Chapter 35: Chapter 35

Karen's POV

We walked into Brody's second house, he had suggested that we move into another house. "That was totally unbelievable, it was a mistake marriage and you know that it was not meant to happen." I said.

He slumped down on the sofa as the maids moved our luggages into the rooms. "I didn't expect that also but I don't know what to do. It came as a shock to me." He replied.

I turned my gaze to the bright light outside and shrugged. "At least, you should have supported me in canceling the wedding."

He laughed. "You're so funny and cute, would I have embarrassed my parents publicly by canceling the wedding. The contract is going to expire in the next two days."

"I know and that's why I'm scared."

"You don't have to be."

"Marriage is a commitment," I murmured and turned to look at him. "We shouldn't develop feelings for each other but I'm deeply attracted to you and I want to stop myself. This is meant to be a contract and not a love story."

His face lit up shyly. "It's not a crime to fall in love with a billionaire."

I chuckled and tears tickled in my eyes. He walked towards me and hugged me. "I'm sure everything would be alright."

Silence hung in the air.

Looking at him, I seemed to fall deeply in love with him. We were definitely attracted. "Diego should have told me."

He shook his head and was quiet for a few seconds before saying, "Alex should have also told me, I thought he was my friend. He knew this was a contract and he let us get married without telling us."

I frowned and gave a cough that was suppressed to sound normal but sounded sarcastic instead. Laughing, I replied. "I'm free from Aunt Patricia, she never loved me."

He chuckled and nudged me with an elbow. "Yeah, maybe!"

I took a deep breath, pushed my hair out of my eyes and looked at him with a smile. "I'm really confused. Bill might be out there and now, I'm married to you."

"We can always get a divorce." He suggested.

My breath caught in my throat. "How is that possible?"

He looked at me with wide eyes. "I don't know, huh, I could meet huh someone to help us."

I gave him a shaky laugh and dear iced through my veins. I didn't even know what to think. This wasn't right, it was just a contract. Why should I suffer by getting married to him?

He cleared his throat nervously. "I'm sure you'll fall in love with me."

I chuckled and walked past him to sit on the sofa. He arched an eyebrow. "What?" He prodded softly. "You don't want to fall in love with me."

"We should fall in love with each other but you've never told me that you're in love with me."

He nodded vigorously. "Yeah, what if I'm not in love with you?" He asked rhetorically and climbed the stairs.

What did he mean by that? One of the maids came towards me and dropped a glass of water on the table. "Ma'am, I've kept your wedding gown in the wardrobe." She murmured, scared.

"You don't have to be scared when talking to me, I'm not a monster."

A smile plastered on her face. "Thank you ma'am."

I nodded and watched her enter into the kitchen. Picking up the glass, I gulped down the contents.

Brody's POV

How could I tell her that I was in love with her. It seemed almost impossible. The marriage seemed like a mistake but I was really excited. I was married to the love of my life and she was no other person than Karen.

How could I thank Helen for everything? She was an angel sent from above to help me. Why did I feel this way? I was deeply in love with Karen but telling her seemed almost impossible. My phone rang and I picked up the call. "Hi," I heard a muffled noise in the background. "Helen?"

"It was a surprise call but Diego ruined it. I called to tell you congratulations." She said.

I chuckled. "I'm really excited about the marriage, I can't stop thinking about it. I didn't even know I was so in love with Karen. I'm fucking in love with her."

"After marriage, what's the next thing?" She asked and I rolled my eyes, confused.

"I don't know, what's it?"

"Guess!"

"I'm bad at guessing."

"Please, just guess."

"Huh, children?"

"Maybe, you're almost there but there's something before that." She said.

"There's nothing before having children." I replied, bluntly.

She scoffed. "Fool, I meant sex."

My eyes widened. Did she expect me to have sex with Karen on our wedding night. "Look, this is crazy. I want to take my time and I'm not forcing her to do anything."

I heard muffled laughter in the background. "You should have sex with her, mom wants grandchildren."

I couldn't. Karen was still sad about the wedding and this was absolutely not the right time to ask for sex. "I don't think it's the right time."

"Why?" She asked, her voice thin with stress. "I didn't just arrange this wedding to have fun, you guys should also have fun in the night. Every wedding night, the nan is meant to see his wife's nakedness."

Imagining Karen's nakedness, I shouted. "Hey, stop that."

"Alright, Jake is around. Our brother is around and he's also back with his girlfriend. Mom's trying to arrange a marriage with him and Sarah." She said.

It came as a joke to me but I knew what my mom could do. She was a fan of arranged marriages. "I'm not surprised."

She chuckled. "She wants you and Karen to come tomorrow to our house. We're fucking having fun tomorrow."

"Bye." I murmured and dropped my phone on the bed. It wasn't even surprising that Sarah would agree to get married to Jake.

Jake was my younger brother who managed one of dad's company. I knew that he would never marry Sarah because he knew how she cheated on me.

He was the only person I could talk to about Karen. He was the only one who could help me. I knew him for being open minded and he would certainly not expose my secrets.

Karen walked into the room, she wanted to sleep. I understood that she was tired from the day's activities and I didn't want to disturb her. "I'm sorry for how I talked to you," I apologized but she ignored me and laid on the bed.

"We should sleep early, tomorrow's a big day and my mother wants us to come to the house." I told her and she turned to face in annoyance.

"Can't she leave us alone? We're married and she still disturbs us."

I chuckled. "There's nothing bad if she wants to see me, you're just being paranoid."

"Paranoid?" She asked, annoyed. "Really? How should I behave when I wasn't informed of my wedding? Your sister told me it was a photoshoot for her film but I was deceived. Shouldn't I be angry?"

I cleared my throat and faked a smile. "Everything would be alright, you should sleep now." I replied.
