Chapter 32: Chapter 32
Chapter 30
I couldn't stop thinking about what Elder Agnes had told me. I know Alpha Carl rules well in the South White Pack, but knowing that this place has a tumultuous history makes me sad. I locked my gaze on Alpha Greyson, who was conversing with Alpha Carl. I, on the other hand, remained inside the tent while arranging the flowers given to me by the children.
Alpha Greyson was definitely aware of the South White Pack's past. And he's undoubtedly aware that Dylan is an old friend of his father's.
I was stunned when suddenly Alpha Greyson turned in my direction. I grimaced and averted my gaze. I was just surprised when he entered the tent. He sat next to me as he went to get a drink of water. When he was seated properly, I couldn't help but turn to him. He still has the glass in his hand.
"Are you done talking with Alpha Carl?" I ask. His gaze was fixed outside of the tent. Some are preoccupied because they are preparing for a small dinner party tonight. Alpha Greyson and I will be leaving later because we will be having dinner here.
"Yeah," he replied.
"Have you told him what you're planning?" I asked even though I knew he might not answer me. He cast a peek at me. I can't help but feel nervous once more.
"You're asking like you know what I'm planning," he stated. "I didn't know your plan but I know it will be great for the pack," I said, turning my focus to the flowers I was arranging.
"How do you say that? Do you forget that I can kill or sacrifice anyone just to get what I want?" his tone was chilly, and I came to a halt, staring at the flowers.
"I believed in you when you said you were changing your plans..." I admitted weakly.
"I had no idea you were so naive," he commented. My lips parted as I turned to face him. So, he lied when he said he changed his mind?!
"What do you mean? You lied to me?" I asked, my voice trembling.
"No. I was telling the truth,” He replied. I exhale a breath of relief. I really thought everything was a lie. So... why is he telling me all of this?
"Alpha Greyson... do you think... the Rogues will attack this place again?" I wondered. He slumped back in his seat, staring at the glass of water in his hand.
"Yes..." he answered resolutely I made a blink. Will rogues target this place again? So... why doesn't he appear concerned?
"In that case... send more personnel here—"
"I'm not stupid; of course, I'll do that," he interrupted. I lowered my gaze. "But..."
"A war against the Rogues is inevitable," he said. I became tense. Why does this keep happening? It seems like the chaos between Rema and North Snow just ended. It's now a battle between the Rogues and North Snow.
"My parents died because of the Rogues..." I couldn't help but said that. I clenched my fist as I remembered the time the Rogues stormed our small house.
"However, I try not to be enraged with them because I understand why they destroy kingdoms. However, if more people die as a result of them... I can't help but despise them."
"The Rogues killed your parents?" Alpha Greyson asked, and I hurriedly nodded. Does he not believe me? Does he still suspect me of being a Rema kingdom spy?
"Yes... The investigators then took me in, but... I got away. I don't like the way he looks at me," I remarked.
"What?" Alpha Greyson asked in disbelief. I turned to face him and was taken aback by the anger in his eyes. Is he upset with me? Did he think I was lying? Does he not believe me?!
"Do you remember that fucking investigator?" he asked, his voice tense and angry. I blinked a couple of times. I don't understand him. But by the way, he looks at me, I don't think he's upset with me. If so, who?
"A little, but that was a long time ago, and I hardly remember—"
"Remember him!" he demanded, which startled me even more; what is his problem?
"I can hardly remember that—"
"Describe what you remember then," he asked quietly. I sighed in defeat and described what I remember while Alpha Greyson listened quietly.
"I don't understand. Why do you want to know? It was a long time ago. And one more thing... I don't even care anymore. What matters is that I escaped from him then," I explained later.
He turned away from me.
"I don't like people who use their power to hurt someone," he explained. I thought about what he said.
"Aren't you doing the same thing?" I'm unable to stop myself. But I shouldn't have said that because Alpha Greyson is now glaring at me.
"It's different. Every decision I make serves a purpose, and it's only for the kingdom," he explained. I just nodded because he was quite right. It's just that I still don't agree with his way.
"Yes, by the way... I suddenly remembered... you said I looked like someone... where is that person now?" I saw him come to a halt. I suddenly remembered what he had previously told me. That person he was referring to and I had the same look, which is why he let me live despite everything I've done. I also remembered something Beta Miguel had previously told me. That Alpha Greyson has a past he's been trying to forget. And, according to Beta Miguel, I am the key. I didn't believe him since I didn't know what Beta Miguel was talking about in the past.
But now that I remember that Alpha Greyson told me that I look like someone, maybe that's the reason.
"I don't know," Alpha Greyson said. My brow furrowed. How could he not know?
"Whomever that person is, she's probably one of the people you care about, Alpha Greyson," I said, biting my lower lip. "But if that person really looks like me... I hope you don't mistake me for her. I know that's why I'm still alive but... I'm not that person, Your Majesty."
I know Alpha Greyson will be angry because everything I say is meaningless, but I hope he can grasp what I'm saying even now. He is aware of my affection for him. So, I'm hoping... he doesn't hurt me like that.
The whole area was deafeningly quiet. The sun has already set, making it gloomy outdoors. Perhaps the food for our dinner is ready. So, I approached Alpha Greyson to ask him out, but he grabbed my wrist and pushed me towards him, forcing me to tumble into his lap!
My eyes were open wide! My heart was pounding so fast and so hard that I couldn't catch my breath. When our gazes locked, my lips parted. His blue eyes were staring at me with such intensity that I almost melted. Although I can't read him, I can feel his warmth on my skin.
"I really hate your mouth sometimes..." he mumbled. When his eyes locked on my lips, I swallowed hard. I struggled to get out of his arms, but his grip tightened. I shoved even harder against his hard chest.
"I-I'm sorry if I offended you with what I said—"
I stopped talking when he quickly touched his lips to mine. I could feel the softness of his lips. My knees trembled. My lips quiver. My body... anticipated more.
"But... I like it now," he whispered after the kiss. And then he had entire control over my lips. As he kissed me, I held to his shoulder. I'm not sure why he's kissing me right now. At this point, I'm not sure what to feel. However, in eighteen years of existence... this is my first time to wish for time to stop between the two of us.
