Chapter 72: Chapter 72
Chapter 70
I can't help but feel worried as we approach Rema Kingdom. Alpha King remained silent throughout. He seemed to be intently contemplating something. I know it will be difficult, especially for the entire kingdom. Everyone assumed I was dead. And now I'm back as if nothing happened. Of course, they'll wonder why I didn’t return after nearly two years.
I could tell them I had amnesia, but some would be skeptical. Some people would not trust me. I can give them my hospital meds, however... Will they believe it if it comes from a human hospital? I'm not sure. It's quite complicated. They also don't like me since then. They don't want me for Alpha Greyson because of my Rema's blood. Elder Raymond was the only one who accepted me.
My thoughts came to a halt when we arrived at Rema's Kingdom. The palace guards greeted us and led us to Alpha Troy's office. The Rema Kingdom's palace has not changed. I suddenly remember that tragic night.
"So, it's true. You're really alive," Alpha Troy said as he spotted me. We both exchanged glances. His emerald eyes gaze at me as if he can't believe I'm still alive and breathing in front of him.
"It's nice to see you again, Alpha Troy," I greeted. He smiled. "I'm glad you're still alive," Alpha Troy stated as he approached me to hug me. I was taken aback by what he did, but I let him. He's my sole blood relative here, therefore I suppose we're family.
"I guess you're too guilty, huh?" I jokingly observed. He pulls away from the hug. "Of course! You vanished in my land! Who would've felt guilty!" he spits, and I chuckled. His gaze turned to Alpha Greyson, who stood behind me, observing us.
"So... why is the runaway Alpha King here?" he withdrew from the hug and shifted his eyes to Alpha Greyson. So... He is aware that Alpha Greyson fled the kingdom.
"We must enter the North Snow and follow the path to Rema's Forest," Alpha Greyson stated emphatically.
"Why?" Alpha Troy said. "Your Elders would be overjoyed if they knew you'd arrived." Alpha Troy laughed. "It's funny how the Elders think we're powerless when we're mateless, right?" joked Alpha Troy. I locked my gaze on Alpha Troy. Now that I think about it... Alpha Troy is still without a mate! I don't smell any woman's scent in him.
"I am not mateless. Amara is here with me,” Alpha Greyson said coldly.
"But your Elders believe you are, the reason they are attempting to remarry you," Alpha Troy responded. Alpha Greyson's jaw clenched. I instantly recall Miguel's words from back then. Those Alpha Kings are nothing without their mates. So... this is the reason why the Alpha Kings badly want a mate.
"Just let us enter your forest, Troy." Alpha Greyson said seriously. The way Alpha Greyson refers to Alpha Troy surprised me. They appear to be close, don't they?
Alpha Troy smiled and added, "Of course, for the sake of my cousin, Greyson." Alpha Troy walked out of the office. As we followed Alpha Troy, Alpha Greyson grasped my hand. We were accompanied by Alpha Troy's Beta, some palace guards, and Miguel as we passed through the palace's back gate.
"This is the path. Have a safe journey," Alpha Troy said, pointing to a door. I gulped hard, and Miguel opened the door for us, revealing tall trees and snow falling from the sky.
"We'll go ahead now, Alpha Troy," I remark as I wave farewell to Alpha Troy. Alpha Troy nodded and smiled at me as Alpha Greyson and I went into the forest. Behind us is Miguel quietly observing the surroundings.
I recall this forest. The secret house I visited was close by. And the cliff from which I plunged... It was right here in the forest! When I saw the secret house, I came to a halt. Alpha Greyson stopped with me. He also looked at the secret house.
"Are you okay?" Alpha Greyson asked. He looked at me with concerned eyes. I hastily shook my head. I assured him with a smile. "I suddenly remember something..." I reminisced. His brow furrowed.
"Is it what happened that night?" he sought out. My head shook. "It was back when I first met you..." I explained. He fell silent. We both exchanged glances. His gaze returned to the secret house. I noticed a flash of pain in his eyes. Because I knew the memory was difficult for him, I bit my bottom lip. That night was when he was tortured by Dylan's rogues.
"I-I'm so sorry—"
"It was supposed to be a nightmare..." he interrupted. He returned his gaze to me.
"But... it turns out to be a wonderful dream when I saw you here..." he went on. What he said broke my heart.
