Chapter 36: Chapter 36

Brody's POV

We walked into the house and I was really excited to finally meet Jake after two years. "I've missed you brother." He muttered and I hugged him.

"I've missed you too." I told him with a smile.

"Your wife?" He asked, pointing to Karen as she walked towards us.

I nodded. "Yes, she's my beautiful wife."

Karen came and introduced herself to him. "I'm really excited that you're married to my brother."

A smile plastered on my face. I was probably the happiest man in the world on my wedding day. "Thanks Jake,"

"It's surprising but mom's trying to set up an arranged marriage. She wants you to get married to Sarah."

He chuckled and licked his lips. "I don't think Sarah would turn out to be a good wife." He replied.

Sarah walked towards us with a smirk on my face. She turned to Karen and said. "I'm sorry I couldn't attend your poor wedding that was done at a backyard."

Karen smiled. "It was not a poor wedding. I'm sure you can't even afford it." She fired back.

I and Jake left the girls to discuss and I went to meet my mom. She was having a discussion with Sarah's parents. "Mom, I'll be with Jake. Have fun!"

Helen came out of the kitchen holding a tray. She giggled excitedly as soon as she saw me. "I've missed you even though it's been a few hours of your marriage." She said.

"I've missed you and Diego more,"

She fed me with a piece of cake from the tray and I ate it happily. "I'll take that as your wedding gift." I replied and climbed the stairs with a smile. I really wanted to tell Jake everything and I knew that he wouldn't tell anyone my secret. He was the only one who would advise me on what to do.

We walked into the room and I slammed the door after me. "You're occupying my former room."

He chuckled and scratched his cheeks. "I've always loved this room but since you loved it more than me, dad gave it to you."

I smiled, remembering those days that my father actually cared about me. He didn't seem to care these days and he just put me off. I didn't even know when last I spoke to him.

"How are you doing?" He asked as we sat down on the bed. I shrugged and he noticed my attitude. "Are you alright?" He asked again.

"Far from alright."

"What happened?"

I looked at his face, wondering if it was safe making sure he knew the truth. "I'm deeply in love with Karen."

He chuckled and narrowed his eyes at me in confusion. "You're supposed to be in love with your wife." He reminded me with a grin on his face.

"That's the problem. Karen is not my real girlfriend. I don't have a girlfriend, I signed a contract with her to become my fake girlfriend for two weeks. I didn't know they would like her."

His eyes widened. "I didn't know. This is really surprising. Does she know that you're in love with her?" He asked.

I frowned. "No, she doesn't. I refused to tell her the truth. I'm losing my mind because of Karen, I didn't know I'll fall deeply in love with her."

He threw a pillow at me and laid on the bed. "I don't know what to say, why haven't you told her?"

"Her reaction and response? I'm scared of how she'll feel. She might not feel the same way for me."

"You shouldn't be afraid of rejection. It's best if you tell her today so that you can develop your love life with her."

I raised an eyebrow. "It's not that easy, is it?" I asked.

"It is very easy and I'm sure she'll tell you about her feelings for you if you tell her." He answered.

It seemed like a good idea. Jake was right, Karen would definitely tell me if she loved me. "Thanks for the advice, bro."

He smiled and stood up. "You should probably get your girl now."

Karen's POV

Sarah blew a kiss at me and chuckled. "You've gotten married to my ex." She reminded me and I almost got angry.

"You don't have to remind me that he was your ex boyfriend." I scoffed.

"Okay," she muttered reluctantly.

"Why are we having this conversation?" I asked.

She smiled and showed me a document. "A contract?" She asked me back with a grin. She definitely knew about the contract and I knew that it was Bill who gave her the documents.

"Where did you get that?" I asked, scared trying to snatch the document from her.

"I don't think you need to know who gave me these documents because I have a feeling that you already know him already."

Of course, it was definitely Bill. "What do you want?"

I don't know. Since you're already married to the man of my dreams. My only wish is for you to leave Brody."

I blinked my eyes in confusion. "If Brody's parents find these documents, they might end up putting you in jail."

She was also correct. I couldn't risk anything even though I wanted to stay with Brody. I didn't want to go to jail. "I don't think I can stay without him."

"He doesn't love you." She retorted.

"Well, he didn't love you either." I fired back.

She chuckled. "Brody can never fall in love with you because you're nothing."

"What would happen if I leave this town?" I asked her.

"Everyone would be happy." She answered.

Was she speaking the truth? "I don't believe you." I muttered.

"I could help you get a ticket to Los Angeles. You don't belong here because you're poor."

Her words hurt but she was definitely saying the truth. "Alright, I'll leave Brody alone." I replied with tears forming in my eyes.

She smiled and hugged me. "You should leave right now, I'll contact the people I know at the airport and pay for your ticket
