Chapter 41: Chapter 41
• • • • Eve's POV • • • •
After Adam had laid down for a while after his injuries were treated, we left for the camp. By then Kidron was still unconscious. I didn't get the chance to tell him goodbye, as I didn't have the luxury of time to wait for him to gain consciousnesses. Elgin as wll, - I will miss her.
~ ~ At the camp ~ ~
When we arrive the camp, everyone is exhausted, Adams can barely move straight.
"You need to rest." I whisper as I help him unmount his horse, since he can't do it alone "Its ok. I'm ok!" but he flinches when I want to support him then he moves alone. Tugging his body like a fat heavy piece of wood that it's so pathetic to watch.
"This is ridiculous. This girl makes you weak Adams. Now, I'm regretting why I asked you to marry her. You're not more the Adams I used to know; adventurous, brave and not merciful." his father rapidly unmounts his horse.
Angrily, he meets us halfway, yelling. He even halting us from moving further and it's very embarrassing for me as well as for Adams.
"Luckily I already sent some messengers to Maryline to organise a big celebration for your marriage which is going to take place as soon as we reach. This was supposed to be celebrated alongside your victory but you decided to mess up. At least, - I won't lose both..." he grind his teeth nervously.
"How could you do such a thing without our permission?" Adam scowls. "Luckily I did. Is that the thank you, I get? - Luckily I did." he retires to the but.
"Adams, I don't know how, but tell your father that I won't marry you when we reach. I don't know how he's going to take it but I can't. He's not my father and I don't even know why I have to follow any of his instructions in the first place." I turn to leave, I stop thoughtfully then I move back to Adams.
"Darling, don't get it twisted, I want to marry you, but I will marry according to my terms. I'm tired of being used and being insignificant." I kiss him on the lips. "I think you need to talk to your father now." with this said, I move away.
He widens his stares fascinated by Eve's bravery and this simply makes him desire her more so making him horny. However, this wasn't Eve's aim. She simply wanted to impose herself like "Eve's life matters!".
He watches her move until she disappears then he hurries to meet his father in his hut. He takes a death breath before he finally gets in.
"Dad! Henceforth no matter what your opinions is, makes sure you keep it to yourself. Also, you won't follow Eve and I to the Solis kingdom. We will separate midway and you will quietly return to your kingdom." he takes a seat, as he boldly explains.
"Did she ask you to tell me this?, no don't reply because I don't care. I'm following you all to the Solis kingdom. I came here with my warriors to rescue her and support you, so the least she can, or you can do is to show me gratitude. I think I made a mistake by allowing Edmonton to give her freedom because she clearly doesn't deserve it." he frowns so tightly that he clenches his fists.
"Wow, so it's never your fault. It's always someone else's fault but never yours, have you forgotten the reason behind all what is happening here?." he yells the hell out of him with veins carving over his neck then he suddenly stops.
He takes a deep breath to calm down then he continues to speak.
"Anyway, she asked me to tell you a whole lot of things but not what I just told you because I will prefer she tells you all what she has in her mind to your face. Perhaps her words will stick into your hard skull." he strikes the table he can't help but express his anger.
"Lower your voice when you talk to me. I'm your father and your king," he orders.
"You disgust me. You killed my mother, your wife, cold-bloodedly. You told me she died during the fight but you omitted the part in which you Pierced her with your sword and she was pregnant for crying out loud. So you have no mercy?. What kind of a man are you?" He speaks with hatred.
"The kind of man who loves to win no matter what, the kind who first for and earns his respect. What do you think keeps Is my reputation intact?. Do you think is with acts of compassion and forgiveness?. There are no such things in my vocabulary, I act, and react!" he yells, striking the table harder than Adams did...
"You can judge me for all I care but trust me, your mum betrayed me in such a brutal way. I couldn't let her go and allowing that child live to see the daylight. Unfortunately, as I can see, I failed. Yet, you had the opportunity to remediate things for me but you screwed at the last minute. Shit! I don't think I will ever forgive you for that."
"Wow, wow, my king. Talking with you is pointless your so stereotype and heartless. And what pains me more is that you don't even realise it anymore." Adam moves out of the hut, hurt and very disappointed by his father.
"Your heart will take you nowhere son, think with your head." he shouts sarcastically. He has no remorse and this scatters Adam.
"We are leaving early tomorrow morning," Adam stops at the middle of the camp and he announces then he moves into our hut.
"Did you talk to him?. What did he say?" I eager rushes to Adams as soon as he gets in. "Can I get some fucken peace?" he yells, recklessly and he lays on the carpet which is laid on the floor."