"I desperately want to end this and just live happily with you, Alpha Greyson..." my voice trembles. His eyes went soft when he looked at me. He grasped both of my jaws and rubbed the skin there gently. I nearly closed my eyes as he lightly touched my skin.
"I'll put an end to this... after this... we'll live happily ever after," he assured. I agreed by nodding. I couldn't ask for anything more than to spend a long time with Alpha Greyson. I want to spend my life with him. I'd like to start a family with him. I want to be with him for better or worse. I want him to be a part of my life. I realize it's selfish, but I can't live without him. I was a coward when I stated that I deserved to die for my sins, but... When I consider a life without him, my heart aches.
It took us nearly an hour to reach the forest of North Snow Kingdom. Miguel assisted us in entering the palace silently, as planned. We sneak into the palace without being noticed. Alpha Greyson knows the secret pathway in the palace because he grew up here.
My gaze was drawn here as soon as we entered our old room. I haven't looked around here in almost two years. It's quite nostalgic. Everything catches my attention. Nearly nothing has changed. My clothes are still there. Alpha Greyson didn't appear to have altered or relocated anything in our room.
"I'll call someone to help you fix yourself," Alpha Greyson said. He stepped outside, and when he returned, he was accompanied by two women I hadn't seen in a long time!
"Rose! Kylie!" I couldn't help but smile when I saw them, but they were stunned and couldn't move, so I approached them both and hugged them warmly.
"Y-Your Majesty?" they said as I pulled back from the hug and glanced at them. "Yes!" I said enthusiastically, and when it all hits them, they both cry and attack me with a firm hug.
"You're alive, your Majesty!" exclaimed both of them. I chuckled a bit because of their reaction. I couldn't really blame them. I was dead for two years and I am suddenly here, alive and breathing!
They both cried for so long that even while they were helping to fix me, they both continued to cry. I shared my story quickly because we didn't have much time to discuss it, especially since Alpha Greyson mentioned that all the officials were already in the conference hall and appeared to be having a meeting.
"Kylie and I heard that the Elders are considering finding a new Alpha King if Alpha Greyson doesn't return for another day!" Rose stated as Alpha Greyson listened. Alpha Greyson's jaw was clenched. So, everything is occurring because Alpha Greyson is mateless for them. Now I understand why Alpha Greyson attempted to marry me despite his dislike for me before. He would lose his power if he was without a mate. And it's finally happening.
Of course, mates are vital to us, especially since they are bestowed by the Moon Goddess, and a kingdom is weak if the Alpha King does not have a mate.
"We should hurry, Alpha Greyson," I worriedly stated. Alpha Greyson gave a nod. I rose to follow him. I could see the horror on the faces of the folks we passed as we left the room. When the servants and royal guards saw me, their jaws dropped. They looked as if they had seen a ghost. Alpha Greyson gripped my hand firmly.
"Y-Your Majesty?" We came to a halt when we noticed Elder Raymond. Elder Raymond's eyes practically popped out of shock as he moved his gaze to me.
"Q-Queen Luna?" His voice resonated throughout the corridor. Everyone is now staring at me!
"What's happening inside the conference, Raymond?" Alpha Greyson inquired coldly. Elder Raymond bowed, his hands trembling.
"They didn't want me to come inside because they knew I'd be biased! They are planning to dethrone you, your Majesty!" Elder Raymond stated nervously, and I was as well.
"Assholes..." I heard Alpha Greyson say as he drew me toward the meeting room. The palace guard who was protecting the room was stunned to see Alpha Greyson and didn't know whether to open the door or not.
"Open the door," Alpha Greyson commanded. The royal guards were wary. When Alpha Greyson immediately snatched their swords and pointed toward them, my lips parted! What? I didn't even see him moving! He was lightning fast!
"Y-Yes, your Majesty!" they both exclaimed, terrified. They pushed open the door. Alpha Greyson threw down the swords and entered the room.
"Then it is decided! Alpha Alfred of the Eastern Snow Pack will be the new Alpha King if Alpha King Greyson does not return tomorrow and continues to refuse to marry the Princess of the Urzua—"
"So, you're all really dethroning me," Alpha Greyson said, breaking the silence. When they spotted Alpha Greyson in the doorway, they all dropped their jaws. Elder Raymond remained in the distance. The palace officials became immediately quiet, and terror could be seen in their eyes.
"Traitors..." Alpha Greyson growled, his voice grim. Even I felt his ominous presence. So... This is the Alpha King's power of authority.
