Chapter 146: Chapter 146
In The Evening
"Dear, you can go home as no customers are coming anymore." The owner glanced at the empty library for a second and then moved his gaze back to Rebecca who had already finished her work and was just arranging books back in the cupboard line accordingly.
Listening to the old man's words, Rebecca turned to look at him with little pause.
"But…Sir, that is still early. What if someone comes?" Rebecca raised a question.
However, the old man shook his head in denial.
"No, there will be no more customers. And if there are any customers, I can manage. You should go now. And anyway you come early today. so, there are no issues to send you back early. In your condition, you need to take a good rest after a long day's work."
Rebecca agreed to his phrase and thanked him at last, "Thank you, Sir. You take care of yourself."
The old man flashed a small warm smile at her and nodded in the slowest.
Rebecca got back to take her purse and phone as she arranged the documents back to the cupboard before finally leaving.
"Good night, Sir." She bid her bye with a small smile.
To which the old man nodded and greeted her back, "Good night, Dear. Have a safe trip back home."
After Rebecca left, the old man went to his cabin and started reading one of his favorite author's books.
.
.
"Sam, are you sure this is the right route?" Edwin looked at the surroundings through his car window. As it's out from the main rich town. Where the middle and lower groups of people lived.
"Yes, Sir. The route is correct. The library is not far from here. I came here in the afternoon by myself." Sam's confirmation made Edwin glance outside the area more carefully. As his face doesn't look happy to hear his confirmation.
While Sam felt similarly hesitant to speak the details as he knew his boss never liked this type of place in one sight. And now Ms. working here. This news was enough to get his boss furious.
Yes, his boss didn't go back to Rebecca for forgiveness or tried to make her feel that he is truly accepting his sin. But it doesn't mean his boss stopped caring about Rebecca and his child. This thing Sam always knew. And that's why he respects Edwin. That man never leaves his love or family for anyone and tries to protect them with all his strength.
Sam soon stopped the car on one side of the road. As there are two ways to go further but both ways are narrow and the car can't fit there to drive.
However, Edwin who was sitting behind didn't say that and asked the next moment with a deep look, "Why did you stop the car here?" There is a rush in his voice.
Sam turned and looked at Edwin to respond, "Boss, the car can't go further as the route is narrow there and the car can be stuck."
"What?" Edwin blankly looked back at him.
"Yes, Boss." Sam didn't know what to speak more so, he simply responded.
But Edwin's question didn't stop here as he threw another question at him, "Then how will we go to the library?" His brows turned serious as he looked impatient.
"We need to go there by walk, Boss. The library is just a few minutes away from here." Sam's response created a deep line on Edwin's forehead as he gazed at the path finally with a deep frown the next moment.
He thought about Rebecca walking every day to go there. And soon felt little anger on her. Even though she doesn't want to work with him. Why can't she find a good job with her brilliant degree?
And soon mumbled out with an angry tone.
"Does she truly need to work in this type of place? Can't she find better?"
Without caring that his voice was audible to Sam who after listening to his boss's statement on Rebecca, soon replied with thoughtful words.
"Boss." He captured Edwin's attention.
"Ms.Rebecca is pregnant. No company is going to accept a new employee with a pregnancy. Isn't that why she hides her pregnancy fact all the time?"
Sam's every word made Edwin soon realize his mistakes and he fell silent only to remember that he joined his dad's company only to protect her and her secret.
He even changed the rules of his company for her. But in the end, it didn't work for her. The main person. As she never agrees to come back.
When he is between his deep thoughts related to her.
Sam's voice fell on his ears again and this time he is standing outside the car to open the door for him.
"Boss, Please." He politely stood behind the car door.
While Edwin finally lets go of his last thoughts and gets off the car in one go. As his eyes looked around without expression.
It's not a crowded place but still, he doesn't like the area at all. If it's not for Rebecca and his child. He never thought to walk from here. As he was never born to move on this side.
"Boss, this way." Sam directed Edwin while he fixed his suit's buttons and started following him.
When he comes to the front of the narrow street. He glanced at Sam to speak up.
Sam knows what he wants to ask. So, he soon replied by himself without even, asking.
"Boss, this is the only way to go to the Library. As other ways are more narrow than this and long, so it will take more time too."
Hearing him, Edwin nodded and didn't ask more.
Both men step together to walk and cross the narrow path. When the alcohol smell and laughing voices stopped both men.
Edwin looked at the bunch of people drinking and laughing on the further way. They are sitting in the corner. While half of them were already drunk.
Seeing this sight, his gazes turned colder, and his facial expression turned madder. His forehead creases lines turned deeper.
He started to feel pressure inside his stomach to show his anger.
But at last, he just pinched the bridge of his nose for a moment while closing his eyes and taking a deep long breath.
Like he was trying to control his acuity.
After a few seconds of staying like that, he finally open his eyes to be firm again and then glanced at alcoholic people with thick aspects.
"She can't work here. I'll not allow that." His announced heard by Sam.
Sam silently watches his boss's all reaction and felt this time there going to be a great argument between his boss and Rebecca.
He sighed deeply deep inside his heart. As he felt both parties are right in their places.
Working in this environment is not safe for Ms. Rebecca. While on the other side, she got no choice except this. As finding a job is not an easy task. As the pregnant woman got no many choices to do work without a heavy task.
