As soon as they both started walking on the red carpet, people started admiring them. While some are curious about to know the real origin of Rebecca.

"The woman is so pretty and beautiful!"

Rebecca is completely flushed to hear all this gossip while Edwin feels satisfied to see and hear everyone's reaction and talk.

After crossing the carpet, as they entered the banquet… all people's eyes fell on them. Everyone looked at the young couple with a mixed gaze. Some started gossiping, some walking to their side a few meters away. Some eyes look at them admiringly, some with jealousy.

Rebecca could feel all the different gazes and different expressions all over her but she didn't let herself feel panicked anymore. She needs to be calm and composed. She can't let herself struggle. Julia gave her advice before coming here that the more she looked calm, the more people try to grab the opportunity to pull her legs but if she maintains a powerful aura, this will make them think before taking their steps toward her.

"I need to follow Julia's words, that's it!" She mumbled in her mind while suddenly she remembered Julia.

Her friend still has not arrived which made her a little worried.

She looked back to see if she entered the hotel. But the entrance is full of unknown faces. She turned back and looked at Edwin.

"Mr.Edwin, I couldn't see Julia coming?"

"They will be on the way...don't need to worry!" Edwin calmly explained.

Rebecca lightly nodded.

When they finally entered the center of that hall and stopped. Many people grouped around them.

They all belong to big companies and enterprises. Many of them claimed to be millions of dollars empires.

They all wanted to meet Edwin and wanted to cooperate with his company. But before they could talk about business, they all tried to congratulate him for taking his father's place at such a young age.

Rebecca calmly smiled, as she can't make anyone look ignored. While Edwin shakes hands line by line with everyone. His corner slightly raised with a welcome face to everyone.

Everyone was happy to see Edwin didn't retreat from them or tried to look proud and arrogant. He is a gentleman everyone could see, while the lady with him is also generous. They could feel that. The way Rebecca gently smiled to see every person, is knowledgeable.

"Mr.Edwin, Congratulations on being president! I hope we can have a chance to work with you…" One of the men laughed happily. While shaking hands with Edwin.

Edwin gave a small nod and said, "Yes, of course, Mr.Paul…"

Hearing his response, Mr.Paul nodded happily.

Rebecca silently hears their conversation.

Everyone gets into the conversation when suddenly the mid-age businesswoman looks at Rebecca for long stares before asking Edwin about her.

"Mr.Edwin, who is this young lady? We have never seen this beautiful lady before! And You didn't introduce her to all of us! Is she your girlfriend or fiancee?"

Hearing her words, Edwin looked at Rebecca with corner eyes. While Rebecca felt shaky and her cheeks turned red. She glanced at their interconnected hand for a moment. Before she hoped Edwin could make everything clear for her.

Edwin smiled to see her red complexion, and then glanced at the old lady and others before replying in a calm tone, "Yes, she is my partner for tonight! Miss Rebecca Wilson."

As soon as he said that, everyone's eyes shined.

He didn't rectify them. As for Rebecca, she was completely stunned to hear Edwin's words and stared at him amazed.

"Ohh congratulations… you both are a perfect match!" The lady smiled while everyone nodded in agreement.

"Thank you…"

"Now, we need an excuse…" Edwin told everyone before leaving them there and holding Rebecca's hand and moving to the empty sides.

As soon as they came to an isolated area, she released her hand from his and asked a little angrily, "Mr.Edwin, what was that?"

Edwin looked at her confused.

"What?"

"Why didn't you tell the truth? Why did you lie to them?" She raised the question.

"I didn't lie to them…" He looked at her with a straight gaze. Only made her frown.

"Ohh really? Did you not hear what she asked?" She argued.

"Miss Rebecca, you heard her question. But did you remember my answer?" He suddenly came closer to her. Only stop a few inches far from her face.

Rebecca stepped back and looked at him confused.

"What do you mean?"

"I just told her yes, you are my partner! Didn't you come here as my partner for tonight?" He raised his brows while his lips smirked playfully. Both hands wrapped around his chest while his gaze met her.

Rebecca is taken back to hear his answer. She was speechless. Because Yes, he is telling the truth. He didn't agree with them completely but he didn't rectify them either!

He let them be confused and find the answer on their own.

Her lips pressed tightly thinking how big cunning the man was in front of her. But this is what we call a sharp mind. Her other mind thought.

When she is thinking about all this, Edwin's voice comes, "Miss Rebecca, can we now join the party?"

Rebecca looked at him, only to see him so closer to herself while his hands wrapped around her waist.

She turned stiff in her place before glancing at him back again.

"The partner thing is just for tonight… I hope you will perform well…" Edwin raised a brow while smiling playfully.

Rebecca didn't see him smiling many times in one day. He had already answered her question. So, now she could only nod.

"Yes…" she responded and gazed to another side moving her eyes from him.

Edwin smiled and thought she was cute.
