After about two days on the road, we finally arrive at the Solis Kingdom. We notice a crowd as we slowly approach the palace's gate. "Our queen is back!. Long live the Queen!. Long live the future king of the solis kingdom!" the crowd scream.
It's like the the whole kingdom has come to welcome me back and this is so heartwarming that it feels like an achievement.
Just a few weeks ago they didn't know about my existence. But now, they are all gathered here, for me.
I guess they are here mainly because of the announcement of the wedding that was made, surely they hope to get some food and drinks for free.
We simply bypass them and enter the palace and the gate is immediately closed. We unmount our horses. Adams helps me down with a grin on the face saying "My queen." I simply smile back. Aww, he's so cute.
While the king is mad, "Why do they keep mentioning her name, calling her Queen?. I thought no one knew about her?" he angrily whispers to Edmonton.
"Everything is set as you asked, the wedding will take place tomorrow." Maryline steps out and meets us in the compound. She's so happy to see me and it's written all over her face. "Good Maryline." the king says.
"Unfortunately, Maryline you have to pause everything till further notice, Adams and I haven't fixed a date yet and he has somethings to attend to, so he will be leaving tomorrow, - as well as his father the king." I look at the king with a persuasive stare.
"I guess the people of your kingdom are missing their king." I add with my eyes fixed at him which is clearly saying 'get the hell out of my kingdom.'
Edmonton and Maryline are simply astonished by my boldness that it renders them speechless. Adams watches me with an emotionless look which is hard to infer but I'm sure he's also proud of me.
While the king is, "How dare you speak when I speak?. Marilyn, you should teach some manners to this little insignificant moron. Next time when I speak, you shut the hell up! And always keep in mind that you are only a grain of sand in an ocean." he slowly approaches me with his terrific countenance as he speaks and every part of me is quivering.
He twirls to Adams warning "And for you Adams, you aren't going anywhere. You will stay here and this marriage will hold, period!" with this said he moves.
"Why shouldn't I speak?. Why shouldn't I decide what I want for myself by myself?. Who are you?. Oh, let me think,- nobody!." I say sarcastically while moving towards him.
"You are not the king of this Kingdom so you don't come here and impose your opinion on me. Till further notice, I'm the Queen and the only heir to this kingdom and I want each and every one of you to respect that, especially when you are on my territory." I swallow my fear and I speak up without taking a break. Though it isn't easy to be this bold with his frantic look fix on me.
"Young girl, you are overstepping your bounds, so choose your choice of words carefully. And I will advise you not to get too close to me when you speak this nonsense before I do something which I might regret later." he partially shifts into his wolf and I swallow my spit in a gulp.
His wolf keeps popping out, as he craves to get rid of me yet he battles so hard to comprise his wolf. I watch him with my heart in my belly.
"You will marry my son tomorrow, you will make him the king of this kingdom otherwise, you leave me no other choice." he adds as he tightly clenches his fists.
"I won't and it's final. I will like you to leave this kingdom by tomorrow morning before the first cockcrow and never come back unless you are invited. It's clear that your impression about me will never change so it's better you stay far away from me." I can feel my sweat glands in action.
"Keep playing with fire, sooner or later you will burn yourself. I just hope you will be alive after that, to learn from your mistake." with this said he retires to his room.
"What about the crowd waiting out?" Edmonton follows the king asking. "Give me some time to freshen up, I will give a speech in a few minutes."
I move away as well "Where are you going to?" Maryline wonders aloud. She has not yet given me a welcome hug. "Follow me," I tell her.
I move to the tower of the gate. I ask the guards to place a woody stage for me to stand on so that the crowd can my face see me from outside.
"People of the solis Kingdom, is your Queen talking. Your queen is back. Not only back but ready." Eve, scream and the crowd scream louder and louder that this calls for The King and Edmonton's attention. They were in an office conversing.
They rush out to check what is going on. They find Adams standing in the compound with his eyes up. They follow his stare and they see me at the top of the tower.
"I am Eve Elite Edward Jone the only child to late King Edward Jone, the only legitimate queen and heir to this kingdom. I'm here to thank you all for the warm welcome, it's so heartwarming to have you all here today. I know nearly all of you don't know me and have never seen me, but I will change this. As of today my people you aren't alone anymore. So with this effect, I shall rule over my father's heritage until I get married."
"What the hell is going on?. Edmonton why don't you climb up there to stop her?. Why the hell will she make such declarations in public, without consulting us. Haven't you reminded her that she has to stay in the dark... Stop her before she gets favor from the public" the king pushes Edmonton.
