Chapter 57: Chapter 57
“Who's the culprit?" Constance was eager to know. She wants to know the wicked human being that tried to kill an innocent old man.
“He doesn't have any evidence and he's not sure yet but he said that it's Kevin." Jace said Kevin's name with gritted teeth. Among all his family's members, he suspects Kevin to have something to do with their grandfather's accident. Ryan had not been interested in the family business. Kevin had always been the greedy one. Since their Grandfather had said that he will be the next CEO of the family's company, Kevin is definitely not pleased with it. Maybe he thought that if their grandfather dies, that he will be able to take the family's company. He must be a fool to think that way. Jace swore that if it turns out that Kevin has anything to do with their grandfather's accident, he will never spare him.
“What!" The shocked Constance exclaimed. When her husband hired the private investigator to investigate all the family members, Constance had doubted that any of them would have a hand in Mr. Williams' accident. But still, none of them has ever cared for Mr. Williams since he was admitted in this hospital. That thought made Constance think twice. One of them must have something to do with it since they all felt less concern about his situation. Even at that, she still had doubted they could try killing Mr. Williams but now, she's more shocked than ever.
She can't believe that Kevin will have the heart to kill his grandfather. Her husband said that the private investigator is not sure yet but if it turns out to be true, that means that Kevin is nothing but a monster.
Hannah had told her in the past how Kevin and his wife, also his mother, are all greedy for the family's wealth. They wanted it all to themselves. Constance can't believe that he went to the level of killing his grandfather because of the family's company.
At the back of Constance's mind, she actually hopes that Kevin is not the culprit. She's not thinking that way for anything else but because of Mr. Williams. That poor old man won't be able to take the pain if it turns out that his own grandson wants him dead.
“I swear, if Kevin has anything to do with this, I will kill him." Jace was trying to control his anger. Kevin had gone too far. What the hell was he thinking of wanting to kill their grandfather? “In fact, I'm going to him now. I don't want to wait for my private investigator to find evidence that will lead to him. I am going to beat him until I force the truth out of his mouth."
Jace stood up to leave the room as anger was washing through him but Constance quickly stood up and blocked his path.
“No honey, I'm sure that no matter how you beat him he won't ever confess that he has something to do with grandfather's accident. If you go fight him, he will surely fight back and you two will hurt yourselves in the process. Also, he will have a clue that you have found out that he has something to do with grandfather's accident and then he will start trying his best to hide all possible evidence that will lead to him. Let's keep him in the dark, while we find the evidence. Believe me, I also want him to pay if he also has a hand in this. Anybody, whosoever he is that tried to kill grandfather will pay for it."
Constance's words were able to calm Jace. His wife has a point. They need to keep Kevin in the dark until they find all the evidence they need.
Jace dialed the number of his private investigator and he picked up on the first ring.
“Be fast with gathering evidence against Kevin. I'm sure that he's the one that wants to kill my grandfather, I can't think of anyone else," Jace said through the phone.
“Yes sir," the private investigator replied. Jace nodded and cut the call. He turned to his wife and drew her closer to himself. He's angry right now and the only person he needs at this moment is his wife, only her could calm his anger.
Constance smiles and wraps her arms around his waist as she hugs him tight. Even though Jace found it a little saddening that Kevin could try to kill their grandfather. He reminded himself that the bastard is just like his father. Kevin's greedy father killed Jace's parents in the past so his son must have learned from him.
….
“We need to do something," Kevin said restlessly, pacing through and fro in the small office room.
He's damn nervous and scared. Jace is so into this case. He's doing everything he can to find out who tried to kill their grandfather. Kevin is scared that Jace might end up finding something that will implicate him. Jace is so clever, if he allowed him to go deep into this case without stopping him, he will definitely find evidence that will lead to him. If he does, all his hard work will be in vain.
Kevin knows that trying to kill his grandfather is a wicked act but his grandfather was the one that brought it upon himself. He had been working relentlessly for that company, trying to earn his grandfather's trust in giving the company to him but that old man discarded him and chose Jace. He had always favored Jace, he didn't think about his other grandchildren. And now, he wants Jace to be the CEO of the family's company. He's older than Jace, he is supposed to be the CEO and Jace the vice president and not the other way round. That old man is a selfish person and deserves to die. He doesn't regret trying to kill him. What he regrets is that even after tampering with the brakes, he still survived.
Kevin turned to the man who's in the room with him. He seemed so unperturbed. Well, why won't he? He doesn't have a hand with this and if Kevin gets caught, the young man won't be implicated.
“I told you not to go for that stupid plan of yours but you didn't listen."
Kevin had hated this young man's gut but was putting up with him because they need to work together to achieve what they want. But at this moment, he thinks the young man is correct. The young man had said that the person whom they needed to get rid of so that they will have everything they want is Jace. If Jace is alive, it will be a great obstacle for them to get what they want but he didn't listen and still went for his own plan and now he's in trouble. If Jace gets any evidence, he's doomed.
Yes, Jace needed to die so that he will have the family's company and everything but that cock headed man is so hard to kill. He met this young man two months ago and it turns out that he also wants Jace to die so that he will get what he wants. They both had been plotting so many plans against Jace but it all failed. Jace just refused to fall into their plan.
Kevin hopes that they will get a better plan this time because this is the most crucial time to kill him. He's the only one that cares so much about their grandfather's accident. Ryan doesn't care a bit. He also doesn't care about the family's company so he has nothing to worry about Ryan. The dude had been wasting himself ever since his fiance left him. So funny, wasn't he the one that had always treated the girl badly. If he loves her, he shouldn't have been an asshole.
“Are you not going to help me at all!" Kevin snapped at the young man who raised his brows, a little bit confused. How can he help him when he's the one that brought himself into that mess. Well, he actually has good news and it's going to work.
“I have a good plan to get rid of Jace. Believe me it will work this time."
Kevin quickly looks at him in curiosity.
…
Constance's point of view:
That night I called Hannah and told her what happened to grandfather and as expected, Hannah cried through the phone. I told her not to worry because the doctor said that grandfather has a chance of surviving.
Of course, I didn't tell Hannah that it's just a ten percent chance. I didn't want her to worry too much. I believe that grandfather will survive, nothing will happen to him because he's a good man.
After taking my bath and putting on my night robe, I joined my husband in the bed. He's sitting, while his back rested on the headboard and he's on the phone. He doesn't seem happy with the phone call. I snuggled close to him while he wrapped his arm around me.
After answering the call, he kissed my hair. I smile and look up at him to ask him a question. I didn't expect him to kiss my lips but he did and I welcomed it for the few seconds it lasted. His anger had subsided a little but I know he will still tear Kevin apart if he lays his eyes on him. Lucky enough, we are not in the family's mansion but in his beach house. We had not returned to the mansion ever since grandfather had the accident.
“You look angry with the call you answered just now, is something the matter?" I asked.
“Nothing much, just that I want to cancel the business trip I made before grandfather had the accident. I need to be around and make sure my private investigator gathered the evidence we need on Kevin so that he will pay for what he did."
“Honey, if the business trip is important. Then you should go. I am here and the private investigator will also give you updates through the phone."
“I really don't want to go, baby. It's a whole three day trip and I don't want to leave you nor grandfather."
“Honey, three days is not much. Is for your business. Don't worry, I will take care of myself and also take care of grandfather." I chip in and peck his lips.
