.
"It's time for us to leave young girl, hahaha..." I say seriously unfortunately, I'm unable to be serious when Matilda is around so I end up laughing while moving out of the dining.
"Where to?" she rapidly follows me in surprise. "Out of the palace of course." I keep walking towards the compound without caring much about her surprised reaction.
"Hey, is Maryline aware of this?" She runs and pauses inform of me with a hand on the waist. "I don't want to be the the bad influence here."
"Worry not young girl you won't be a bad influence if you behave well out there." just when I'm about to reply, Maryline's voice abruptly strikes.
"Okay, Madam" Matilda is embarrassed so she reluctantly faces Maryline. While, I'm just poking fun at her.
"I have selected some of the guards I trust, they will escort you to the small village around. Please, don't do something stupid." Maryline keeps insisting.
"We won't Madame." she bows severally. "You have to trust me, Maryline." with this said I pull Matilda out of the corridor to the compound. "Thank you!" she breathes heavily.
"Relax, girl... You don't have to freaks any time you see her. Maryline is a very kind woman, she can't even harm a fly." I try to convenience her. "With you, sure, but not with a poor denizen like me." she puffs.
"My queen" all five guards bow at once as we step out. "Finally, something interesting." Matilda smiled broadly like a fool. She's a fool I mean. I simply nod my head.
"Can we leave my Queen?" he asks. "I minutes, please." I rush in peeping left and right. I grab a bag, pour all the hard food found on the dining table. I wish I had something to put all this beverage in. I rush out.
One of the guards helps me with the bag. "Now, we can leave!" I smile. "Wow, you were fast," she exclaims "And I must admit so far I'm impressed," she adds. "It's just the beginning." I brag.
"No modesty, eh?" she laughs, I keep boasting.
"Your Horse, my Queen." they help me claim the horse. "What is this for?" I scold as he lifts a scarf to cover my face. "Sorry, my queen but Maryline gave us strict instructions.
"Fuck! Instead, this will call for attention. A lady covering her face with a scarf on a Royal horse, who on earth will not want to see her face. K do you all think?" I hit my face in dismal.
"I'm sorry my queen but this is the condition for use to step out of here," he repeats and it sucks. "You are clearly not sorry!" I seize the scarf from his hands "Let's go." I pout as I cover my face.
Matilda is already on her horse observing "You look good with it. Though I can only see your eyes." she taunts. "It's not funny." I smirk but she keeps laughing.
"You caused it!" I whack her horse with my leg. The horse screams then gallop with speed "Help, I don't want to die..." she screams the hell out of her and I laugh in return.
This scarf is very irritating. I guess it's the price to pay for some few seconds of liberty. Maryline, You are evil!.
The patrols standing at the gate bow as we step out without even seeing my face as if an announcement was made that the Queen will step out so when it's time to open the gate just bows whether it's the Queen or not.
Anyway, what matters is that I'm outside now and I'm going to correct all these mistakes. Rather injustice.
Matilda and I step out on horses while the guard trek on their feet very close to us.
After we walk for some time I order the guards to stop. I see a few houses not far from where we are. They help us step down from the horses.
"I have a little mission. You remain here and watch over the horse, feed them and give them water if necessary. The four of you follow me with the bag."
"My queen, Maryline said that..." "Enough of that I'm here to have a little fun and no one will stop me not even Maryline. Just follow me or you can stay here and look over the horses." with this said I move ahead and they all follow me.
"Well, said," Matilda whispers in my ears "But I still think this idea is crazy," she adds.
"Just Pray for me!" I tell her as we stop in front of the first house. I knock on the door. A miserable woman opens the door and a rotten egg smell follows her as she steps out. OMG, I can't help but cover my nose.
Everyone covered their noise "She will feel insulted." Matilda pulls my hand off my nose "I know it's not easy." she whispers. Indeed it isn't. I feel nauseated already.
The woman has a baby in her arms and both shivering. "Please, I have no money again, some fellows already passed and I gave them all I had, please don't brutalise us, please," she cries. She looks so hungry and cranky and it's so pathetic that I want to cry.
"I'm not here to harm you madam. Instead I'm here to sympathise in your pains. I'm your queen, Eve and I'm here to put joy on your face." she immediately wipes her tears and she bows "My queen." my scarf is off already.
I turn to the guard and search the bag that he's holding. I remove a full roasted chicken, what my hand fell on. Matilda cuts a piece of cloth "I have this little gift for you. I will do more next time." I hand it over to her.
"Thank you very much, my queen. I'm highly honoured to have you here. I would have loved to invite you in but it's a mess in there. Perhaps next time."
"It's fine, I have other houses to visit. Have a nice day." "Thank you my queen." she hurries inside and lock the door behind her as we move away.
"Avoid making promises that you won't keep," Matilda whispers to me. "I didn't make any."
"I will do more next time, is what to you if not a promise. You're not sure if there will be next time, let's hope to survive to this first one before making long term plans."
"Don't be dramatic Matilda. Everything is going on well nothing will and nothing bad happen to us. More to this I'm not even sure the old woman heed what I said she was so anxious."
"Trust me she did. If she didn't, she will after eating that delicious chicken you gave her" she affirms as if she knows. "Okay, fine I will mind my words next time." I accept just to end up the argument.
The second woman and her family welcome us well. After that continue knocking on a few doors and the responses are all positive. I'm really excited and the fear of rejection deep diminishing. Now, am more comfortable.
"This is the 17th door," Matilda exclaims happily as I knock on the door. She's more confident now. "Who the hell is it." a huge voice screams from inside.
"Please, open your door." she helps me scream. The the door opens, a fat average high man pulls his heavy self out. His belly is big and he only has a trouser on "What do you want little, girl."
"I'm Queen Eve, I'm on a courtesy visit to familiarise myself with my people." I smile. "Go to hell, bitch!" he bangs his door at my face. Wow!
"It could be worse!. I think we should stop here for the day. The bag is empty only a small piece of bread is left." she suggests.
"Why don't we try that house there?" I point. "It's isolated and it looks abandoned, Eve. I think it's a bad idea. We should stop here and call it a day."
