Chapter 47: Chapter 47
Vincent’s POV
I stopped the troops from marching and let them set our camp for the night. I want to march nonstop, but that will tire out the troops. If something unexpected happens on the battlefield, I don’t want to say that we just lost because we were tired.
The troops built their tents expertly and are now cooking some food. I let them do what they want except run around or leave our ground. I am in my tent reviewing our plans to attack the Alpha Louis pack.
Our plans seem perfect, but I am thinking of a plan b in case something happens.
Erik is decisive, while I am always curious and somewhat perfectionist. I looked at the map of Alpha Louis’s territory, and when everything was set. I closed the map and put it in my bag. I closed my tent and tucked myself into my sleeping back. I thought about Tia while drifting to sleep.
•••••
“Is everyone set?” I asked the warriors using my stern voice.
They nodded, and we continued our march to the territory of Alpha Louis. The recent events and information I gathered about Alpha Louis were confusing. Alpha Louis always leaves his pack and lets his beta do all the work. Wherever Alpha Louis was going is still unknown. This action of Alpha Louis was weird since he is a workaholic.
“Why would a workaholic leave his work to others?” I thought. Erik was a workaholic, he never rested then, but he met Clara.
Whenever Clara asks for him, he will immediately put everything on hold to give his full attention to Clara. I got jealous at some point of both of them. I’ve been looking for my mate every time I gathered some information, but it was always in vain.
Now that Tia is on my side, every little thing that surrounds me makes me happy. While thinking about my mate, I didn’t notice that we had almost arrived at our target location. I stopped the advancement of the troops and signaled them to surround the premises slowly.
I advanced by myself, and when I was at the entrance of their territory, I shouted. “Alpha Louis, in the name of the King, I, Vincent Lee, have come to give you the verdict of our King!” I shouted. No one responded, and I whistled for every warrior to hear. They marched forward the territory in every direction.
“Attack! Capture who surrenders and kill everyone who fights! Find and bring Alpha Louis to me!” I ordered, and everyone moved to attack the pack of Alpha Louis.
“WAIT! PLEASE WAIT!”
Everyone stopped and glanced at the one who shouted. I recognized the man rushing towards me with a desperate look.
“Where is your Alpha?” I asked the wolf panting in front of me with a threatening voice. “He left, sir.”
“Shit!” I cursed in my thoughts. I greeted my teeth and faced the troops. “SEARCH THE PREMISES! DON’T LET THE TRAITOR GET AWAY!” I shouted my order to the warriors.
“You have to be kidding me! We were careful on our march and didn’t let any information get out!
Someone leaked the information!” I said to myself. I looked at the wolf and released all of my killing intent.
I recognized that he was the beta of this pack. The one who runs the pack and has control while the Alpha plays around. “Do you have a say in this?” I said. He gulped anxiously and bent the knee.
“Sir, I do not know what is happening, but I heard you said, traitor. We did not betray our King and Queen,” The wolf explained with a trembling voice.
“Where did he go?”
“I do not know, sir. He has been leaving the pack now and then. Our Luna even shut herself in her room, and I have been running the pack by myself for years now, sir, believe me, we did not betray the royals,” The wolf pleaded, and I just smirked at him.
“Tie him up,” I said coldly.
“Sir! Sir! Please believe me, and we did not betray his majesty!” The wolf continued to plead for his life.
“Explain that to his majesty,” I said, and he became speechless, his eyes full of fear. He was scared to face his majesty since his Alpha was a traitor.
“Half of the troops will continue surrounding the pack. Don’t even let a rat leave until further notice from his majesty! The other men, follow me back to our King,” I instructed sternly.
I turned and left. I will check my pack and find that rat. This is a great disappointment that I will give to Erik. Of all of my failures, this one is the one that stings. I cannot accept that the first time I led the troops as an Alpha failed. I angrily greeted my teeth and continued my march back to our territory. I looked behind, “Shift, we need to report this to his majesty as soon as possible,” I ordered and shifted to my wolf form.
I felt my four paws on the ground, howled, and started to run. I swiftly avoided the rocks and any obstacles on my path. I glanced from behind, and the warriors were following from behind easily. Seeing that they can manage more speed, I fasten up the pace. We have been playing in the palm of the enemy, and this is not good for Erik. They will start and belittle him. I won’t let that happen. Not on my watch!
Third Person’s POV
“You imbecile!” The old wolf threw his cup of coffee to Klaus, who came back from attacking the territory of the royals.
“It’s not like they found you,” Klaus said while smirking at the old wolf. He planned for this, he didn’t like the old wolf ordering him around, but this old wolf found out what happened early.
Klaus was disappointed. He was thinking and wanted to find his informant. Considering that the informant is more clever than the wolf he got. He returned to his senses when the older man shouted at him again.
“All our plans will be ruined if I haven’t left the pack early!”
“Give it a break, will you? It’s not like you got caught or anything,” Klaus said while shrugging his shoulders.
“Enough. Don’t make any more mistakes!” The old wolf said.
