Chapter 228: Chapter 228

“I am sorry that I could not keep you safe in your own house. You had to endure so many hardships and face them alone, even though I was there. I know it will not be easy for you to trust me now, but can you give your father another chance again?”

“It is my fault that I gave my family a chance to misbehave with you. If I had stopped them many years ago from bullying you, then today you would not have to see this day and honestly, I am very ashamed to be called dad.” Mr Wilson’s tears fell from his eyes which he wiped out and looked at his daughter with a guilty face.

Seeing him crying, her eyes also filled with tears and she said in a low voice, “Father, I have forgotten the old things and I have never even given you blame for that, but it definitely pained me that when you didn’t even think for a moment to separate me from yourself even after you came to know the truth and said that from onwards you and I have no relation. Was it so easy for you to break up with me? I just want to question you about that.”

Hearing her words, he was anxious and immediately tried to explain his side.

“No, my daughter, it was never like this. In fact, in reality, I have never said anything like this. Whatever you heard from the mouth of your stepmother, all those were her false statements. When in the first place, I didn’t even know that they had found you and that Nick had tried to misbehave with you and now he is in prison.”

Rebecca pressed her lips tightly.

“They all hide the truth from me easily because I was not in the city.” He sighed with guilt and helplessness.

She was completely frozen to her spot after hearing all the truth from her father’s side and the next second, her holding tears finally came out with an emotional feeling, “It means Mrs Wilson lied to me from the start. You never hated me, dad. You never say that. I’m dead to you.”

She has finally come to understand that her stepmother truly is trying to trap her as she thought and she almost falls for it and blames her dad.

Mr Wilson stood from his seat and went to her side to crease her head tenderly with emotional eyes, “My poor child, I’m sorry…” His voice stuck, “I’m sorry to be late.”

She looked at her dad’s side and next time hugged him tightly, “Dad!” Her tears fell.

“Oh, my child!” he hugged her gently and kissed her head.

“I’m sorry, dad, for being rude. I fall for their words.”

“It’s alright, my child. I knew that.”

“You know Dad, After I turned homeless, all I think about is you. What they were going to tell you. What would you think about their lies? Will you try to search for me?” Her eyelashes were wet with tears as she shuddered to say all that to her dad.

Feeling her shivering in his arm, he patted her back like he did all her childhood time whenever she cried, “It’s alright dear. Don’t cry.”

“For the story, Yes, they told me, you leave the house on your own after graduation results are out. While your sister adds that you leave the house for some guy. I got all panicked to know that and tried to ask around our area but they did not see you leave. I want to go to the cops but your stepmother stopped me and told you will come back and I fool, agree with her.”

“I never believe in their words that you left home for the guy because the only things that make you leave the house are their harsh behaviour the whole time.”

“Believing that I felt so much guilty. I was all broken and started praying for your safety wherever you are. I didn't dare to search for you because I was ashamed to ask you to come to that house again.

“But I also hope that one day you will be back to your dad and give him one more chance to prove himself.”

Rebecca's eyes looked at her dad's serious and guilty facial expression which looks so intense.

“However, the way time passed and you did not show up, my anxiety got high and I have all drawn myself into work to distract myself to lessen the pain.”

Rebecca silently heard all that as her eyes turned red to feel his words' meaning.

“So, when I finally got your whereabouts and what happened to you all this past month, I could not help but feel blameable…I… “ He flinched.

“I feel so ashamed as your dad who could not protect her daughter well and let her suffer even knowing how you were treated unequally in our house.” His chest tightened.

“I’m sorry, daughter. It’s all for my poor capability that you need to go through this hell even when you got me on your back. I’m so sorry.” He broke into tears, hid his face between his palms and mumbled all these words while sniffing.

“Dad…” She held her dad’s hands to uncover his face which looked all devastated at this moment.

“You always cared for me. Please don’t blame yourself. We both actually thought in the past that one day they will accept me. But some people are made of disgusted hearts no matter how much gentleness you show. It will not change their rude behaviour.”

Mr Wilson wiped his tears and agreed with her words.

“You are right, my child. They have so small hearts but now don’t worry. I’m with you and for them, I’ll talk to them myself.” Mr Wilson's eyes filled with anger.

“Dad, forget about them for now. I’m just happy that all misunderstanding is clear between us and we are here together like the old days.” She wiped her tears and looked at her dad with happiness.

“That’s right, honey.” He smiles tiny.
