Chapter 46: Chapter 46

Jace regretted treating his wife the way he did with her at his grandfather's birthday party. That was the same girl that put her life at risk to save him. She only wanted to treat his wound but he shouted at her and said hurtful words to her. He never wanted to shout at her, he was just burning in anger at that moment.

And he was such a coward. He stayed away from home for three weeks instead of going home and asking her for forgiveness because she deserves it. But his pride wouldn't let him. Instead he stayed in his beach house.

What Kevin said that day was what infuriated him but he shouldn't have taken his anger out on his wife. His wife was innocent and was only worried about him.

In these past three weeks, Jace was able to understand that no matter what he did. He can't stop loving his wife.

Yes, he never wanted to fall in love. He prevented himself from doing so because he promised Natasha that he would only love her. After Natasha's death, he couldn't fall in love. He couldn't find a woman that he will love the way he loves Natasha and he doesn't even want to find such a woman because he blamed himself for Natasha's death and therefore will never fall in love. His punishment for being the cause of Natasha's death is to stay all his life without falling in love with any woman, to stay all his life alone without witnessing what love is again.

But ever since he married Constance, things drastically changed. He tried his best to do away with the feelings but it kept getting hard on him on each passing day and right now, it has completely taken over him.

The only person in his mind, in his soul is his wife. He couldn't stop thinking about her. He couldn't stop his love for her and right now, he doesn't want to hold himself back anymore. He's tired of being jealous seeing her with someone else or trying to kill the love which has rekindled in his heart.

For these past three weeks, he always sees his wife with Darren and that made him more and more jealous. It was one of the reasons he wanted to stop being a coward and confess his love for his wife… he can't hold back his feelings any longer. It has gotten the better hold of him and the more he stays away from her without telling her how he feels, the more he feels as if he's losing his mind.

He planned on confessing his feelings for her at her birthday party. He bought a nice gift for her. He decided to ask for her forgiveness first before confessing his love. He hopes she forgives him, he had actually hurt her a lot in the past. He was a coward then but not anymore. He can't hide his feelings for her anymore.

The night before Constance's birthday party, he went out for a drink with Shantel. He has been drinking a lot since the last three weeks. He thought drinking would make him forget about his love for Constance but it didn't help at all…. That was when he realized that this love is not something he could fight off.

After drinking. Unlike him, he got drunk. He thinks it wasn't the effect of the alcohol, something was added to his drink but who could add something to his drink?

When he woke up, he was unsure of how much he had slept. He realized it was already 10 pm on the same day as Constance's birthday party which means that her birthday party is over.

It hurts him a lot. Constance will think that he intentionally didn't come to her birthday party.

Waking up by that time, it only meant that he slept for a day. He couldn't understand what was happening. Why would he sleep for a whole day? Was his presumption that something was added to his drink true?

The last person he was with was Shantel. How was something added to his drink and how did he find himself in a hotel room? And he also realized that he had slept for a whole day. He tried calling Shantel but she wasn't picking her calls.

That wasn't the main issue in his head right now. He needs to go to his wife and explain things to her. She must be thinking that he didn't come to her birthday party intentionally.

Returning to the mansion and getting to his room, he saw his wife all dressed up, it looks like she's going somewhere.

Seeing the pains in her eyes, Jace was lost of words. How can he take those pains away which of course, he was the one that brought them to her.

It actually hurt his heart when she took her wrist from his grip and walked away. He wanted to go after her but he decided against it. He has hurt her a lot and should give her space to heal.

Well, that was what he wanted to do but still he couldn't. He went after her but stopped when he heard her answer a call. She called Darren's name, that means he's the one on the other line. She's going out to meet Darren.

Jealousy clouded him immediately. He didn't know when he entered his car and secretly followed her behind. When he arrived at the restaurant, he couldn't go in. He knew that he shouldn't be there. He was contemplating about this when he saw Darren carried her in a bridal style and put her in his car. He believed that his wife was not in a good state at that moment. What had Darren done to her?

He wanted to come down from his car and stop him from driving away with her but that was too late because Darren had entered the car and drove away.

Where the fuck is Jake!

He was damn angry!

He didn't think much about that. He put on his car ignition and followed Darren's car.

