Chapter 61: Chapter 61

Constance point of view:

Kevin has already taken all the family's properties including my husband's. He made me tell the public that my husband left the property in my hand but I let him, Kevin, take care of my husband's business until I'm ready to take over. He, his mother and his wife are now enjoying my husband's fortune but I will make them pay one day.

Darren and Kevin must think that they have won but they won't know what will hit them very soon. I have already put my plan in action. I'm pretending to love Darren and the fool is believing me. He's so obsessed with me that he didn't even know that I'm pretending to love him. He didn't think that it's suspicious for a girl that never loves him to start loving him after losing her husband whom she loves so much in his hands. He agreed about not consummating the marriage until I'm ready. I'm happy he did, this will buy me some time.

I'm seated in the coffee shop with Jocelyn who is staring suspiciously at me. Of course, she saw the news about me allowing Kevin to take care of my husband's business. The same Kevin that is the suspect of my grandfather's accident. Jocelyn is clever, she knows that something is wrong. Something made me take that decision and she's here to force the truth out of my mouth.

Even though I lied to Ryan's mother when she asked me why I made such a decision, I know that I can't lie to Jocelyn. She already knows that I don't like Kevin and won't willingly give him my husband's company to handle.

The day I spoke to Ryan's mother about the decision I took, Kevin was there. The bastard was giving me deadly glares and even if I want to tell Ryan's mother the truth, I don't know if I can do it anymore with those deadly and intimidating glares but if I'm actually ready to tell her I will definitely not mind the glares.

Melinda and Kevin's mother were scorning me. I'm sure they knew what Kevin did and supported him. Now they have everything, my husband's money, the family's money and I will surely make them pay in the end.

“Constance, I'm sure you know why I called you here, now start speaking. What the fuck was that? Why did you allow Kevin to take care of your husband's company? Kevin is the same suspect over Mr. Williams accident. Even though my mother and my brother didn't know about that fact, they were still shocked to know that you allowed Kevin to take care of your husband's company. They both know that you and your husband are not on good terms with Kevin. So tell me Constance, what's going on?" She asked curiously.

I took a deep breath. I have only met Jocelyn once after she was released by Darren. I'm glad that she's fine, they didn't hurt her. Jocelyn was confused about the kidnaping stuff. She said that she was kidnapped on her way back to the beach house after buying the food and other necessary things. Her eyes were tied throughout her stay wherever the kidnappers took her. She was in total darkness until she woke up in her room.

Everything seemed surreal to her. The kidnappers didn't hurt her, they didn't demand for ransom. I couldn't tell her why it was so but I'm going to do it now.

“Constance?" Her voice got me out of my thoughts. I took another deep breath before I started telling her everything. I told her everything without missing a part. Starting from the time Darren came to the beach house, her kidnapping, my husband's death, grandfather's accident, the way Kevin and Darren kidnapped him and threatened me with it. They made me sign all my husband's properties to them and Darren forced me to marry him.

“What!" Jocelyn exclaimed in shock after my short story. Her eyes are wide as saucers, I'm sure she's finding it so hard to believe what I told her.

“You are married to Darren…. He killed Jace…. That bastard! Darren is a monster! I can't believe I was once friends with a man like him. Oh! No Constance, what are we going to do? Darren and Kevin definitely need to pay."

“Yes Jocelyn and like I told you, they have my grandfather in their custody. We need to be careful with every one of our plans."

“Shit! They are so clever but we still need to gather evidence against them and then come up with a good plan that will make them release your grandfather," Jocelyn said as she got into a thinking mode, probably trying to figure out a good plan that we are going to hatch.

“I have a very good plan." Jocelyn looked up curiously at me. “I'm already pretending to love Darren to gain his trust. Darren listens to everything I say, one day I will take it to my advantage."

“That's a very good plan but you need to be careful my dear friend. Darren is not the same Darren we know. He's a monster, he might hurt you." I can see the concern in Jocelyn's eyes.

