Guests started filling in, and the atmosphere started being livid. Around 6 in the evening, a total of five cars strolled inside the compound. From the first one, an old-aged man alighted. Though he looked old, there was a sharp glint in his eyes which made him look a bit scary. He was surrounded by bodyguards. After he got off the car, the rest of the car doors also opened, and the people inside the car stepped down from it. Each of them was accompanied by at least one bodyguard.

All of them came to stand beside the old man. One of the middle-aged men from the group stepped forward and asked, "Father, it's just a welcoming party for a girl. Did all of us have to come?" A tinge of displeasure and disgust could be felt in his words. From his words alone, one could guess that he is a misogynistic person. [Misogynist: A person who dislikes, looks down upon, and has a prejudice against women.]

The old man sighed at his elder son Mo Jinlan's words. His eldest son was full of himself and could not read others' intentions properly. It was obvious that since Old Master Mo organized the party for his great-granddaughter, she clearly held an important position in his (Old Master Mo's) heart.

Just as the old man was about to reprimand his eldest son, his younger son Mo Jing spoke, "Eldest brother, look at your surrounding before speaking. What if someone heard you? And Uncle Mo would not have organized such a lavish party if he didn't like the girl child. Use some sense, brother."

The old man nodded in approval at his younger son. He always approved of his younger son as he was smarter than his elder son and other family members.

Mo Jinlan's face turned black when he heard his younger brother's words. He knew that his brother was intentionally looking down on him. "Hmph, so what? A girl is still a girl," he countered back. He hated losing against his younger brother. His father has looked down on him since his childhood, and now he wanted to prove to his father that he was superior to his younger brother.

Because of the competition between two brothers, their wives and their children also had competition among themselves. "And is this how you talk to your elder brother?" Mo Jinlan's wife Ou Mi chided Mo Jing.

"What do you mean, sister-in-law? You should think of your husband's mistake before chiding my husband," Mo Jing's wife Mi Young also replied back in a shrill voice.

While two women were fighting, their respective sons were also glaring at each other.

"Enough. Is it time to fight amongst yourselves? If you continue to be like this, then you can forget of even sitting on the head position of Mo Family." The old man walked in, leaving his harsh words behind.

Other family members grudgingly followed him behind before anyone sees them fighting like that.

The old man walked straight to Old Master Mo who was currently sitting in the head position in the hall. "Cousin, sorry for arriving a bit late. You know how much girls spend on dressing up," he initiated the conversation with Old Master Mo.

"Oh, Mo Zian, you are here. It's okay, enjoy the party." Old Master kept the conversation short. He knew how greedy Mo Zian was, and how he was eyeing for his position. If only he had evidence against him, he would have ousted him from the clan. But unfortunately, the cousin of his was very clever.

Mo Zian's smile froze for a second when he saw how Old Master Mo was unaffected y his presence. It was as if he was someone unimportant. "Hmph, let's see your attitude when I sit at that position," he thought in his head but didn't dare to voice it out.

"By the way, where is the little girl for whom this party was organized?" He said, trying to flatter Old Master Mo.

But Old Master Mo straightforwardly replied, "It's her napping time, so she is with Mo Shan. Let's not disturb her sleep."

Mo Zian's expression turned even worse at that. "Yes, yes, infants should get as much sleep as possible. Then I will go meet other family members." With that, he left.

Elder Ji, who was sitting next to Old Master Mo, leaned towards him and said, "It seems like your cousin has become greedier. Look at the family of his two sons. It looks that they have separate competition among themselves. It seems like his own sons will bring calamity to his life." What he said was correct in the sense that the families will internal conflict will never rise.

Old Master Mo sighed at his words. "That is the punishment from his own deeds."

A few meters away from them, Mother Mo and Yun Xi were interacting with some ladies when Mo Zian's eldest daughter-in-law walked to them. Mother Mo's face clearly turned grim but still introduced her to Yun Xi, "Xiao Xi, this is Mo Jinlan's wife Ou Mi. You should call her aunt."

"Aunt," Yun Xi called her with a smile. Yun Xi felt that something was amiss by the way Mother Mo's tone changed when she introduced Ou Mi. Nonetheless, she greeted Ou Mi warmly.

"Oh, so you are Mo Shan's wife. Sorry, I couldn't come during Xiao Hui's birthday, so I reckon there is our first time meeting each other?" Ou Mi spoke haughtily.

Though she was sounding weird, Yun Xi maintained a smile on her face and replied, "Yes."

"By the way, which family were you from again?" Ou Mi asked with a disgusting smile on her face. She obviously knew that Yun Xi didn't have a specific background, but she was still asking the question in front of everyone just to lower her down.

Both Mother Mo and Yun Xi's expressions changed at her words. Yun Xi finally knew why her mother-in-law acted like that earlier. It was because the woman in front of them was simply spiteful. Yun Xi did not have any problem sharing her background because she was actually proud of it. "Well, I was an orphan before, Aunt. But now I belong to Mo Family. And I now have a family after marrying here."

Mother Mo nodded in approval of Yun Xi's words. She also spoke up, "Xiao Xi is correct. She now has me as her mom and the whole Mo family as her own."

Ou Mi's smile froze on her face at their reply. Her eyes sharpened, realizing that Yun Xi wasn't a simple, weak girl who would just stay silent and suffer. She was angered even more by Mother Mo's words. From the moment she marries into Mo Family, she was jealous of Mother Mo for being able to marry into the main family and even become the daughter-in-law of the head. She has tried many times to make Mother Mo look bad in front of others but was unsuccessful every single time. She was envious that Mother Mo got a loving husband and supportive in-laws, while in her case, she got greedy in-laws and husband.

When she got the news of Yun Xi, a poor girl, marrying Mo Shan, she was very delightful. She thought that she could finally insult Mother Mo now, but she failed again. She was literally fuming right now but still had to maintain a fake polite smile on her face. When she could not bring herself to smile anymore, she hastily excused herself and walked away.
