Chapter 217: Chapter 217

HOSPITAL

“Sam!” Julia walked to the corridor where Edwin and Sam were already standing outside Rebecca's ward and waiting for the doctor to come out after her checkup.

“Julia…” Sam looked at her while she stopped just in front of him, “Sam, Where is Rebecca? How are she and the baby?” Her expression was filled with concern.

“Julia, the doctor is checking on her right now. I can not say anything further.” Sam asserted with a lower tone.

She nods lightly and takes a seat on the bench attached to the wall.

A few minutes later the door finally opened and the doctor showed up while the nurse followed him and came outside.

Edwin, who didn’t move from his spot until now, finally moved to see a doctor.

Julia stood back from her seat and went to the doctor with Sam.

“Doctor, how is she?”

“Is everything alright?” His eyes searched for his answer through a doctor's expression. While Julia and Sam wanted to know the same, waiting patiently to get a report from the doctor.

The doctor glanced at Edwin, Sam, and Julia before asking, “Sir, may I know first, what is your relationship with the patient.”

Edwin calmly looked at the ward door and then at the doctor, “She is my love and the mother of my unborn baby.”

The doctor nodded in understanding, “I see.”

“Doctor, I’m her close friend,” Julia introduced herself, “And he is her colleague,” She also introduced Sam to the doctor.

After knowing all of them, Doctor finally reported them to Rebecca, “Her injury is not deep but still, it will take some time to fully recover. For her pregnancy, we have already done some tests. The report will come within 24 hours. Until then, we can not surely say something but we don’t find anything wrong with her body while examining it. So, there is an 80% chance for the report to come normal but still, there is a 20% chance that the baby is not well,”

Edwin’s face looks calm throughout the whole report but inside his chest, a full storm is going on.

He didn’t ask a further question and all he requested was to meet her which the doctor first denied and informed no one can meet her until 24 hours as she was in an observation period.

“Doctor, but why that? Isn't she okay?” Julia was worried and questioned first.

To which, the doctor nodded and replied, “Yes, she is but it’s not only about her situation but the baby also. Until we got her report and passed it fine. I can not approve of anyone meeting her. However, you all can see her from outside.”

“And how’s that?” Edwin is filled with hope to realize there is still a way to check on her.

The doctor looked at him and responded, “We had a glass wall room from where you can watch the patient without any body contact. We will send Ms. Wilson for the first 24 hours there, so you all can see her without any cause.”

Edwin breathed in relief and thanked the doctor.

“Okay, it’s now time to check on another patient. You can all go home as she is not in danger or just wait one more hour and you can watch her line by line.”

‘Thank you, Doctor,” This time Julia thanked him.

The doctor nodded and walked with the nurse. While all of them sat on the bench and waited to see her.

After Rebecca was moved to a new ward, a nurse came to Edwin and informed him, they could now see her one by one for 5 minutes.

Edwin followed the nurse to walk inside and when they came to face the glass wall, the nurse left him alone.

His hand slowly moved to press on the wall glass and looked at Rebecca’s fragile sleeping appearance where her injuries were now covered with bandages. But still, it made him feel hurt deep inside his chest to see her like this in pain and suffering.

He still remembered her terrified expression when she stopped his arm to hit Nick. Her tears and injured face broke his heart at that moment.

He could not guess how much she suffered there alone with her stepbrother.

This realization burned him, with deep guilt inside his chest. Why did he not pick up the call at the right time?

Why did he not check on her last time before going out to the airport and just walking back to his room?

If he chooses to check on her, or, even call her. Things would be changed now.

If he had picked it up her call as soon as it rang. She will not be here.

The situation was never going to get worse. He got the chance to turn the whole page but now all he can feel is guilt throughout his heart.

His hand turned into a fist. When the Nurse came and informed him that his time over to watch her.

He didn’t argue to stay longer and nodded silently after glancing at her and her belly last time before leaving the room with the nurse.

After he came out Julia went inside and sobbed to watch Rebecca's injuries but she thanked god also for protecting her friend and her baby. Now all she prayed was that her report come positive without any bad news.

Sam goes in last and prays for her baby's safety.