“I know Joce, I will be very careful. I will not stop nor give up until I make Darren and Kevin pay for all they did." There's a clear determination in my voice

“And I will support you. We are in this together." Jocelyn gently took my hand as she rubbed it smoothly, smiling at me. Her smile is weary just like mine. We are both trying to hide our pains through that smile but for us to win this battle, we must be strong. I don't know what good I've done to deserve a good friend like Jocelyn. I don't know what I will do if she's not here with me in these hard days of my life.

After my discussion with Jocelyn. She asked me about how I'm faring with my pregnancy. I told her I'm doing well. Jocelyn already knows about my pregnancy. She was in the hospital with me when the doctor announced it.

After I told her my plans, she told me to be careful and not let Darren find out about my pregnancy. I told her I will. I believe that before my baby's bump comes out, we must have found a way to make Darren and Kevin pay for what they did. We drew our plan and tonight I will start with the first part. I got the documents ready as I joined Darren in the bed. I give him a kiss on the cheek. He smiled like a fool and wanted to kiss my cheeks but I stopped him with a fake smile, I pretended to be shy as I took my face away.

And then I started my fake drama, I began crying.

“Sweetheart," he called in the most gentle tone as he used his thumb to push my chin so that I would stare at him. “What is wrong, why are you crying?"

I didn't speak. I hugged him and was crying profusely. He allowed me to stay in his embrace until I broke the hug. He stared into my red and swollen eyes, I can see that he's hurt seeing me this way.

“Sweetheart, why are you crying? please tell me." He cupped my cheeks and made me stare into his eyes. I don't like being so close to him, it makes my blood boil but I did my best to calm myself down. If I want to get what I want, I must learn how to control my anger.

“Darren, I've already accepted you as my husband and I'm ready to start a new life with you but one thing breaks my heart"… I paused and started sobbing.

“Sweetheart, no, please don't cry. I don't like seeing you cry." He started wiping my tears. “Tell me, what's making you cry?"

“Please, Darren. I want my husband's company back. I mean, my ex husband. We can't let Kevin take everything. He already has the family's company, so we can't let him take Jace's company too," I said. Praying silently that Darren will fall into my plan.

“Sweetheart, don't worry about Jace's company. I have enough money to take care of you. I will inherit my family's company and very soon we will be returning back to London. I will introduce you to my family and we are going to settle there."

I gulped down but put on a fake smile to make him believe that I like his idea. I need an excuse to give him. I will never go to London with him. If I leave this country, I won't be able to achieve my plan. Luckily an idea came into my head, this will definitely be a good plan to escape going to London with him.

“Darren." I gave him the brightest smile that didn't come from my heart. I can see how that fake smile worked on him because he's also smiling at me. “I really want to go to London with you. I miss London but what about my education? School will resume very soon. Before we relocate to London, why don't I conclude my education first."

Silence crept in and I was anxious.

“Okay, once you graduate, we will relocate to London but until then, we will find a good day to visit London so that you will see my parents," He said. I give off a fake smile. Before we visit London. I believe that I will have the time to achieve my plan.

“I can't wait to meet your family. But before then, please make Kevin give me Jace's company. Please, make him sign this document." I showed him the document. He hesitated before taking it. I looked into his eyes to know if he had any doubt about me but I couldn't see any. I smile inwardly, I'm close to achieving my first plan.

The next day, I called Jocelyn and told her how our plan is close to being achieved. She was happy. We hired another private investigator to trail Darren and Kevin since they killed the one my husband hired. We really want to find out where they are hiding my grandfather. It will make our plan easier if we find out where they are hiding him.

Even though I want to be strong and focus on my plan, I still can't stop thinking about my husband. I went to the beach house today and wallowed in my pain. I don't think I will ever get over my husband. I love him so much. I promised him to avenge his death and I will definitely do it.

When I returned to Darren's apartment, I was weak. I dragged my feet into the bathroom. I felt alive when the warm water ran through my skin. I'm sure that Darren must have made Kevin sign those documents. I can't wait for him to give me the good news.

After staying under the shower for some while, I stepped out. I was about grabbing my towel when the door flipped open and Darren walked in, his eyes ran lustfully on my nakedness. I gulped down in fear. Darren looks dangerous right now. He looks like someone who can't be stopped from getting what he wants.
