Chapter 167: Chapter 167

Rebecca started to feel a little worried to see that even after a long time passed the old man didn't come back or she heard his voice coming around.

``Where has he gone?" She mumbled to herself as she felt uncomfortable standing there in the darkness alone.

Somehow this environment gives her uneasy feelings.

She thought to call uncle.

"Uncle, did you get the candle?" She talks in a louder voice to hear some response from wherever he is.

But to her surprise, the same silent maintenance is still out there.

"Uncle, can you listen to me!" She tried again but still had the same silence.

Getting no response from him made her feel worried this time. She can sense something was wrong…

At last, she made up her mind to go and check herself for him.

She looked around but it was too dark to even get clues about where she needed to walk. She's scared of being hit by something while walking in darkness.

So, first, before she moves, she unzips her purse which she's tucked to her shoulder, and takes out her phone from it to finally turn on the touch.

After finally getting bright, she breathed out in big relief, or else her hand almost trembled with worry.

Somehow, darkness gives her a chilling feeling but she was trying herself not to be scared about it and starts walking toward the long corridor. She just hopes to hear from him soon or find him as soon as possible because the unbreakable silence gives her a terrifying feeling.

This darkness makes her remember her stepbrother and those evil nights which give her nightmares all the time when she lives in her so-called home with her stepfamily. But when she left, she never had those nightmares but today watching this darkness somehow gave her that night's vision and made her body get stressed.

She walked halfway when she heard some kinds of noises around her and stopped immediately and her torch moved in the noise direction.

"Uncle?" She thought the noise came from him but when the light showed there was no one. She felt out because at this moment her beat raced a little violently.

"What should we do with this old bug?" A guy whispered slowly to another guy.

"Let's just drop him in the corner there!" He pointed toward a small counter's corner with his small light which he carried with him.

"Alright, then let's move fast!" The first guy announced and both of them soon slid the old man with arms to get him there.

Rebecca already crossed the corridor and now just stood in front of the cabin. She glanced at the door which was not locked.

She pushed the door lightly as her phone light moved inside.

"Uncle, are you here?" She called out as she stepped inside but when she looked around with the light, there was no one. It's empty.

She bit her lower lips feeling something is too off. She needs to walk out of the library and inform the coffee shop lady about the old man. That she can't find him…

"I need to leave!" She mumbled to herself and turned around to left the cabin hurriedly.

Somehow she's feeling there is something wrong. But because of the darkness and now not getting to find the old man, she's getting anxious.

She's feeling somehow it's not good for her to stay here alone and she needs to be sure Uncle is fine. What if he went outside to get the candle because he didn't find it here?

Suddenly, this thought get her some relief but it didn't change her mind to get out of there first to know clearly if her thoughts were right or not.

With all these thoughts she almost reached the main door and she breathed out in relief.

These few last minutes almost made her feel like she was going to suffocate.

However, when she started closing the distance between the door and her. She heard footsteps coming behind her. The heavy one.

She paused with shock as it was such a slow gesture like there was someone around her and watching her. But she didn't find the guts to turn around for a second but soon she let herself turn and let the phone follow the direction behind her but there was no one.

She felt her heartbeat cross miles in this just one turn.

She felt a big solace and thought her mind was just playing with her because staying in the dark and not finding Uncle stressed her.

"Get hold of yourself, Rebecca!" She mumbled to herself and turned back again to approach the door.

However, this time not only footsteps but she heard someone's chuckling sound…and this caught her shock and shuddered for a long minute.

She almost stood as if she paused but her body was trying to give her a signal to run because she was not alone. The chuckling sound gives her that information.

She tried to peek around slightly without moving her head while she finally glanced at the door and without thinking any single second ran towards it to go out.

She almost succeeded to touch the doorknob when someone's hand approached her from beside and held her wrist to let go of the doorknob.

At this moment, the sweat beads fell from her forehead. Her heart beat faster than a train as she felt she was in danger. The phone fell from her hand also and now all she gets is darkness around her which is enough to make her feel scared about her situation.

"W-Who?"

"Who are you?" She tried to push the hand with her free hand. As she shouted with nervousness and anger at the same time.

However, the guy didn't respond. All he did was laugh and this time she could hear it was not one but two different people laughing.

This realization gets her scared. Not because she's alone but because she had a baby with her and this made her also realize that suddenly missing the uncle could be related to these creepy laughing people.

"Release me, you bastard!" She yelled as she tried to bite his hand.

"Ahh!" The person let go of her hand with the pain while Rebecca took this opportunity to run again towards the door but when she tried to open it.

It was locked…