Klaus left the room and headed to his place. The old wolf sighed in his seat and pinched the bridge of his nose. “After you do your role, I will personally kill you,” The old wolf said.
After resting in his office for a few more hours, the old wolf headed to the basement where they held their prisoners. He stood in front of a cell, looking down on a wolf that was chained inside the cell.
“You are stubborn as always,” He said. The chained wolf looked up at the old wolf weakly and smirked.
“You can’t bring me down that easily,” He said with confidence in his voice.
The older man let out an evil laugh. “I can kill you anytime I want. It’s just that you still have some use. That’s why you’re alive,” The old man said threateningly.
“Whatever your plans are, you will not succeed in the end. Your plans will always fail,” The chained wolf snarled.
“Let’s see,” The old man said and laughed while turning his back to the cell. He left and went to his quarters. He took a map from his drawer and laid it on the table.
“Everything is set. I will wait for the final pawn for my plan,” He said while twirling his glass of alcohol.
Vincent’s POV
We are running back to the pack house nonstop since we need to get around and report this to Erik as soon as possible. I looked back at the troops and heard their heavy breathing. I looked for a place where we could rest for a while until I heard of a river not too far. I let the troops run until the river came into view. I stopped and motioned for the soldiers to rest. They all stopped on their march immediately and rushed to the river to drink.
I know it’s exhausting, but we are in a rush. I know I don’t need to explain myself to the troops since they understand the situation. While resting on the ground, countless questions keep popping into my head.
“Is the beta said true? That they didn’t betray the royals? Or is this one of their plots? Did Alpha Louis abandon his pack, or he just lost interest in running his pack?”
Whatever the reason is, it is a fact that Alpha Louis is a traitor, and there is someone in the pack that leaks information to him.
“Is it one of the recruits? Or is his informant already part of the pack that decided to betray us from the start?”
Erik will fume in rage if he hears about the escape of Alpha Louis. The pack house will be turned upside down, looking for the traitor. I couldn’t believe we had a traitor in our pack since Erik and I always checked everyone’s movement to avoid looking out for the traitor.
I sighed and looked around at the troops. They seemed rested enough, so I stood and howled. After that, I ran fast. We were getting near our territory, so I decided to run as fast as I could until I could mind-link Erik.
When we got near the territory, I tried mind-linking Erik countless times until I got connected.
“Finally,” I exclaimed.
“Vince? How? Are you near the territory?” Erik asked.
“We have a problem, and Alpha Louis got away.”
“WHAT!” Erik exclaimed, and I closed my eyes, feeling his authority through the link. I sighed and glanced at the troops.
“I will arrive in 15 minutes, my king,” I replied and fastened my pace until we reached the borders. The pack came into view, and I stopped running. I howled, signaling the troops to stop.
“Hon, make way for us through the barrier,” I said to Tia through the mind-link. We waited for a few seconds, and an entrance appeared in the barrier. I entered while the troops followed. As we entered, the barrier closed from behind.
“Take a rest, and I will talk to our King,” I said with authority in my voice. The wolves nodded at me and dispersed.
I made my way to where the throne room was located. As I walked, countless pack members greeted me, and I smiled at them. Tia joined me midway with a worried look on her face.
“Erik is furious. What happened? Clara barely calmed him down,” She said, and I gulped nervously.
“Alpha Louis escaped,” I said with a serious face.
Tia’s face grew pale, and she bit her lower lip. I patted her head, and she pouted while fixing her hair. “Don’t worry,” I said. She nodded, and we faced the door in the throne room.
One of the guards bowed at us and opened the door. I entered and saw Erik sitting in his throne room with a grimace on his face while Clara was seated beside him. I gulped anxiously as I walked closer to the royals. When I arrived in front of them, I crouched down on one knee.
“Your majesty and Your highness,” I greeted while Tia did a curtsy doing the same greeting.
“Tell me what happened,” Erik said threateningly, releasing some of his aura.
We may be close like brothers, but it doesn’t change the fact that he has a higher status than me. That I am his servant.
“Forgive me, your majesty, when we arrived at his pack, he was already gone,” I reported.
“HOW DID THIS HAPPEN? WHY DID YOU LET THIS HAPPEN, ALPHA VINCENT!” Erik exclaimed, and I lowered my head at him. The pressure was heavy since he let out all of his aura at me.
“I came back with his beta, and I think that there is a traitor among us,” I said with a trembling voice.
“Tell me, Luna, who is the wolf that went out these past few weeks?” Erik ordered.
I glanced at my mate from below, and she bowed her head, biting her lip. “Your majesty, I don’t think I can say, let me confi-”
“TELL ME!” Erik shouted, not letting my mate finish her sentence. Tia fell to the ground on Erik’s aura directed to her. My wolf whined, wanting to help our mate. I closed my eyes and calmed my wolf.
“I-it was,” Tia said while stuttering. I glanced at her and saw her gulp, and fear was evident on her face. She gulped one more time before talking.
“It was Ms. Ellie, your majesty.”
