Chapter 52: Chapter 52

**Cassie’s POV**

It has been two months since I started to work for the biggest company here in Claybourne. I have to say that I am slowly coping with and adjusting to this kind of lifestyle.

To continue being healthy, I have to go at least once or three times per month to a nearby gym. There is no forest here, not like in Clayland, so it is also a fact that fewer activities for us werewolves will lead to sickness.

And speaking of sickness, my son looks unwell, and based on the signs and symptoms, he is starting to adapt to his real nature. Because once a werewolf turns the right age, we go on a process of 'Moonlight Blessing.'

an ability to shift into our wolf form.

My son is on his bed, and he is sweating so much. I know that this is just normal, but even though the possibility is low, there are fatality rates for Moonlight Blessing.

But my son has an alpha gene inside his body. I know that he can make it through.

I dialed Angel's number and called her. It is only five in the morning, and I hope I am not disturbing her at all.

"Cassie? Hello?" Angel answered the call.

"Angel? I am sorry if I called you this early. I think I can come to work; my son is sick, and he needs me. I hope Mr. Ross will understand this."

"Is Charlie okay? Why don't we call an ambulance or get him in the car and I will drive you to the hospital?" she kindly offered, and worry is evident in her voice.

As much as I want to, there is a tendency for my son to shift unexpectedly into a werewolf form, and that is a risky decision. There is no pack doctor here, so my dad and my brother are the only ones who can help me.

"We can manage, Angel. Thanks for your concern; I just want to tell you that."

"No worries! Tell me if I can help you with anything. I will buy some food for you!"

I did not have a chance to say no to her offer because she had already hung up.

I held my son's hand and kissed it. I am so worried now that my heart is beating so fast, and I want this phase to finally end.

"Charlie, son, please hold on. Don't leave Mommy too." I can't afford to lose someone so dear again.

"Is he still hot?" My dad came with a basin, and there is water and a few familiar leaves in there.

"He is way better now," I said, unable to stop bursting into tears.

"My grandson is strong, like his father. I believe that he will make it. I have been in that position. Every time that each of my sons and you have been into the Moonlight Blessing, I also fear losing one of you. But I have faith in all of you."

"Thanks, Dad. "I do not know what I will do without you."

I manage to get some rest because Dad insists that I should take a nap, even if it is just a wink.

I slept on the same bed as my son. I hug him tightly and kiss his forehead.

"Please, please be fine."

I was woken up by a continuous knock on the door. I know it is not my brother or my dad. They have a key to my apartment, so I am wondering who this person is.

I open the door, and to my surprise, my boss is here with Angel. And they have the tone of a paper bag on their hands.

"Sir? Angel?" I expressed a little bit of surprise at their sudden visit.

"Come inside," I said to them when I recovered a bit.

I am thankful that I managed to clean the living room before my son went through the moonlight blessings.

"Is he okay?" My boss asked me with a worried tone. I do not know why, but his eyes tell me that he is genuinely worried for my son's health, even though he saw Charlie only once.

"He is getting better; thanks for your concern. Have a seat; I will just get refreshments in the kitchen."

I hurriedly went inside the kitchen and prepared something for them. Angel came inside too, and she is giving me a paper bag.

"You mentioned that Charlie loves meat, so I go to the most well-known steakhouse here, and when I tell our boss that I will come to visit here, he also wants to go here. He even manages to buy some gifts for your son. It looks like my boss certainly takes a liking to Charlie. Well, Charlie is a charming boy."

I sighed. "Iskippedam not getting the both of you into trouble. I skip work, and now I am bothering your time."

Angel shook her head. "We are friends, so, naturally, I will help you; Charlie is a lovely kid. And I also wish for his recovery."

We came back to the living room, but Mr. Ross was not there anymore.

I saw that the door in my room was open, and when we peeked inside, we saw Mr. Ross looking at my son, and he looked too worried.

"This is weird," Angel said in a stunned tone.

"Weird?" I asked her. But of course, I have an idea why she said it.

"Boss has never been into children. I know firsthand how he handles some brat kids and some normal kids. But the way he is looking at Charlie seems strange to me."

"Maybe he is in a phase of wanting to build his own family." That is the only possible reason for it.

"Well, the boss has become strange or has been acting weird since he came back alive from that accident. A miracle happens: he is a few minutes dead, and he comes back to life as if he is given another chance."
