me many questions, but I chose to ignore them. He must be opening our link for me to handle it. I focused on walking while looking around, the room was in front of us, and the room had nothing in it. The room has only one table in the middle and a chair. My eyes grew big when I saw a book on the table. I hurriedly walked towards the table and took the book. I hugged the book on my chest and turned my back to leave.
“Let’s go,” I said, and Erik followed.
When we got out, we heard someone shout outside. Erik and I both rushed out to see what happened and saw Luna on the floor, screaming in pain. “What happened?” I asked. The crowd moved to give us space, and I saw my brother on the floor, trying to calm Luna.
“What’s wrong?” Erik asked again. Vincent had a nervous expression, and I squatted down. I held the back of the Luna while Vincent stood beside Erik.
“She just suddenly screamed out of nowhere,” Vincent said, and I looked back at Luna.
“Let me know what’s wrong,” I asked Luna softly. She looked at me, and when she realized who I was, she immediately grabbed both of my shoulders.
“He-he’s gone!” She shouted while sobbing. She then screamed in pain again, and I understood what she meant. I felt pity. Yes, I pitied her, so I hugged her tightly. I caressed her back and tried calming her down. In a few seconds, she then pushed me and broke the hug. She held her head with both hands and started screaming in pain.
“Make her unconscious,” I said loudly for all of them to hear, and I stood. No one dared to hurt their Luna. I looked at Erik and Vincent and waited for one of them to move to make Luna unconscious. Erik and Vincent looked at each other. Vincent sighed in defeat, walked toward Luna, and hit her in the back of her neck, making her unconscious. Not long after Vincent hit her, Luna became quiet, and someone caught her before she fell to the ground.
One of the members brought Luna to her room, and everyone was looking at me, waiting for me to tell them what had happened, and I sighed.
“Alpha Louis is dead,” I said, and in those words, all of them kneeled and cried.
I turned my back and was about to leave when I decided to tell them, and they had the right to know. “Alpha Louis never betrayed anyone. They captured, locked him up, and tortured him for years, and even used his face and name to deceive all of us. He is the reason I survived and managed to escape by sacrificing his own life.”
They all cried while listening to my story. I turned my back again and started to walk away.
“Wait! Wait, please!” Someone shouted. I turned my back and saw a young lad that looked like Alpha Louis. “He must be the heir,” I thought.
I didn’t bother to reply and just faced him quietly. “Can you please tell me his last moments?” He asked while looking at me with determination. I was taken aback by the power I felt in his eyes.
“He was smiling brightly at me. Thanking me for allowing him to be with me in his last moments,” I said and smiled at them sadly.
“My pitiful queen, I am too old and tired in this life of mine. You have to survive to look for your child. They are planning to sacrifice your son to be a vessel. Go back to my pack house and look for my hidden study between the walls. I have my diary there. Oh, child, please survive and not blame yourself. I thank the moon goddess for allowing me to protect our rulers.”
“I, Clara Lee Smith, the queen of werewolves, thank Alpha Louis for sacrificing himself for the better good of this country. I recognized your bravery and was thankful for your sacrifice. I promise I will protect your pack members and ensure no harm will befall them.”
“I pray for your survival, my queen.”
“I am glad that this time, I managed to help. Thank you, your highness, and say hello to Ellie and his majesty for me, goodbye.”
I repeated our conversation, and everyone was quiet. I gathered my courage to face them and see their hostility towards me, but I saw admiration and determination.
I smiled sadly at them and looked at the wall. “It seems that you raised quite an heir, Alpha Louis,” I whispered and turned my back on them to leave. I heard footsteps behind me, smelled the air, and recognized their scents. It was Erik and Vincent.
“Let’s go back together. The car is outside,” Erik said from behind, and I just listened quietly. I walked my way until I arrived outside and entered the car first. The two followed, and we heard someone shouting outside when we were about to go. I peeked through the window and saw the Luna, “Wait, please!” She desperately shouted.
I opened the card door and left the car. “What is it?” I asked.
“I-is he really, really gone?” She asked.
“I’m sorry, but yes,” I replied calmly.
“He gathered our warriors to go and help the late father of his majesty and came back by himself. After that, he changed, I knew all along that he was not my mate, but I made myself believe that he was my mate. I couldn’t feel our mate bond for years, but I didn’t think it was true. I’m sorry, your majesty and your highness, but please, please give the death of my mate justice, please,” She explained and begged. The image of Alpha Louis being chained up in the cell returned to me, and I bit my lip due to frustration.
“Yes, I will,” I said while smiling brightly.
“Thank you, our pack will give everything for the war,” she said and looked at me with determined eyes.
“Thank you for that, and I will not let the death of Alpha Louis in vain,” I said, turned my back on her, and returned inside the car.
The ride back to the pack house of Alpha Kyle and Luna Rica was quiet. Obviously, my companions wanted to ask something, but they dared not. Before they got out of the car, I decided to talk to them. “Alpha Louis said that both of you and Ellie should take care and be sorry until the end,” I said, and Erik looked back at me from the driver’s seat with wide eyes.
“He was really happy when he knew you both survived,” I added and left the car first. I felt from our mate link that Erik started crying and some of his regrets.
I headed straight to Alpha Kyle’s office and saw the couple inside. “Your highness,” they both greeted, and I nodded. “I want to ask something,” I said and sat on the chair in front of Alpha Kyle while Luna Rica was seated across from me.
“Ask anything, your highness?” Alpha Kyle replied softly.
“Can you send someone to look for something for me?” I said.
“Who are you looking for?” Luna Rica asked with an anxious look.
“I’m not looking for someone other than my child. I want you to send someone back to Alpha Louis’s pack and look for a big tree. The bigger it is, the better,” I said calmly and stood.
“Yes, your highness,” he said, and the couple stood to bow to me.
I made my way toward my room and coincidently saw Erik coming out from his room beside me. He looked surprised to see me and avoided eye contact. He was about to pass through me when I grabbed his arm. He looked more surprised, and I felt the electricity throughout my body from our touch. “Stupid mate link,” I thought. I immediately removed my hand from his arm, and he looked hurt at the sudden rejection. I sighed and looked at him. “I’m heading out,” I said.
“Where are you going? Ah, never mind, take care,” he said and walked past me. “Come with me,” I said, and he turned his head to look back at me. I smiled awkwardly and entered my room.
I felt guilty when I noticed how tired Erik looked. It must be his wolf that is making him tired since I rejected him from the start when we got reunited. As expected, I still feel irritated and angry at Erik. I know I shouldn’t get mad at him and blame him for what happened. It was all my fault from the start since I was weak. I sighed and slumped myself onto the bed. I curled and hugged my knees.
Before I let my sleep take over me, I thought about my child. “My child, I am coming. Please survive and wait for your mother,” I thought and cried.
