Chapter 28: Chapter 28
Erik's POV
I am sitting beside the bed, looking after my mate. "Please wake up," I whispered to her, hoping she would reply. I am holding her hands, not letting her go, alert that she will wake up any minute.
As minutes passed, Tia, together with Vincent, stormed inside the room. Tia immediately walked towards Clara, examining her body, checking if there was something she could do, but it was the same, her body was rejecting her spells. "What should I do?" I asked Vincent, who came closer to me. "It's been two days, Vince," I said, trying my best not to cry in front of them. Vincent put his hand on my shoulder and squeezed it. "You have to be strong, brother. I'm sure she will come back," He said, comforting me and giving me some hope.
We stayed there beside Clara, waiting for movements from her. I just sat there, looking at her unconscious body.
"Look!" Vincent exclaimed. We all looked at her body, and it was glowing. I stood up immediately, causing the chair to fall.
"What's happening?" I asked, worried about her condition.
Tia tried casting some spells on her even though the spells didn't work. The glow on Clara's body became brighter, and something left her body.
Some beautiful woman showed herself with a majestic aura that surrounded her. My wolf howled like it was greeting her. Tia became alert, ready to attack the woman at any time. She must not have felt it, the motherly vibes that she gives. My inner self is telling me that she is not an enemy, and I am even calm even if I am facing someone I don't know that even came out of my mate's body.
The woman smiled at us. "Who are you?!" Tia said, interrogating the woman.
"I am Evangeline," She said. She was introducing herself. My eyes grew big at hearing the name. I stepped back and bowed. Vincent also did some.
"How are you, my son?" She asked. Initially confused, I looked at Clara and understood what she meant.
"Tell me, our goddess, what happened to my mate?" I asked, carefully choosing my words.
"Her wolf was drowning, and she was trying her best to reject her past that she didn't notice that her wolf was drowning because of that," She explained. I raised my head and looked at her with a questioning look.
"She is depressed. She doesn't know it because she is tricking herself into that she is okay," She added, looking at me sadly.
I bite my lip, angry at myself for not even noticing that I let my mate suffer alone. "Don't blame yourself."
"Continue preparing for the coronation and your wedding. She will wake up soon," She said, informing me.
"When?" I asked. I gave her a pleading look to tell me more details. "Why does she need to suffer like this?" I asked the moon goddess. I was whining at her.
"My son, she is my vessel. She would be corrupted, and she doesn't know it."
"Full moon, prepare some altar for her. The moonlight will be her guide for coming back to you," She said and then vanished.
I looked at Vincent and Tia. Who was surprised as I am? I hate myself for not even noticing, for not even being there. I was too focused on my work that I hadn't had the chance to talk to her. I assumed that she was okay when she was not. Liam warned me something was wrong with her wolf, but I kept thinking about my proposal.
I fixed the chair, held Clara's hand again, and rested my head on her hands. "Prepare what needs to be done," I ordered, using my Alpha tone. The two accepted my order and left the room.
"I'm sorry for leaving you alone," I said to Clara, crying my eyes out. After crying for many hours, I stood and went to my office to ensure everything would be perfect once Clara woke up.
~~~~~~~
"Everything is set for tonight. We need to change Clara," Tia said, reporting to me about the preparations.
"Great, I will be at Clara's side. I'll call you if she will be changing," I said.
"Alright," Tia said and left the office. I rechecked everything, ensuring we won't embarrass ourselves in front of the guests at our coronation.
I stood up and went to our room to spend time with Clara. I entered our room and saw her beautiful figure on our bed, sleeping peacefully. I walked until I was beside her, sat down on our bed, and clasped her hand.
"Hello, beautiful," I said. I squeezed her hand and kissed it. I stayed there for hours until it got dark, just staring at her. I was planning things that I would do once she woke up.
I looked at her one last time, kissed her on the forehead, and whispered, "I love you."
"You can call Tia and Lia to change Clara," I mind-linked Vincent.
When I heard some knocking on the door, I stood up and opened it for them. Tia and Lia held things they would put on Clara for our wedding and coronation.
I forced my smile at them and left the room. I trusted them with the task that I gave them. I returned to my office and changed my suit. I went to the place where the event would take place.
Vincent was carrying Clara's bridal style and laid her on the altar. I sat next to her, and we all waited for the moonlight. The moon goddess said that the moonlight would help Clara to come back. We all stood there, waiting for her return.
Clara's POV
The moon goddess showed me my past one more time, but I just smiled at her bitterly. Of course, it will still hurt, but I already accepted what happened this time. My heart was now lighter. I looked at my parents, ensuring I memorized every detail of their faces. I thanked them for protecting me.
The scenery changed, and the mood goddess was now in front of me, smiling at me. I smiled back at her, "I like how you look," She said, happiness evident in her voice.
"Thank you, the moon goddess. For helping me back on track," I said, showing her my genuine feeling.
"Let your emotions out, be happy if you are, cry when you are sad, be angry if you are mad," She said, reminding me of what I've learned here.
"Always talk to me. Let's face our problems together," Angeline said. I gasped and covered my mouth using both of my hands.
