Chapter 22: Chapter 22
I huff and I take my bags off my arm and begin to place everything away. I make sure to do the lingerie first, I don't know how I'd explain that to Jack. Quickly, everything I bought is put away and only known to me.
Jack storms in, everything in the room stops. The wind stops, the clock stops ticking, not even the door makes a sound, as it creates a border between us and everyone else. I gather up all my self-confidence (which isn't much but it'll have to do), and I ask Jack why he is acting the way he is.
"What's up with you?" I ask.
At first he doesn't look at me, then he glares at me. "Nothing, just being the bad monster as you envisioned me to be."He answers sarcastically.
"Fine, forget I ever asked." I step down off my high horse and begin to leave.
"Wait! I'm sorry, Samantha. It's just that the guards who were sent to watch me, died. And everyone thinks it was me." My mate confesses.
I start to reply, but he keeps talking. "That is what my meeting was about. They called early around five in the morning to tell me their assumption. Of course all of the logic was there. I am a murderer and when someone who could be sneaking around working with the devil's guards die, they plant it all on you." Jack rants.
I supportively rub his arm. "I'm sorry, Jack. That is not a good thing and I know you didn't kill them, but-" He cuts me off.
"And, it's not like I go around killing people," from what I've heard, he does, "I kill because that is the penalty for disobeying my rules in my pack. The fine is death." He elaborates the reason behind his anger.
"Jack, I know you're furious, but you know what you do today? Since, your day didn't go as planned, you ruined my day and a friendship that means a lot to me. You yelled at me, sure you've done it before, but now I feel like I can actually tell you that you're hurting my feelings!" I change the subject.
"Baby, I'm sorry. I don't know what I was thinking! I should not have treated you the way I did. Especially because of last night." He smirks at the end. I giggle and my cheeks redden, but I don't cave in.
"You forbid me and Emily to be friends." I state emotionlessly. "Samantha, I didn't mean to. I just I got a little mad." He tries to make it seem like the reason he was mean to me, wasn't his fault.
"Okay, sure, but I'm going to talk to Emily. We're done here." Then I exit, Jack attempts to stop me, it doesn't work.
I speed to Philip and Emily's room, as fast as I can.
"Philip! Stop it!"
"No."
"Philip, seriously!"
"Shh..."
"Get away from me!"
This is when I troop in. I see Philip on top of Emily, holding her down against the wall by her wrists. Surely, bruises forming as a reminder of the betrayal of her mate.
"Emily!" I run over to her and try my best to pull Philip off of her. He doesn't budge. "Sam." Emily sighs out. His grip loosens. Emily takes this chance to push him away from her.
Emily's breathing heavily, "What the hell, Emily?" Philip trots toward her, I get in between them. Philip almost makes a move.
"You won't hurt me." I exclaim. "And why is that?" Philip growls. "I am the Alpha's mate, your consequence for murdering me will be your own death. And I do not wish such pain upon Emily." I say strongly.
"You're nothing but a pup, a mutt." He barks at me. I flinch. And my flame cowers away. "Philip, stop being such a little bitch." Emily defends. "I am not a little bitch." Philip responds. "You are. I'm done with you. I came here to tell you that, I'm not ready to bare a child. I'm barely even an adult. I need you to respect me, and my body.
"Philip, this pains me, but if you don't learn to accept my needs and wants, I will leave you." Emily finalizes.
"You're bluffing!" Philip's eyes become watery. Emily's stay dry as a desert. "Am I?" Philip lets a single tear fall. Emily stares at him. She feels bad for making her mate upset, but she knew what had to do.
She is my role model.
I grab her by the shoulders, and lead her out of the room. I assume as soon as we're somewhere secluded, she'll break out into tears. But she never does.
"Are you okay?"
"Yes."
"Emily, he almost-"
"I know, I was there."
"You can't be okay!"
"Well, I am."
"Emily, it's okay. You can trust me."
"God damn! I am okay. Fucking perfect, even! Okay?"
"Yeah, " I pause, "I guess."
"What did Jack say?"
"Apparently, his guards were killed and everyone thinks it was him. So, I'm pretty sure the ally is dead."
"Oh, damn."
"Yeah, I know. I feel bad."
"That is pretty bad. Did you tell him you're not putting up with his crap?"
"Yes."
"How did it go?"
"It told me that that he is sorry, and he didn't mean to."
Emily doesn't respond. I catch my mate's scent, mixed with Philip's. Emily smells them as well. 'Don't tell Jack.' She mouths, I nod. Me and Emily stare at each other. The awkward tension fills the air.
"Emily, can I talk with you?" Philip offers. I glare at the ground, as Jack's hand slip around my torso. He plants a soft kiss on my neck, where he marked me. Emily stares at me, "Yes."
"He told me." Jack brings up. "Told you what?" I play dumb. "No need to act oblivious, I know you know." He replies. I sigh, "What was his excuse?" I wonder. Jack takes a deep breath and hugs me tighter.
"He didn't have one." Jack whispers. I nod. Jack kisses my neck again. Over and over.
I moan, "Jack." He deepens my pleasure. My eyes close tight and I bite my lip. He turns me around and my eyes open. Lustfully, he pushes his lips onto mine, I return the gesture. His hands travel up and down my spine, mine play with the bottom of his navy blue jacket. Jack's hands reach down into my pants. I pull away.
"Not here." I can feel my face cool down. "Then, let's go back to the room." Jack whispers huskily. The offer is tempting, then my stomach growls. I'm hungry for two reasons. One, because my mate is sexy as ever. Two, because I haven't eaten in four hours. "Are you hungry?" Jack plays with my hair. I nod. "KFC?" I smile.
After ordering, we eat in the car. We pass cute stores, filled with anything and everything. There is a store called, I'm So Booked! It was a calendar and a book store. I laugh at the clever word play.
"Can we go in there?" I plead. Jack looks to where I'm pointing, "Of course." He smiles at me. I smile super hard and stare at the adventure ahead of me.
We walk in and I look at a ton of cooking books, dog calendars and more. There's a book there called, Dear Nobody. It's a true story about a girl named, Mary Rose, who has to deal with her drug addiction and boys.
The book interests me. I show Jack. "Out of every book in this store, you choose the one about an addict?" Jack raises his eyebrows. I shrug.
"I'm getting it!"
The ride back is quiet, it always is. I see a blonde girl. Roaming the streets, she looks scared and lost. She walks in the circles, like someone is chasing her. Then the blonde girl, faces me. Genelia.
