Chapter 174: Chapter 174
Next Morning
Rebecca opened her eyes and felt stunned to find herself on the hospital bed.
She looked around only to glance at Julia who was sleeping on the couch.
"Julia…" She called her name.
Hearing Rebecca's voice she soon awakened from her sleep and looked towards the bed.
"Rebecca!" Julia immediately gets up to watch her wake up.
She went to the chair beside the bed and smiled warmly to see her friend finally open her eyes. The next moment she just wrapped her arms around her to hug her with sister love.
Last night was so heavy on her.
"Thank God! Finally, you opened your eyes. I was too scared when I saw you in the hospital."
She broke the hug and looked at her with a minor smile to continue, "So, how are you feeling right now? Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?"
Julia stared at her with a concerned gaze. As she thought Rebecca should be traumatized by last night's incident.
"There is a little headache but what am I doing here? How did I get hospitalized?" Rebecca's expression turned serious as she tried to remember what happened to her. But not thinking about the library, her mind filled with baby safety.
And before Julia could recite, she added by herself, "Julia, is my baby alright? I hope the baby is fine." Her voice almost shattered when she asked that question as she was scared to hear something bad.
However, Julia immediately makes her calm down by giving a response, "Babe, please don't panic, baby is absolutely fine."
Rebecca breathed in relief to hear that. As she touched her belly by closing her eyes.
Julia also felt relieved to see her. However, soon she inquired, "Rebecca, don't you remember what happened to you in the library last night?"
Hearing library words, Rebecca paused for a second and tried to remember, "Last night?"
She pressurized her mind and soon she remembered about two guys who assaulted her last night in the library but because of stress, and worried about her baby's safety, she fainted out there at last. After that, she doesn't remember anything.
"Y…Yes, I remembered." She shrugs.
"The two guys entered the library and tried to r…rape me." Her voice choked and tears slipped out from her eyes.
Julia also got into tears feeling her pain and again took her in hugs.
"Rebecca, don't cry! They did not succeed to do that. Edwin saved you last night and sent you to the hospital. You just faint and they didn't touch you."
Rebecca released herself from the hug and looked at her startled, "Edwin?"
"Yes." Julia nodded to confirm.
Rebecca clenched her hands on the bed sheet, "Is he got any injury to save me? What about those guys?" While questioning all this she remembered the old man and asked soon, "And what about uncle, is he alright?"
Julia could sense she started to get stressed again. So, she touched her hand and gave her a squeeze in assurance.
"I'll answer everything but first try to be calm. Everything is good out there. So, don't stress yourself out."
Her words somehow made her believe Edwin and Uncle both were fine.
"Then tell me what happened after I fainted…"
She waited to hear everything from Julia's mouth.
"Last evening, after you fainted, Edwin got there with the help of the owner's wife. He rescued you and your uncle from there and called Sam to get an ambulance there."
"What about those guys?" She asked.
"They were sent to prison. While Sam informed me how Edwin beat both guys until they were covered in their own blood…" Rebecca's eyes widened.
"If Sam didn't reach on the right time and stopped him from the fight. He will almost kill those bastards and be a murderer right now." She was almost shaken to hear Julia's words and already imagined Edwin's murderous aura at that moment.
She clenched her hand and let her nail almost dig her palm.
She felt stung to hear how he fought for her when she almost ran from him all the time and even declined to accept his existence in her life and her child's life.
She doesn't know how to feel about him anymore. He is the person who hurt her more than anyone but he is the same person who always rescued her whenever she got into trouble. Not only last night but the first day from now, he was always there to rescue her.
"Rebecca, are you alright?" Julia touched her shoulder and asked with a concerned tone.
Rebecca just nodded as her lips tightly pressed together to not react anyway. And the next moment, she changed the topic from Edwin to Uncle.
"What about uncle? Is he fine?" She paused for a minute between her words.
Julia knew she tried to change the topic. But she still answers her, "Yes, he is fine. They didn't hurt him but just smelled some kind of chemical to make him unconscious for a few hours. He is just next door to you and almost prepared to get discharged after signing the discharge papers.
Rebecca sighed in relief to hear that, " That's good. He is fine."
Julia nodded and added, "Thank God, you are also a safe babe. You don't know how scared I was when I got the news about being in the hospital. I almost imagined something bad happened to you at that time."
Rebecca's eyes moisture out and she sniffs.
While Julia continued with her words, "You don't know, but last night was so much heavy for me. I was almost numb to watch you here on the bed without any sense."
Rebecca let her tears fall as Julia already got in tears to speak those words.
She hugged her friend and started to apologize, "I'm sorry, Julia…"
"I'm sorry to make you so worried like this again. But I never thought those two guys could be this dangerous. I should have listened to you and just gotten back home. So, this does not happen. Uncle doesn't get hurt, you don't get stressed, I'm not in the hospital, Edwin doesn't beat anyone to be called a murderer. It's just Sam coming on at the right moment but can imagine how my one action could affect many lives with me."
