Chapter 72: Chapter 72
“After your shifts, gather in this kitchen hall. We will be having a meeting later. Now, go back to work and bestow a good service on the customers!”
“Yes, sir!” we, the workers, said in unison after sir Gab left the kitchen.
“What will Sir Gab talk about in the meeting later?” asked Ella to Fayn; they are my co-workers inside this luxurious Bar.
“I’ve heard about something that the boss will hold a party inside this Bar after three days. It’s a welcome party for his brother from Russia.”
Russia? My heart suddenly beat fast.
“It’s really true that our boss really has a brother.”
“Yes, and base on what I know, this Bar was named form their capital letters. G for sir Gab and R for his older brother.”
“That’s cool! Naming a business line to the name of the owner will really be a success. Sir Gab’s brother is still a mystery for this Bar. I also heard that he visits often.”
I stopped listening to the constant chatter of my other colleagues and immediately left the kitchen hall. I also heard rumors that Sir Gab had a brother, but I ignored it because it was just one of those rumors.
Whatever the meeting, it will be done later. We will know about its purpose after the shift of all the workers in this Bar.
Suddenly, my heartbeat increased. Russia? Name that starts with the letter R? Older brother? Everything of those information fits Reign. I gently shook my head. What am I thinking? Maybe this is just about me missing him.
I once again composed myself and walk out to serve the customers, “Ramos! Can you serve this to table number seven? Thank you!” Layla, one of the staff at the counter.
“Let me have it,” Layla then pass the tray with a bottle of reposado tequila and a drinking glass.
“Thank you!” I just nodded while taking the tray and started walking on the table with a nameplate of the number seven. As usual, this place was full of rich people coming from Drein City.
What more could I expect? This Bar was luxuriously designed for people with an unlimited penny on their hands. From the very beginning, I was too careful of my work. Afraid to make unnecessary things and mistakes. If that happens, I can’t afford to compensate the customers and the Bar itself.
“Here’s your reposado tequila, sir. Thank you so much for choosing G and R Bar. I hope that your stay here will satisfy you,” I said when I reached the respective table who owns the order on my hands.
The man on table number seven suddenly turned his eyes on me. He was busy talking with someone on the phone earlier. A surprise on his face can be seen while his lips were parted.
“T-Thank you.”
I just smiled. I don’t know what this man’s problem is or is not feeling well enough for him to stutter. I just bowed my head, “If you may excuse me, sir.”
The man unknowingly nodded. It didn’t take me long to walk back to the counter. I sat down to see that there were no new orders piled on the counter and let out a deep sigh.
“Seems table number seven was startled by a beauty serving him,” my gaze turned into Layla that was inside the counter, making arrangements.
“What do you mean?”
“Woah. What happened to the alienated worker of this Bar? Is this you, Ramos? For real?!” Layla softly hissed. I just stared at her, “Just kidding. I mean, I watched you take that order, and number seven was left in awe just by seeing you serve him.”
“What does it supposed to mean?” I asked why Layla’s shoulders dropped as she heard my remarks.
“Never mind!” she said and immediately turned away from me, then walked to the end of the counter. I put my hands on the counter, and my mind suddenly flashed the night with Reign.
My body heated up, and my heart was rushing like having a marathon. I gently place my hands on my chest to calm myself. A second after, my heart is already beating normally.
“Do you want some?” I looked at the source of the voice. My eyes were startled when I saw the man on table number seven offering me tequila inside the glass he was holding.
“Thank you for the invitation, sir, but we are restricted to drink with our customers. Besides, I don’t drink.”
“Oh, okay. My apologies,” the man said, then withdraw his hands that were offering me a drink. I did not answer and just give him a stingy smile, “What’s your name?” I don’t know what the person next to me is thinking right now.
“Ruchee.”
I said. I don’t want to talk with a stranger, but I’m at work, and I have to entertain any customer with or without connection to the workplace.
“That’s a beautiful name for a gorgeous lady,” I heard him clear his throat as he introduced himself, “My name is Tristan.”
I was stunned at the man’s words and did not answer. I don’t know what to do. He was the second man to say such words to me. Hopefully, someone will help me out with this position.
“Table number four.”
Layla suddenly placed a tray with a bottle of vodka. My eyes were startled looking at her, and she suddenly winks at me; it was like saying that I should be thankful for what she did, lifting me out of this uncomfortable feeling.
“Okay,” I turned my gaze at Tristan, the man who was standing beside me. He was staring at me, but I ignored his eyes, “I will excuse myself, sir.”
“Sure.”
After receiving his answer, I reached for the tray and immediately walked to serve table number four. When I got away, I let out a deep sigh. Thank you so much for this help, Layla.
Maybe, Layla knew that I was in a precarious situation. Fortunately, she thought of interrupting my conversation with Tristan. I don’t know how to initiate a dialogue between men. I also can’t leave him. It’s a rude decision.
“Here’s your vodka s--” I suddenly backed away as I received a slap from the customer, making me let go of the tray causing the bottle of vodka to break into pieces.
“Why does it took a while to serve my order? I’ve been waiting for ten minutes!” I stared at the fat man who was exploding in anger, “What are you staring at!” I closed my eyes when he lifts his hands again in cue on slapping my face.
“How dare you to hit a girl, fatty-ass.”
I opened my eyes because of the familiar voice and the hands that gently held my shoulder. It was Tristan. He was holding that customer’s hands that were lifted to slap me again.
“And who are you?” said the customer and withdraw his hands from Tristan.
“This gorgeous lady’s knight in shining armor,” Tristan said, and I was startled about what he did next. He clenched his fist and suddenly punched the fat man in front of us.
I looked around. The people inside the Bar did nothing but look and immediately go back to what they were doing as if nothing was happening on our current stand. This working place of mine was indeed a luxurious bar designed for wealthy people who don’t care about these things.
“Are you okay?” Tristan asked worriedly. I take my eyes on the fat man, and now, he’s already knocked out. I nodded.
“Thank you,” I said and give him a stingy smile. I was startled when Tristan brought his hands and cupped my cheeks, making me stunned on my own feet.
“How dare that fat man scratch your gorgeous face.”
Without any hesitations, I withdraw myself from him. Taking a step backward and distancing myself for protection.
“I was thankful for your help, Mister Tristan, but please, don’t touch me casually. You are my customer, and I’m a waitress. This is a bar, and happenings like this were normal for me.”
I said, making Tristan stunned on his feet. This is not the first time I encountered customers like this. But I don’t care. As long as I get my money for my hard work, there’s nothing I can complain about.
Sometimes, this is how my life works inside G and R Bar.
