Chapter 31: Chapter 31

“Give me the umbrella,” Reign said when we got out of the house through the main door. One of his men handed him the black umbrella.

I don’t have any idea what Reign will do with the umbrella. It’s still early in the morning, and there’s no heat from the sun yet. If there is one, it still can’t hurt our skin.

It’s already given that his house is big and Reign came from a wealthy family and himself, but I still can’t help and be surprised when I see the whole of this vast house. Significantly, it was located at the top of the island, and you can see everything below.

Ostentatious. That’s what can describe the exterior of Reign’s home. The way out of his house was full of Bermudas. Its width is like a manor. I didn’t know that this was the front of his house, surrounded by rare flowers.

I can’t even describe the beauty I see right now because I can’t find the exact word for it, even myself. There is only one thing I want to know; about how prosperous Reign is.

We started walking outwards while stepping on Bermuda. No rails are surrounding Reign’s house or a gate. It was telling the people that they were welcome to enter.

At the back of the house, the terrace was located along with the big trees. I never thought the front would be so beautiful while the back would be forested.

I remembered the day I ran away. What could have happened to Isaac? Also, with Elliott? I haven’t seen him since that day.

I also remember Reign saying yesterday to release Elliot. Why? Where is he? What did he do to his own cousin?

I turned to look at Reign because he was beside me, and we walked together. I stopped because I caught his blue eyes staring at me. He did the same thing.

I just now noticed that the umbrella was placed over my head as he held it. I was wondering what he was doing but didn’t miss the heat bestowed on my cheeks.

“Yes?” Reign asked with a serious expression on his face. He looks like nothing happened yesterday and acting as usual. But yesterday almost killed me! I looked at his left arm hit by a bullet; there is a bandage wrapped on it.

“Where are we going?” I asked him back, then returned my eyes to him.

“Into the Islanders’ village,” Reign directly answered without breaking off his blue eyes from me. I just avoided his eyes and looked to the front. I might drown forever in his deep gazes.

Even with my eyes in front, I could still feel Reign’s stares at me. I just ignored him and started walking again, so did Reign while holding the umbrella. I also thought that some of his men were following behind us.

We padded until we reached the end of Bermuda. We were greeted by a concrete staircase decorated with blue color and a flower design. It’s too long and round.

I don’t know, but I was more amazed at this island. On the side of the stairs are towering trees, just like the Japanese Shrine.

Reign abruptly closed the umbrella he was holding and immediately handed it to his men behind us.

I was surprised because he suddenly grabbed my left arm gently. I looked at him. I don’t know, but I’m confused. I always catch Reign’s blue eyes staring at me. What is his problem?

“What?” I was shocked by his baritone voice. The expression on Reign’s face changed as he stared at me. He must have seen the shock on my face.

“I-Is your wound fine?” I bit my lower lip. I never thought I would stutter in this situation. Why of all answers out there, this thing came out? I never thought the contents of my brain would come out from my mouth!

“Don’t tell me,” Reign’s eyebrows clashed, “You’re worrying because I got hit by a bullet?” He asked with curiosity. I didn’t answer and immediately averted my gaze from his blue eyes.

I tightly held on to my dress to suppress my emotions. I feel like my chest is going to explode because of the furious beating. My breath was heavy, as if I had been hit by a huge rock.

It’s too obvious that I think of Reign’s wound on his arm. Yes! I was worried about what had happened to him, but I tried to get it out of my mind. I don’t want to admit that I’m worried, but why do I even need to slip in my own mouth?

“You are getting the wrong idea,”  I reasoned without looking at him. God! Please help me out of this situation.

“You are bad at lying, my woman,” because of that, I suddenly turned my gaze on him with confusion.

“Your woman? I’m no--”

“Shhh. Don’t try to change the subject,” If too much pounding can explode, I would definitely not be in this world anymore. My chest was throbbing so fast. It seemed like butterflies were flying inside my stomach because Reign did by putting his index finger on my lips to cut my words.

And what is he saying that I’m trying to change the subject? He was the one who suddenly changed the topic! I just asked how his wound was, but the answer he gave went to another planet!