"Why does she have to ask your opinion before talking to the people of her kingdom?. OMG, how did I get into the middle of this mess!" Adams scold his father.
"I think it's too late already, the public seems to love her more than I could ever think!" Edmonton, sadly exclaims.
"I know many will say; you are young, you are a woman, you can't do this or that, I'm aware of all these condemnation about my gender. This is why in a few days from now the date of my wedding shall be announce. A wedding with a man that I will choose, a man that I know will serve the interests of the people and not his selfish interest. All this is because I love the people of my kingdom. However, until then I will rule over this kingdom and I will like to get the respect that I deserve."
"Eve!" Edmonton cries as Eve speaks, unfortunately, she can't get him from where she is standing. He can't stop thinking of all the atrocities that king Demons is reserving for her.
"I have been having this question roaming my mind. Edmonton on which side are you?. Are you for or against your niece?" Adams asks in disdain.
"This is all I have to say for now. More will be communicated to you as time passes by. Unfortunately, I have to retire to my apartment to have some rest." I step down the tower.
Walking down, my stare meets that of Adams. He walks away without waiting for me and this gets me worried. From his countenance, it's hard to infer his impression and this makes me more worried. I was expecting him to stay and cheer me up.
"What the hell was that?" the king welcomes me and his voice brutally snatches me off my thoughts. "Oh, you are still in my kingdom?" I slur. "Hmmm..." he grinds his teeth and walks away.
"Eve, why did you do that. I told you to follow my instructions; to do only what I tell you so as to avoid unnecessary quarrels and fights. Know that king Demons is someone we better not have as an enemy." he severely warn and seriously, I don't care so much about what he's saying right now. I just want him to finish scolding so that I can go in search of Adams.
"See how you are making a fuse out of it. This is exactly why I didn't tell you before doing it and more to that, I didn't plan anything it just popped up in my mind and I feel it was the right thing to do." I smirk.
"Now you have cause alot of problems which I have to solve. Stick to what I tell you, this is politics and not a playing ground so you need to be smart, think before you act." with this said he leaves, angrily.
And I simply say to myself "Finally!" finally I can go in search of Adams, I need to understand why he left.
"My girl, I don't know what they did to you in the Aqua kingdom, but it has changed you, and I hope it's for the better. Brave, is how you were up there and I enjoyed your speech, my baby. I'm Eve Jones the heir of this kingdom... Olla girls power on flicks." Maryline raise her right fist to the sky, supper excited. She even imitated me and her imitation is disastrous.
"OMG, Maryline don't tell me that this is how I was speaking?!" I cry. It's not real I'm just faking it and laughing at the same time.
Suddenly, Maryline stops laughing and she gets serious. I simply cry deep down me and I give up on going to search for Adams because Maryline is in her Advising mode and this can last for an hour(s).
"Eve, what you did today was good and very amazing, but know that you have caused a lot of trouble for yourself. Know that your acts will have consequences." her words scares me and I start regretting why I ever ascended that tower.
"You practically declare yourself as ruler, know that this kingdom has small rural rulers under the king who can't decide over anything that concerns the kingdom in general, but who can contest your verdict to rule until you find a spouse. Having a woman as ruler is not a possibility in our world. Not forgetting the king who is certainly mad at you. You have to fear king Demons more than what you think... He can be very cruel..." Maryline explains I have no other choice than to listen to her carefully. She is the only person who always tells me the truth.
"Maryline you are scaring me." I freak out. "Unfortunately words can't even explain what is awaiting. Don't worry you aren't alone, I will teach you a few things I know. I hope it helps." she wrapped her arm around mine and I lean on her shoulders in discomfort.
"You are too weak that at the times I ask myself if you are my son. Andrew is more authoritative than you are, unfortunately, he had to be a bastard but I'm sure he would have been better than you." the king slur Adams.
"I don't give a fuck about how Andrew is or how you see me. You know what,- it's not too late, you can still call him to come and take over from where I've ended. Perhaps I will finally have some rest." he jeers.
"Don't be pathetic, you will finish what you have started. I'm reserving something else for Andrew. I'm just angrier that, that little brat is smarter than you are. She act more like my daughter than you. To cut all this short, you need to take the control before it gets to late. You are the man for crying out loud, act as one" the king lower his voice to persuade Adams and he succeeds in making him thoughtful.
"Dad, I'm not in the mood. I'm not interested in all your games, I told you earlier. Also, that wedding won't hold tomorrow. I have things to attend to in the human world, my wealth there is a stake."
"You are very foolish. Get the hell out of this room." the king yells.