It wasn't easy for him to go into Darren's apartment's compound. The security men keep asking a lot of questions. Finally, he had a free pass. Luckily for him, Darren's apartment door wasn't locked. When he dashed into the room, he saw the bastard kissing his wife who's unconscious.

Of course, he nearly beat Darren to death. He was so furious, especially when Darren was spitting out his sins under the influence of alcohol.

Darren was the one that sent Shantel into his life as his business partner. Darren wants Shantel to seduce him so that he will fall in love with her and forget Constance. But they changed the plan since it's not working. The new plan is that Shantel should make sure she brings misunderstanding between Constance and Jace.

Which their plan worked. Shantel drugged Jace and lured him to the hotel room of the exquisite bar where they went out for a drink. Nothing happened between them but Shantel made it seem as if something happened by pulling Jace's shirt and snapping a picture with herself almost naked. She sent the picture to Constance. He also planned Constance's kidnapping so that she will see him as her savior and she will trust him. He already knows that Constance is Jace's wife right from the time they met in London. He loves Constance and that was why he enrolled in Constance's school to be close to her and make her fall for him.

When Jace heard Darren's confession. It took him all he got not to kill Darren at that spot. The only thing he did was make sure he hit him until his face was all broken.

He had suspected that guy from the beginning; the only shock he got from his confession was the fact that Shantel is working with him. He never thought of that.

This explains why he slept for hours. That was because Shantel drugged his drink but why was he fully dressed when he woke up? Maybe Shantel dressed him after taking the picture.

He took Constance away and brought her to his beach house. The same house he brought her when she was nearly raped at Juliana's birthday party.

He knew she would be hungry when she woke up, so he prepared a good dish for her.

He knew he owed her an apology for the way he treated her at his grandfather's birthday party.

He also needs to clear the misunderstanding Shantel caused by sending those pictures to her. He thought that this morning when he returned to the family's mansion and wanted to speak to her but she walked away that she was only angry because of how he treated her at the party but now he understands that wasn't all. The picture Shantel showed her is one of the reasons she was angry.

When she woke up, he wanted to start explaining things to her bit by bit but she was still angry.

“Constance, would you believe me if I said that the picture Shantel sent to you wasn't what it seems like," he said. Constance only glanced at him. She's not ready to listen to anything he says.

So he knew about the picture and he was acting as if he knew nothing about it. How can he tell her that what she saw in the picture isn't what it seems to be and he's expecting her to believe him. She's not a fool, she knew what she saw in the picture.

“Please, Jace. Take me home," Constance muttered. She's trying so hard to constrain her tears. She knows that this room is not their room at the mansion so that means that they are not in the family's mansion. She actually recognized this room to be the same room Jace brought her the time she was nearly raped.

“Constance, please listen to me, let me explain things to you."

“Please, I don't want to hear anything. Just take me home." Constance wasn't sparing him a glance.

It hurts Jace but he knows that he deserves this attitude from her. He had done nothing but hurt her. She's a human with feelings so she has the right to show her pain when she's hurt just that he has not seen this side of her and was a bit surprised to see it.

He knows that she needs time and he will give it to her. When she's ready to listen to him, he will explain things to her.

“I will take you home but at least eat something."

“I don't want to eat." She cuts in. “How did I end up here in this room? The last thing I remember was going out with Darren."

Constance is praying so hard that what she thought to be a dream to actually be a dream. She don't want to believe that Darren is capable of raping her but Darren was the last person she was with. What happened to her and how did she end up with her husband.

Jace clenched his fist as he remembered what Darren wanted to do to Constance. If he hadn't followed them. That bastard would have raped Constance. Jace knew that Constance sees Darren as a friend. She will never sleep with Darren that was why the bastard drugged her.

Jace has always known that Darren is bad news. He came into his wife's life for a reason. He made her believe that he's a friend whereas he's a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Jace knows that Constance will be heartbroken if she finds out that the person she trusted as a friend tried to rape her but nevertheless, he needs to tell her what Darren tried to do to her.

He doesn't want her to know that he followed her this morning when she left the house but he has no choice but to tell her.

He told her everything. How he followed her in the morning and other things that happened. He wanted to use the opportunity and explain things to her so that she will know that Darren and Shantel planned the picture thing but his wife was already lost when he said that Darren wanted to rape her.