I wanted to remove his index finger on my lips, but I couldn’t because it was as if my body was nailed. I was even more surprised, and I could already hear the furious throb of my chest as he suddenly brought his face closer to mine. I was able to stare into his blue eyes.

“Don’t worry, my woman. I’m all good, and this wound is nothing so,” he stopped and kissed my lip. Not as in my lip, but he kissed the space between our lips, which is his index finger pressed against mine, “don’t bother yourself worrying about me. I can handle this,” Reign immediately let go of my lips. He twisted his left hand with the wound and put it behind my head. He gently brought it to his chest and even kissed my forehead; it made me feel something nostalgic.

I could smell his masculine perfume, and honestly, it was attractive. Significantly when my eyes fall on his neck. I couldn’t help but feel something strange in my body just seeing Reign’s adam’s apple move. I didn’t realize he was this tall. My head is just below his shoulder, which is almost at his neck.

I don’t really know why Reign doing this to me. Why he treats me like this. I don’t know his purpose in me, but I can’t help and be happy with the situation and his showing action.

I feel important because of him, and I have all his attention. That’s what I see the base in what he shows me, but I’m still confused why. I shook my head. This is not the time to think about that thing.

Reign gently separated my head from his chest. He held both my cheeks and focused his blue eyes on mine, “Let’s go. Don’t worry too much, okay?” he then kissed the tip of my nose, which made me blush.

He turned and immediately walked down the stairs. It took me a long time to react while still clinging to my clothes, “You are getting the wrong idea! I’m not worried or something,” I hissed and then started taking steps behind him. I can see his broad and secure back.

“If not, then why are you so defensive, my woman?” he said without looking at me, but I can feel that he was smiling. I could see his rising from my position.

“I’m not defensive! I’m just defending myself because you are accusing me of the wrong idea, and don’t call me my woman!” I said as I continued to walk. I was out of breath because the concrete stairs were too long. Is it going to space?

“What do you want me to call you?” Reign stopped and look back. I refrain myself. His face was serious, but it suddenly grinned as our eyes met, “How about wifey? Honey? Sweetheart? Baby? Love?” he looks silly while saying those endearments. My lips quivered while looking at him.

Unbelievable, “None of the above,” I said and immediately bring my feet to walk again. When will this staircase end? I want to fold it!

“Will, I will call you in a manner that I want,” I heard Reign said, but I just ignored him. My knees are feeling numb. Why is this staircase so long! I would rather jump in the yard of Reign’s house than walk up these giant concrete stairs!

I’m sure after I walk down these stairs, I’m like an old man holding both of her knees dealing with arthritis!

I would have complained to Reign if we still have long steps to take, but I had already taken the last stage of the stairs. I didn’t realize that we had reached the end of the stairs.

When I looked ahead, I felt dumbfounded because of the beauty of what my eyes could see. Many people are wearing indigenous clothes, busy doing something. My gaze is fixed on the houses that were two or three meters away from each other. It is made of prefabricated mud.

It’s like I’m in three hundred years before today. I take another step entirely out of the stairs and look upwards. There were whose fan hanging while colored with blue and yellow. It was like having a fiesta.

I was just surprised when suddenly a young girl islander approached me. She was carrying something colored blue and looked at me. I stared into her eyes. Her skin is like everyone else’s, brunette, and her eyes are like Thraia’s, clear amber color.

I immediately bent down to match her size. I was surprised when she suddenly raised her hands and immediately placed something on my head. Then the little girl ran away, so I followed her with my gaze. She approached the two old men standing, and only now I noticed that the people had stopped what they were doing while looking at us.

I touched the object that rested on my head. It was a leis crown made with frangipani flowers.

“Welcome to Goriy Island’s Village, my woman,” Reign said. I stood up and then looked at him. He was smiling, telling me that he cherishes this place.

I don’t know why but I smiled without knowing the reason, “It’s beautiful Reign,” I said and take a look at the islanders along with their village, then returned my eyes to Reign that was already staring at me with shock, “Such a beautiful island and subject you have,”
