Chapter 22: Chapter 22
**Cassie's POV**
At long last, the end of this day has arrived. It is entertaining, but at the same time, it may be exhausting. I noticed the parents coming for me, and as they greeted me, they expressed their appreciation for the lessons I had given to their puppies.
After that, I reported myself at the packhouse immediately. It is dark already, and while it is still chilly, it is not quite as chilly as it has been in the past few weeks. A portent that the end of winter is near, including over the next few days.
I am walking through the area where there are only a few blocks between us and the icy woodland where there is not even a single light that can be seen. If it weren't for the fact that we have natural night vision, I'm sure it would be difficult for anyone to see in such a level of darkness; to put it more precisely, it feels spooky.
But the fact that the guy emerged from the shadows all of a sudden is what's throwing me off. It is indeed the one and only Aron. He still wears the faded jeans he broke in and the dark hoodie. I thought I caught a glimpse of fear in his eyes, but he managed to act as though nothing was wrong by covering up his feelings with a poker face.
"Hello there, sister-in-law," he addressed her with a greeting. It's strange hearing him speak like that. Or perhaps it is the real color of his hair.
To tell you the truth, this will be the very first time that I have had a conversation with Kaiden's younger brother or sister on my own.
Perhaps he has an angelic appearance, because he was well-liked in Clayland all the way back when he was attending a human school, and he is even more well-liked on our pack than he was then.
He is not quite as handsome as him, but he is the son of an alpha, and he is an exceptionally gifted and brilliant young man like him. This pack has a large number of female members, and all of them are more than willing to go to any lengths to be his mate.
From my vantage point, though, things appear quite differently; he is way too odd. He is not the same as Kaiden in both appearance and sensation.
My partner may appear to be cruel, serious, and dominant in character; but, he is actually a giant softy at the heart. In the book, Kaiden represents the kind of actual chivalry that we had come to believe did not exist any longer.
Let's get back to the situation. Because he walks so close to me, I have to take a step back. Aron gives me a naive smile, but I can tell from the malicious look in his eyes that there is danger lingering on his body. This is not something that can be hidden.
"Why did you step back, Cassie? In a tone that suggested flirtation, he stated, "I do not bite unless you want it." That made me feel sick to my stomach and disgusted me to no end. Even if it is meant to be a jest, it still feels awful all the same.
"What exactly are you referring to?" Aron, is it already night and how cold is it outdoors here? I inquired in an effort to steer the course of our conversation in a different direction.
His sneer, which causes me to experience yet another wave of chills, was accompanied by the statement, "Hmm, I guess something naughty."
"Whatever," I spit out those words. Now is the time for me to get away from him. Yes, I've been able to control my anger up to this point. This younger gentleman put me through the patient's examination.
"Why do you have to leave so quickly when we haven't even finished talking yet?" Is it not impolite to exit a conversation without uttering a single word?
I tighten my grip on my fist and pivot so that I am facing him once more, putting on an act with my smile. I hope he gets it.
I uttered the words "Bye..." in a tone that was icy.
I turn my back on everything behind me and walk away. Aron is a creep, and he is someone who ought to be under observation at all times. If he is found to be engaging in inappropriate behavior, he ought to be observed and assessed. After all, there is reason to believe that he is one of the individuals responsible for all of this mayhem.
Jealousy is a feeling that may envelop our hearts, and when it does, it tints all we see in an absolutely pure shade of dark. That was the kind of feeling that ought to be avoided at all costs. It is not good for anything, including your health.
After going inside the packhouse, it appears that Kaiden is already present in this location. I may spend too much time outside for the simple reason that I do not want to return to my house and be confronted with the same emptiness and solitude that I experienced outside.
For a werewolf like me, there is no finer place to call home than my fated pair. Just the thought of him being here brings me a sense of calm and contentment.
"You took too long outside, I almost decided to find you," he added in a slightly anxious tone, but I saw that he is relaxed now. "You took too long outside," he said. "I almost decided to find you."
"I really apologize if I kept you waiting too long outside. I told him, "I thought you would be late, so I decided to walk outside, just on the settlement, and not in the forest." "I thought you would be late because..."
His response was a nod and a sigh. But all of a sudden, he stopped what he was doing and started sniffing the air. He walked in my direction and began sniffing me as he approached.
He lets out a low growl as he says, "You smell like my brother." When I finally understood what was going on, my eyes widened because that young man's pheromone was all over me.
A pheromone is a scent that a werewolf will expel when they are going through the stages of heat after they have had sexual activity, or when they are trying to entice another individual. My ability to pick up the pheromones of others is impaired due to the fact that I have been marked.
My line of reasoning went as follows: "I am so sorry, I just talk to him outside, it seems that he went from the forest, and it just so happens that we talk and have a little chitchat," I said. "I am so sorry." Despite the fact that I am not embellishing the facts in any way.
"Cassie, keep your distance from that spoiled brat. He is a boy with two distinct personalities. He said to me, "It will be better for you to stay away from Aron," as he grasped my hand and gently dragged me to the restroom. "It will be better for you to stay away from Aron."
"You have to get that smell away from you," he continued with a trace of disdain in his tone. "You have to get that smell away from you." I have no choice but to take a shower right now because there is no other option.
I undressed carefully, and when I was completely nude in front of him, I noticed that his eyes widened as though he were seeing me in my birthday suit for the first first time.
I specifically observed a tent being constructed on that area of his pant leg. It would appear that someone is really thrilled.
"I will wash as well, as I believe that a relaxing soak in a hot bath will alleviate the weariness I feel." Reasons!
I sighed. "You'd be better off doing nothing but washing your body!"
“As if.”