I'm still shivering, he's the voice was damn scaring. I walk out of the hut furiously. He doesn't even follow me to say sorry. This makes me angrier.
I move away not far from the camp to a near forest. I sit there in the hot air since sun is still shinny. I wish there was a river here were I could soak my toes in. Anyway, I still enjoy the peace this place bestows in me. Thus I start to miss Elgin sooner than I expected.
"How are you, my beautiful, little princess?" Edmonton joins me. "I'm not more little as I used to be, not more a princess this is the past. Now, I'm a queen. A big queen." I smirk with emphasis and all I get as reply is a smile. Is he mocking me or what?.
"I hope they weren't too hard on you?." he takes a seat on the ground just by me. "At first yes; I was locked in a cage with no food, no drink. Then later, things changed for the better." I crinkle my lips.
"I'm so sorry about that. I wish I could have saved you earlier or simply help." his face filled up with guilt. "You can still help, it's never to late, remember." I hold his hand tight with a saden stare fixed at him. Hope I succeed to persuade with my innocent stare.
"Tell me how?" he eagerly faces me.
"I know I have to marry Adams and I will, but I want everything to be done according to me Uncle. I'm the Queen of the Solis clan in the absence of my father. Then why am I being treated like a slave, like I don't have a word to say meanwhile everything belongs to me. I want to be respected and I want you to help me earn my respect in front of Adams, his father and the people of my kingdom." I emphasise on saying my kingdom. I want it to stick into my head, my mind and soul. Henceforth I want and I will fight for everything that is mine.
He remains speechless, taking a deep breath "Eve, I understand you but all this is complicated."
"Why is it complicated?. Tell me why?. Talk to me I want to understand why and how. We can always find a solution. I need to be respected, I'm tired!" I whimper.
"It's a very long story which I will narrate to you as soon as we reach the kingdom with prove." he hurries up and leaves as if I said something wrong. His confused expression worries me still I remain in the forest to get some fresh air.
"The little girl is already asking too many questions and I don't know what to tell her. I don't know what to do?" Edmonton nervously rushes into King Demons hut.
"Is this why you are panicking like an old woman?. She's just a child and there is nothing we have to fear about because you will handle her like you have always done. Tell her what she wants to hear and make sure she gets married to Adams as soon as possible then leave all the rest to me." he retorts recklessly.
"I don't think I can hold her anymore more. I'm tired of laying to her, you need to be fast. I mean Adams has to convince her to marry him as soon as we arrive." he bit his lower lips in anxiety.
"Adams is too weak, he can't but you can do it. Talk to her, she listens to you. I don't care if you have to lie or not, just do it." he frowns.
"What will happen to her after the marriage?" Edmonton boldly asks with his heart in his stomach.
"Oh! Now you suddenly care about he?" he retorts sarcastically. "I have and I will always care about her and always remember this. Don't forget you promised me never to harm her, not even a single hair from her head. I hope you stick to your words." he warms but this doesn't even move the king, not for an atom of a second.
"What happens to her after the marriage is none of your business. And you said it yourself, I promised never to harm her so I guess you have your answer. Now get the hell out of my hut, I need to be alone." he waves him out and he leaves immediately.
Edmonton starts having second thoughts about his agreement with King Demons. Something doesn't feel right. So he walks back to Eve who is still sitted in the forest.
"I will help you." he rushes closer to her "but we have to be very discrete and you have to follow all that I tell you," he whispers peeping left and right like a thief.
"Thank you very much, uncle Edmonton. I know you will never let me down." I hug him.
.
.
"Eve!" After several hours of sleep, Kidron quivers out of his sleep calling Eve as if he had a bad nightmare. He struggles to get out of his sickbed but the guard standing by him stops him "My prince you are very weak to move."
"I have to get out of here. I have to see Eve." he insists, he barely lifts his body from bed when the fierce pain from his back draws him back to rest in bed.
"My prince you can't move!" the guard exclaims louder this time. "Fine, fine. Get me the princess, princess Eve," he asks confidently.
"Sorry my prince, but the hostage princess already left the palace with her people." he explains.
Kidron silently shuts his eyes in pain.
"Do you need anything, my prince?". "No!. Leave me alone." he orders as the guards voice simply irritates him. The guard immediately turns to leaves.
"No, come back!. Get me a horse ready for this evening and don't tell anyone about this, not even the king."
"My King you can't mount a horse in this state." he tries to dissuade Kidron in vain.
"Do what I tell you and shut the fuck up!. Get out of this room." he yells.