"I'm sorry for everything, Angeline, I'm sorry," I said while crying. Begging her for forgiveness that I let her suffer like that.
"It's okay, my dear. I'm back now!" She said. I missed her high-pitched voice. I forgot how she gets excited at little things, and I missed her laugh, which always brightens my day.
There was a light that was shining beside Evangeline. "The full moon has shown itself. Now, go! Go back to your mate," She said, pushing me to the light.
The darkness changed into light, and the next thing I knew, I was lying down, looking at the sky.
I tried looking around and saw Erik sitting beside me, holding my hand near his head. He was praying to me, and I felt sorry for worrying him. I tried squeezing or moving the hand he was holding, and I managed to move one of my fingers. He got surprised and raised his head, looking at me with his surprised look.
He stared at me, and he couldn't believe what he saw. He blinked a few times, checking if what he saw was true. I smiled at him, "Hi," I said in a low voice. My throat felt so dry that my greetings came out as a whisper.
He looked at Vincent, and all of them were shocked. Angela was crying. I could feel in our link that they were relieved and happy. "I'm glad you are fine," Tia said, rushing to my side and hugging me. I tapped her back for her to break the hug. I smiled at her and tried sitting down. Tia supported me until I managed to sit down while facing the guests and pack members.
I glanced at Erik, touched his cheek, and rested my forehead on his. "I'm sorry for worrying you, my life," I said using my sweetest voice. Erik bit his lip, nodded repeatedly, and hugged me tightly.
He broke the hug, kissed my forehead, and stood, facing the werewolves that were currently present. "Sorry for making you wait. I know some of you are wondering what happened. I am here to tell you that my mate just came back, completing the trial our moon goddess has given her," Erik said, explaining everything to them, but he made it seem like the moon goddess gave me a task. He hid the fact that I was on the verge of being corrupted.
I looked at them and flashed them my sweetest smile. They gasped and clapped their hands, feeling proud." We will now begin the wedding," Erik announced.
"Oh, my moon goddess! We are getting married!!! Oh geez, why did I miss the completion of the mating process!" Angeline whined, and I laughed.
Erik carried me bridal style and left the altar. We will be starting the wedding, so we need to go to the altar since Erik will be waiting for me there. He carried me, not letting me walk, but I just let him do as he pleased. I locked my arms around his neck and rested my head on his shoulders.
"I missed you," I whispered to him. He tightens his grip on me and kisses me on my forehead. "I miss you too, so much," He said.
We entered a house near the event's location, and it was Ellie's house, Erik's mother's. It was beautiful, cozy, and warm. Erik sat beside me, and we were both waiting for the signal.
"I was terrified, and I thought I lost you," He confessed, breaking the silence. He looked down at his hands, I bumped my shoulders to his, and he glanced at me.
"I was scared too, but I managed to get back because of everyone and you. You were my strength, and I couldn't leave you. Thinking that you are worrying over me breaks my heart," I said, looking straight into his eyes and showing him my sincerity.
"And you are my life," He said. He grabbed my hands, kissed me, and tugged me closer to him for him to hug me. I hugged him back, and we heard some music playing.
"Let's get married," I said and whispered something to him. It was causing him to blush and feel excited. He wriggled his eyebrows playfully, and I giggled.
The music grew louder. Erik looked at me, brushed his fingers on my hand, and left the house. I peeked in the window and saw him walking straight to the altar, smiling at everyone. He looks awful and must have been waiting for me to wake up without getting some sleep.
I cursed myself at the thought. I shook my head left and right to remove those thoughts. I will be talking to him sincerely, but for now, I'll focus on our wedding and coronation.
Mommy, Daddy, can you see this? I am getting married.
"You look beautiful!" Angeline exclaimed.
"Thank you, Angeline, thank you for being there even if" I couldn't continue what I was about to say when Angeline talked.
"I am you, and you are me. What you were feeling is what I was feeling. We both didn't know that we were drowning. It's no one fault. What important are we came back, that we're okay now, it's important that we are still together" She said? Letting me feel that she is sincere. I smiled thankfully at her.
"Yes, you're right. You are me, and I am you."
Someone knocked on the door, and I saw Vincent and Tia. I opened the door and gave them a questioning look. Vincent shrugged his shoulders, "I won't let you walk to the altar by yourself," he said. He was looking around the house of Ellie.
I laughed at him, and while laughing, I got surprised that he hugged me suddenly. "Don't scare me like that," He said, crying on my shoulder.
"I'm sorry, brother, I'm back now," I said, tapping his back to calm him. Tia came closer, smiling sadly at me, and helped me relax my brother. My brother broke the hug and sniffed.
"We will be walking first and wait for you in the middle, and then we will walk together towards Erik," Tia explained. I nodded and sighed, trying to remove my nervousness.
"Let's go," Vincent said, wiping his snot. I rolled my eyes at him and whispered,
"Sissy" He looked at me angrily, and I laughed, linking my arm to him and Tia. Tia and I giggled at Vincent's reaction and left the house for me to get married.
