Chapter 21: Chapter 21
The car ride is short and quiet. I've always loved silent car rides. It gives me time to ponder about life while looking out at the horizon. Seeing what adventure is ahead of us.
We get to the mall and we walk around. The first store Emily wanders into is, LuluLemon. "What did you want to tell me?" I ask her as I look through their shirts in a size four.
"Okay, so for a few months how Philip has been dropping hints about starting a family. At first it was barely noticeable. Like, if we saw a kid with their parent, he'd say 'That looks like a pleasant life.' Then it started building into more. Like, he's pressuring me to have a child. Like, I can't just pop a pup out of my pussy!" Emily yells in fury. A few people stare, but go back to their shopping.
"You don't want kids?" I grab a long sleeved gray shirt. "Sure, at some point when I can assure their safety. But right now, this second? No. I'd be bringing a child into war. I don't know why Philip is pushing me so hard. He's never done anything like this before. He's always respected my choices." She picks up a gray knit pair of speed tights.
I grab a black yoga jacket I found, "Emily, it's your body, your choice. Philip can't force you to get pregnant. So talk to him, let him see what you think. Listen to him, let him show you what he thinks. But always stick to your opinion, okay?" I inform her. She nods, "Thanks, Samantha, I haven't had a friend like you in a long time."
We move on, after this we stop at Pottery Barn. "I was thinking about renovating the Dining Hall." Emily observes tables and chairs. "I've never seen it." I mutter. Emily stops dead in her tracks. "You're kidding!" She won't believe. "I haven't been at the pack house long enough." I shrug. "You've been here for over a month." Emily states. "Yeah, but I was kidnapped for almost four weeks."
"Oh, shit. Sorry, Samantha."
I sigh and I start sitting on a nice black leather couch. "Oh my God! Sam, you're a genius!" Emily yells and rushes over to feel the couch I'm sitting on. I stare at her confusedly, "I didn't do anything-" Emily cuts me off, as usual. "This couch will look amazing in the living room. But, we still need some stuff for the Dining Hall. I guess we'll have to do that online." Emily places her left hand thumb under her chin and her index finger going vertical up her lips.
I shrug. I'm not really an expert on the matter of interior design. "Yeah... okay! Anyway, let's go to the Kate Spade store, they're having a sale on purses and phone cases!" Emily tugs me to the other side of the mall.
I look around the store and I notice a pink bag. It has the iconic Kate Spade logo imprinted above the same. It's beautiful. I pick it up and stare at the price. $158.00! That's cheap for a purse like this! I pick it up and go to the check out line.
"Okay, since you and Jack are all touchy we should get you some things." Emily hints, I don't catch her drift. Until, she pulls me into Victoria's Secret.
"Uh, Emily?" I tap her shoulder, she turns. "Why are we here?" I finish. "Lingerie." She states bluntly. "But, we haven't even talked about mating!" I complain. "He's marked you. You both will have sexual urges to mate. If you do, you should at least look hot. Right?" I shrug. Emily rolls her eyes.
"So, you're more innocent. You might not want that Playboy type look, correct? So we'll stick to simple and sexy. What's your bra size?" Emily quizzes. "Thirty-Four D." I reply. Emily nods and goes through everything.
She comes out with a pastel pink pair. I have to admit, it's really cute. "You like it!" Emily yells in victory. I giggle and she picks out more. Each better than the last. We move toward the check out line and buy at least ten lingerie items.
I look over my shoulder and I see Emily yelling on the phone.
"Oh! Okay! So, now it's my fault that you're such an overprotective guy?"
"I swear! Fine, we'll come back. I swear Jack, you'll be the death of me."
Emily storms over to me, her eyes displaying her enragement. "We have to go."
The car ride is filled with Emily swearing about my mate under her breath. I ignore this.
"Fucking prick, bastard cunt ass dickhole!"
I take a deep breath and close my eyes.
They open to my mate's face. His anger is hidden well. I smile. "Samantha, I was worried." Jack open my door. His voice has no emotion. "It's not Emily's fault-" Jack cuts me off. "You're right, it is not." He agrees. I smile in triumphant. "It's yours," my smile falls to a frown, "I don't expect less from my brother's mate. But from you. I thought my rules here were clear. You will follow my rules. And, I never gave you permission to leave the pack house."
What? "Jack-" He stops me. "Go. I have business to attend to." Then he walks away. Jack leaves me stuck in my place. This is not the Jack I saw last night. What happened? Had I done something wrong?
My wolf whimpers. I look down at the ground and I strut to our room. I lay on the bed deep on my thoughts.
Jack. Jack. Jack. Everything was fine, nothing but twelve hours ago. Did he not enjoy last night? Am I a bad kisser? Have I upset him?
Further into my thoughts, I get. I never even notice Emily walk in. "Samantha!" She yells to catch my attention. "Yes? S-Sorry." I reply. "Jack says we can't be friends. He says, I am a bad influence on you. That my 'bitchiness' is rubbing off onto you." Emily spits out.
He can't do that! Emily is my only friend in this pack. I have no one. "But-" I start. "Talk to him. I don't know why he's being a little bitch. But he can't go around controlling all of us like this, even if he is the Alpha of this pack. He needs to stop acting like we're all his hoes." Emily preaches. "I agree, but Emily, I don't know how to talk to him!" I exclaim. "Figure it out." Then leaves.
