Chapter 27: Chapter 27
Chapter 25
I wasn't sure how I'd react as Kylie and Rose assisted me in putting on my wedding gown. My hair is tied back, and I look nothing like the person I used to be. I still can't believe I'm here as the bride of the Alpha king after being the housekeeper of this palace.
But I know this is not my ideal marriage. I had hoped to be Alpha Greyson's wife, but this did not sit well with me. Now that he understands how I feel about him, I know he despises me even more. I know he now believes I want to marry him in order to usurp the monarchy. I'm not sure why he thinks that of me. I've never been interested in power.
I just have one desire. And it was to keep Shena safe from harm. I want Shena back, and in order to do it, I need to marry the Alpha king, since I know I can roam freely inside this palace if I am the queen and the Alpha king's mate.
"You are stunning, Lady Amara!" Kylie said as I looked in the mirror at my reflection.
“All of them will surely be amazed, Lady Amara!" Rose agreed. I took a big breath and glanced in the mirror. I am wearing a V-neck design with an off-shoulder short sleeve wedding gown embellished with a multitude of pearls and crystal beads. It appears hypnotic and breathtaking. But does it really suit me since I realize our marriage isn't as lovely as I imagined?
My thoughts were interrupted when the door to my room unexpectedly opened. When we turned around, we saw Beta Miguel. I noticed Beta Miguel looking at me so I smiled at him. Only Beta Miguel, Mrs. Clea, Yna, and Gina seem to comprehend my condition.
"The ceremony will start in a minute; are you ready?" he said after some time. I took a deep breath and looked down at the flowers I was holding. My hands are covered with gloves, but they don't hide how shaky I am right now.
"I'm not sure," I admitted. I sensed him approaching me. I was taken aback when he respectfully bowed to me. I locked my gaze on him.
"I know you can do it, Luna Amara," he stated confidently. I was taken aback by the way he addressed me.
"Because I am not yet married to Alpha Greyson, you should address me as Lady," I said. He smiled as he glanced up at me. That smile made me feel better in some way. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have friends on whom I can rely in difficult times.
"You were always destined to be called that, Luna Amara, so never doubt yourself," he stated before turning and walking towards the door. He looked at me before leaving.
"Congratulations, Luna," he remarked as he shut the door. I nodded, feeling more determined there. I don't need to consider what Alpha Greyson has to say. The most crucial thing is to complete everything and locate Shena. That is all that is important.
The shrine started to reverberate throughout the palace. As I stood in front of the grand double doors that lead to the aisle, all the ladies-in-waiting formed a line behind me. The guards shifted into their wolf form when the double doors opened and marched behind me. The orchestra started their solemn song as I walked down the aisle. The audience was quiet as they stared at me in the center.
I'm nervous as hell, yet I can't take my eyes off the scenery. My heart was pounding before I walked down the aisle, but when I saw this location, I couldn't help but feel grateful that I was the one who was in the middle of it right now.
I took a deep breath and switched my gaze forward. When Alpha Greyson and I locked eyes, the anxiousness I was trying to hide became even more honed. In his royal wedding suit, he looks dashing and gorgeous. He appears to be both stylish and manly. The crown on his head lends him authority. When I arrived at the front, I swallowed hard. Alpha Greyson extended his hand, asking me to wrap my arm around his.
I did what he wanted and the moment we touched my wolf suddenly celebrated. Though, it’s not how I feel right now.
"You have come together into the house of the palace of North Snow kingdom so that your intention to enter into marriage may be strengthened by the Moon Goddess with a sacred seal in the presence of the entire nation and thy land," a marital elder began to initiate the marriage.
Our gazes were riveted. His dispassionate gaze gnawed at every nook and cranny of my being. But I don't understand why, despite his coldness, my heart still beats for him.
"To begin the matrimonial ceremony, Alpha King Greyson Ruiz and Lady Amara Brooks, have you come here to enter into marriage freely and wholeheartedly, without coercion?"
I forced a strong swallow. "I have," I said.
"I have," Alpha Greyson replied.
"Are you prepared to love and honor each other for the rest of your lives as you embark on the path of marriage?"
"I am," Alpha Greyson and I both replied.
The elder then took a cup of wine and handed it to Alpha Greyson.
"Drink this sacred wine to bind this marriage," said the Elder. Alpha Greyson drank without a doubt. I fixed my gaze on the goblet from which he sipped his wine. This is something I should try. I took a deep breath and drank the last drop of wine.
"Now, to conclude this ceremony, please give each other this ring to represent the mate bond and marriage," the elder added as he handed us the rings. I took a deep breath and started speaking.
"I, Amara Brooks, take you, Alpha Greyson Ruiz, to be my king and my husband; I promise to be faithful to you in good times and bad, in sickness and in health, to love and honor you all the days of my life; this is my solemn vow, my... mate," I swallowed hard and was about to place the ring on his finger when he suddenly whispered to me.
"You must be overjoyed," he remarked, startling me. His accusation seems to wring my heart. I'll be pleased if I can only be happy as he stated! But I'm not! This isn't the marriage I envisioned! This is not the life I desired!
"Put it on me now, I'm getting bored here," he grumbled. My eyes were about to well up with tears, but I fought them back.
It's all right, Amara. Don't worry about what he's saying. It's fine. I'm not in this marriage to beg for his affection. This marriage is for me to find my friend Shena.
I gingerly put the ring onto his ring finger.
"It's your turn now, Alpha," stated the elder. Alpha Greyson now has the ring that was meant for me.
"In the name of the Moon Goddess, I, Alpha Greyson Ruiz, take you, Amara Brooks, to be my... queen... wife... the mother of my kingdom and my heirs, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness or in health, to love and to cherish, until we are parted by death. This is my solemn vow, my mate."
Tears welled up inside my eyes as I watched him place the same ring on my finger. At the same time that the crowd clapped, he slipped the ring onto my finger. To rejoice with us, the wolves howled and the orchestra performed a cheerful song.
"In the presence of the Moon Goddess and these witnesses, I now pronounce you husband and wife! And Lady Amara Brooks as queen and Luna of this thy kingdom!" the elder declared as he approached me and gently placed a crown on my head. It was a bit heavy, and it makes me nervous to wear it because I know it costs a lot of money.
"You may now kiss Queen Luna, Alpha King Greyson Ruiz," the elder remarked. When Alpha Greyson drew me closer to him, I gasped. The audience became much more agitated. The wolves howl in unison. When our gazes locked, I swallowed hard.
"How does it feel to be my wife?" he raised an eyebrow. I clenched my fist and turned away.
"T-Terrible," I bravely said. He chuckled mockingly and turned to face me.
"Certainly," he murmured, and I felt his lips meet mine without more ado. The heat of his kiss permeated my entire body. Even with this horrible feeling, I still want to kiss him. Even in these circumstances, I adored the Alpha king of the North Snow kingdom, who was now my husband.
