Chapter 69: Chapter 69
“What’s the status?” Reign asked as he prepared and adjusted the gun he was holding. We were in the room where he held Shino captive. Reign’s men were is and restless, coming and going as I saw them on the glass wall.
Russiana was still hugging me, and I know that she was afraid. I sat enough to match her height and gently holds her cheeks, “How’s your heart?”
“It’s fine, Ruru. I was just scared of the sudden explosion.”
“Don’t worry. Ruru won’t let anything happen to you,” I said and give her a smile for assurance. Russiana hugged me tight; I can feel her heart beating furiously. One of the doctors’ words that examined my sister’s condition suddenly popped inside my head as I heard her heartbeat.
The doctor has said that someone with Russiana’s disease only has thirty percent to live in this world, and sometimes, they won’t or last for ten years. She’s already eight this year, and if what the doctor said is accurate, she only has two years to live or less.
“One of our men scouted the shore, and the explosion came from the ocean. There are three OTO Melara 7’s parked at the port, and they are owned by the Gau Clan based on the painting of a flag bannered above their battleship,” Elliott stole my attention. He was facing Reign, who was preparing his gun into use.
When I stared at their face, they were intense, and I can’t sense the weird Elliot that I’ve known from the beginning. I don’t know what’s going on. I wanted to ask, but Reign told me that he didn’t want me to get involved in the chaos he had in his life.
Despite him being one of the underworld’s extraordinary mafia, I love him. If this is what he wants and will make him feel better, I will do it. Even in this simple thing, I can repay all the good stuff Reign did for me.
“Our men?” Reign asked and stationed his gun on his back.
“They are already preparing for this battle, Reign.”
“The twins? Are they done about what I asked them to do? Is the speedboat ready?”
“Yes, Reign. Everything is settled.”
“Good. Go outside and inform the men to scout and clear the backside of the island.”
“Copy,” Elliott immediately left, and only the three of us remained inside this glass wall. The deafening silence was bestowed upon us, but Reign broke it.
“Ruchee.”
I looked at him. His face was still intense, but he softened and immediately approached me when our eyes met, giving me a tight embrace. I could feel Reign’s heavy breaths as he was trapping me in his arms.
“I’m sorry,” he mumbled between his breathe. I felt Reign’s hands caressing my hair.
“For what? Why are you sorry?” I asked because it was unclear to me about the reason for Reign’s sudden apology.
He did not answer; instead, Reign pulled away from his hug from me and immediately claimed my lips in front of my little sister. I could not react because of his sudden action. Until he parted his lips from mine, I was left stunned on my feet.
He kissed me in front of my sister!
“I’m sorry because we were in the middle of being lovers; this mess came up.”
“I want to ask about what was happening, but I know that you’ll disagree about it. Don’t worry about us being lovers. We can do it once everything on your side is settled,” I don’t know what I’m doing. I hold Reign’s cheeks and gently caressed them, “For now, do what you need to do first. We can talk about everything after this mess that was happening was put to rest.”
“Thank you,” Reign reached for my hands and kiss their backside, making me flustered. We are doing this thing in front of my little sister.
“We will wait here until everything is fine and it’s safe outside.”
“No.”
“No?” I confusedly asked Reign. He then intertwined our fingers, sticking our palms together.
“You will leave this island tonight.”
I stared into Reign’s face and looked for the hole to see if he was joking, but his decision was far-reaching from breaking it. He’s already decided for me to abandoned Goriy. This time, it was his own will and not mine.
I want to complain and be stubborn to pursue staying here with him until the dispute will be rested into peace, but I remembered what I said a week ago. Instead of contradicting Reign, I plastered a sweet smile on my face.
“Okay. I will do so.”
“You will leave with Thraia.”
“How about the other maids inside this house? The Islanders?” Reign reached for my cheeks again and smiled at me. He looks punky and gorgeous. More on a well-proportioned hunk.
“Don’t worry about them. The Islanders and maids are safe. Let’s go. Thraia is waiting for you in the port,” I nodded. Reign kissed me on the forehead; he then turned his gaze to the girl who’s still hugging me, “Hey, little Rus. You are brave, right?” he asked while a smile was plastered on his face.
“Yes. I was a brave girl. Ruru said that many times to me.”
“Then you should be brave and stay with your sister, okay? You should fight and stay with her for the rest of your life.”
I don’t know how Reign knows about my sister’s condition. Even without certainty, I knew what he was referring to. Reign brought his face closer to Russiana and planted a gentle kiss on her forehead.
“Let’s go,” he said and then stand; he reached his hands in front of me. On our first encounter, I even remember I was hesitating if I should accept his offer or not, but right now, I don’t need to decide because everything is already sure between us.
We walked out of the glass wall, locked with each other’s hands. We made our way to the place the day our first date happened. When we reached the shore, I saw Elliot and Thraia; they were hugging each other.
I just smiled because I was right in my suspicion that someone was mediating between the two of them. Just the way Elliott looked at Thraia, I already knew how he felt. I had seen it with Reign before, but I ignored it.
“Are you done biding your farewell, Elliott?” Reign said, interrupting their moments. I don’t know what came inside my mind when I gently pinched Reign on his side.
“Let them. You said that Thraia will come with me, right? It’s normal for them to be like this,” I said in a low voice when Reign gives me a look asking why I did that to him.
Elliott and Thraia suddenly turned their gazes away. They were embarrassed, how cute! We did not waste any time and walk towards the speedboat rested on the port.
“Who will take control of this?” I asked when Reign was carrying Russiana aboard.
“Thraia.”
I didn’t talk anymore, and when I was about to take myself on the speedboat, Reign gently grabbed me by the waist, and without any remarks, he claimed my lips. His warm and soft lips were passionately brushing with mine. It was long after we broke from each other.
I was panting, gasping for air with our foreheads stuck together. Reign’s heart was beating furiously. It was loud that I can hear it. He touched my cheeks. The next thing he said gives pain to my chest.
“Goodbye.”
